  • It’s worth buying Ice gear apps for your presets

  • Yeah, As I found that the spider was an ozrican mega fan, I knew he was on the dope boat. I mean the cool boat, no meds needed besides lemon kush. Hails spider, and yea Honestly I think the audio kit presets are genius and I wanted you to know.

Cheers! Yeah that presets thread has done particularly well at 6.1K now, but then again The Audiokit Synth One is a fantastic and very popular synth. It was good to try something a bit different and Ozricy with it. Ed Wynne’s work just baffles me! I’d love to sit down at a synth with him and learn his sound design workflows! 🤪

Thanks for checking out the Icegear patches!

  • @Spidericemidas Thank you for these, and also to Tamir for waking it up as I had missed it otherwise. :D

  • I'm in... just bought Kronecker and installed these presets. Spider Magic ensues.

Absolute masterclass in preset creation. These are fantastic. This is such an underrated synth and you’ve just shown where it excels. Lovely sounds. Worth buying this synth for these presets alone. Honestly!

Thanks! It is a brilliant and very unique synth. Perhaps its strange UI and emitter/trigger sequencer function are a bit too unorthadox and off-putting for many users to dig into. But I really like it and I would love to see other Devs implementing this kind of multitrack trigger sequencer function into their synths for each available OSC as Kronecker does. Coupled with the onboard synced delay, it’s the best tool for creating very musical and expressive rhythmical presets.

  • Just got Krony and installed presets on it. They are wonderful, thank you for sharing.

Synth is very charming, but i'm not sure about use of it, especially with rhythmic pulse options. Like, delayed repetitions are getting old fast, especially for more tonal (less percussive) timbres. Good that you have "gate" mode as well for melody needs.

But i'm sure, dream pop / shoegaze crowd will appreciate mood and atmosphere!

Game, set, match. It's so perfect, especially with that warm, gooey resonator blooming naturally...

Yeah, it’s very good at what it does, albeit in a very niche way.

Have you got these ones also for Kronecker by @shinyisshiny ?

Yeah, that too. Still exploring. I think i've heard of both sets thanks to TheSoundTestRoom.

  • @Spidericemidas - Took your advice, got the synth, and your presets with it. They are amazing. Kronecker is really quite unique. Thank you!

I think it was a good choice out of all the Icegear synths since you already had Lagrange which covers most of what Mersenne, Redshrike, Laplace and Lorentz can do. Kronecker is the only synth I know on iOS that has that very unusual 4-lane sequencer/particle emitter function. 4 sound sources each with their own sequencer lane where you can set the timing however you like to trigger each one across 16 steps. Makes for some very interesting rhythmical, dynamic and expressive patches, and all synced to tempo. Really great in AUM through a delay, all synced to tempo accompanied by a beat and whatnot.

I don’t think Satoshi ever fixed the issue I discovered with Kronecker in AUM. So if using in AUM, just ensure that Kronecker’s buffer setting matches AUM’s buffer setting. Otherwise the presets will sound weird and nothing like how they’re meant to sound. Same thing may still apply to Cubasis as well. You have to set Kronecker’s buffer setting in standalone mode as you can’t access it once plugged into AUM. After that, Kronecker remembers its last buffer setting. Well....that was how it was last March 2020. Maybe things have changed since then in Kronecker or AUM and it might not even be an issue anymore. I’m not sure.

  • @Spidericemidas not sure if I’ve said thank you before, but thank you. Your presets have given me a solid foundation to tweak and play with things to crank out some really fun melodies.

    @Spidericemidas
Thanks once more for another top tier set of patches. You really make these synths for their supper.

I had a question about Lagrange v. the other Ice Gear stuff. You mentioned that Lagrange covers the sounds available in the other stuff. Doesnt the resonator available in the others (that Lagrange lacks) make a difference in the character of those other generators?

    @Spidericemidas

(Asking as a student of your work…also asking as an IceGear completist and a big fan of the banks you created for those other generators)

Yep that’s very true. The one thing that Lagrange lacks is the resonator which is present in the others. It can cover most of what the others can do when they’re not routed through their resonator, but it can’t match all their sounds 100% without the resonator on board.

I’ve got all the Icegear synths and love them very much. They’re all slightly different from each other and worth having, I think. But the one that stands out as the most different and unusual has to be Kronecker.

  • Well, thank you very much, @Littlewoodg "IceGear completist". I thought I was fine after Lagrange and Kronecker; now I can consider buying the rest of them, too. Smooth work, mate. 😁

    Beautiful, many thanks.

Ongoing thanks! As with the IceGear output, I’ve become a @Spidericemidas completest though this forum.

If you have, or ever, monetize your work my bank account awaits. Keep us informed

Kronecker is certainly a rare bird, one of the synths that make iOS a special realm. Your explorations likewise :)

😄 Depends what type of sound you’re after. They both have a resonator which is cool for a gritty edge. Mersenne is definitely geared more towards FM bell/pluck/keys sounds. Red Shrike offers a broader scope of sounds and fx. Hence, my bank for Mersenne is focused on bell/pluck presets and my Red Shrike bank is focused more on pads/textures/fx.

This demo from Doug might help you decide.

Thank you, will check it out. Based on your description it's Redshrike so far, but now I'm curious to see what Doug brings out of them.

@Spidericemidas Ah, you've made patches/presets for RedShrike too. Good! Just installed it and sounds promising. Have your packs for LaGrange and Kronecker which are the ones I have (Koshiba, Yukawa of course). After reading your fine description of Kroneckers four independent engines I started doing stuff from scratch my self. Very rewarding and quite easy to get it going and create, just as it should be :) One thing that is a bit strange is that there are no options for panning the individual parts, well there are no panning period. Should make a great deal if it had that too.
Anyway, great thanks from a fan :D

Kronecker’s way of doing things is so unique and interesting for sound design possibilities. A real one-of-a-kind synth. Deserves more attention, recognition and more user soundbanks! I’m sure you’d pull great and interesting things out of it if you decided to make a pack for it. Red Shrike too (if you haven’t made one for that already).

That 16 step emitter/particle trigger for each sound source......just imagine having that kind of independant triggering/sequencing facility for each OSC on board the likes of Synthmaster One, Model D, Sunriser, Mono/Poly, Zeeon etc! I would love to see more synths developed with that facility! The sound design possibilities would be amazing!

I have honestly not used either of them very much (I have used the plug-ins way more) so, no, I haven't made any serious patches. I will certainly give them, especially Kronecker, a go as I am intrigued and hopefully it can get me out of the spell AddStation is holding over me :D :D

  • Kudos to you @Spidericemidas , now that I started more serious attempts to do something useful with Kronecker I realize it's no easy feat, all have to be balanced with care and
I always work in stand alone when doing sound design as there are no reason to use AU as that comes when done. But sometimes it's neat to have some player so you don't have to tap the keys to get confirmation on what you doing. ChordJam is so good for this it almost got to be a song just switching between presets :D :D
