  • Thanks! I'm going to have a play with these today!

Wow, these are most lovely. I spent about three months completely fixated on Kronecker, mostly right after it was released. I dove deep into the options and subsequently wrote three or four arrangements around sounds I sculpted in the app. I think they still hold up as some of the most unique tunes in my set. What impresses me about your presets is that they are quite classy, with nary a whale sound to be heard. That's quite a feat with this app.

Thanks very much! Yes, Kronecker is a real gem when you dive in and get to know it. A most unique synth on iOS.

@Spidericemidas WOW. Who knew that today would be Christmas.

    Again 👊🏼™️💕

Hope you can find a use for some of these presets in your wonderful ambient compositions! 👊😎

@Spidericemidas These are a treat! Only got through a few of these before I got lost in the sound.. aimlessly wandering down a trail full of song.. beautiful..
A synth without presets from you is.. incomplete.. seriously.. thank you kindly for these and all the others that you’ve generously shared with us.. 🙏

Your kind words are very much appreciated and encouraging. I’m glad to get something done for Kronecker as it is so unique and interesting, sounds very nice, but so far does not seem to have received much attention or love from other sound designers. I’m not aware of any other user soundbanks available for it.

Yes, some of these presets do become very melodic and dreamy, and are good for just noodling with on their own. I was very happy with how this bank turned out. 🙏

  • Well, you did it again! Really cool presets, especially the triggered ones.
Played around with some of them and immediately got an idea for a track...

  • @Spidericemidas you sir should consider going into the preset / synth designer / sound designer business

AMAZING!!! Gave them more a go and I have to say... wow! You actually get 102 Presets, because there is a huge difference between holding/latching the key and just pushing it. They unfold and evolve their beauty. Great work mate!!! Great work!!!

    good point!
and you can really get an infinite # of presets from these if you go in and just turn off different emmiters to change a preset just a little, ive done it with a few and it changed them from a arp type thing to a pad instantly

  • These are lovely - the tunes just write themselves 😍

  • Thank you!!!! Always great presets!!!!

Great idea...I didn't think of that...

  • Thanks for these! They will definitely find their way into my next production.

  • Hi Spider!
I don’t have Knonecker, but this could be a real good reason to buy it, since your presets are always awesome. Tonight Doug will stream them on @thesoundtestroom channel on YT.
Look forward to listen to them. See you there.

  • @Spidericemidas Finally had a chance to play a bit with these wonderful patches. It's awesome to hear something so magical and ethereal coming from this synth...I never knew it possessed such beauty. Thanks again for sharing these with us...

You are a master artisan at sculpting sounds for synths and we are very fortunate to have you as a pillar of our community.

Here's my little morning post coffee, pre-lunch sonic journey:

I love Iceworks’ synths, I badly wish they were mpe, I would use them a lot more if they were. Really dug your patches for continua @Spidericemidas , so looking forward to trying these!

Yeah, I’ve got all the Iceworks synths and really like them all. My long term plan is to make a bank for each of them. So far I’ve done a bank for Red Shrike, Mersenne and now Kronecker. I’ve got an ongoing bank in LaGrange too, which I’ll have to continue with soon.

  • @Soundscaper said:
Many thanks Spider - I'm looking forward to this.

Takes some serious skill - not to mention excellent musical ears - to get far with some of the Icegear synths I find, all lovely and strange as they are ... just SO strange - I get lost and wander off all the time. But all these synths have personalities - eccentric personalities.

I'm a big fan of their little arpeggiator/sequencer thingie - surprisingly flexible... and Scatterbrain by the venerable Master Bos just does wicked stuff to 'em all.

Is there anywhere on this interweb business where one might find a full pile of your synth presets, music and the like? Might form a cult.

Icegear synths are definitely unusual and eccentric, take a little bit of time to get used to and understand, but once you unlock their potential and find their sweet spots, they are very rewarding to work with. Definitely a lot of fun to program.

Some other forum members have asked about having one location here where all my synth presets are available, so I may have to post a thread with all the links, and just update it as I make more. A number of them are now already included with the synths anyway like AudioKit’s D1, Synth One and FM Player and Syntorial’s Primer and Sunrizer’s web library.

As you also asked about my music, here’s the Soundcloud link.

Ah yes! I too am really appreciating Bram’s Scatterbrain. Extremely good! 🙏

Just previewed these, another superb quality collection that really shows what this synth can do. Ive been holding off getting Lagrange as I’m trying not to buy non-mpe synths but you might just have convinced me to get Lagrange, this guy’s synths are just so special.very kid of you to share these wonderful quality presets, big up!

LaGrange is superb! It seems to be much more of a general cover-all synth rather than the likes of Mersenne and Kronicker which are more focused on generating a certain type of sound. LaGrange has some great OSC-Filter-Amp routing options for all sorts of sound design structures. I have a bank already underway for it. The only things I miss having on it are the chorus and resonator which were present on their other synths. But that’s not really a big issue. It is a very very good synth!

  • @Gavinski said:
And by the way, these, and the general kronecker presets, sound really wonderful played through the chordial Mozaic plugin. They're just perfect for it.

Hmm. I don’t have that Mozaic app. I will have to look it up! 👍

Indeed! The triggered presets are designed to be played more with sustained notes so that the particle trigger has a chance to cycle through the patterns of triggered notes. This produces rhythmical overlapping notes and phrases for a very melodic effect. It’s a feature very unique to Kronecker and I wish more synths would incorporate this function as it is brilliant!

Kronecker’s unique particle trigger feature is just amazing for sound design! The triggered presets were designed to be very musically inspiring as they produce nice phrases of overlapping notes with different expressions or accents when you hold the notes down longer.

Yes! You should have a play with the emitter settings by switching combos on and off. You could also try setting different points on the 16-step particle trigger sequencer to trigger the sound sources in different rhythmical ways. Endless fun and creativity!

  • good stuff, thanks @Spidericemidas !

  • @richardyot said:

I’m glad you’re finding that! The trigger presets were definitely designed to be melodic and musical by the way they produce rhythmical overlapping notes with varying accents or expressions as each different sound source is triggered and cycled when you hold keys down for longer. I got lost in them the other night just sustaining one root note and noodling around in a relative key with shorter key presses over the top. They kind of encourage and inspire improv style playing.

Kronecker is a very special and unique synth. It is focused more towards percussive, bell, FM and clockwork-type sounds. So if you like that type of thing, it is well worth having. See you in the livestream later! 😊👍

  • One feature that has arrived relatively recently in Kronecker (that I wish I had when I was doing a lot of sound design) is the ability to copy/paste a layer. So let's say you have a good thing going but you want to tweak a layer without losing what you have. Just copy that layer and turn off the first one and tweak away...

  • Wow, Spider, this is awesome! I haven't used Kronecker that much because I wasn't too fond of the onboard presets, and I'm way too dumb busy to program my own patches. The former will change now, the latter will not. 😜

I really enjoyed that! Sounds lovely! Thank you so much for putting it together and posting. Doug should hopefully be doing a YT livestream demo of the bank this evening, so when it’s uploaded afterwards as a playable video, I will drop a comment in there with a link to your composition as a great example of the presets in action!

Wonderful work as always, man! 💕
