Thanks for your kind words and glad you enjoyed the track. Especially since my longer ambient ones, unlike the techno or other shorter ones, don’t seem to be as well received and I wonder sometimes if it’s worth sharing them. I appreciate your in-depth analysis, not just for its content but because it shows you’ve taken time to appreciate and enjoy the track and that, in turn, is my biggest reward 😁
And yes, I well remember waiting 5+ minutes for a ZX spectrum game to load (showing our age here). It was my first computer, and my first foray into computer music was programming a string of bleeps on the Speccy!
So if hearing people’s creative efforts with your sounds encourages you to keep creating, then I’m more than happy to keep making tracks and posting ‘em
Thank you, the sounds are deeply beautiful.
Does anyone know how spidericemidas is doing? Didn’t Doug from @thesoundtestroom mention in one of his videos awhile back that spider was headed to the hospital with what was suspected to be the Coronavirus? We got good news today about Mark Watt (Spacecraft). I was just wondering about this other much respected member of the community.
Hey. Thanks for the concern! Yeah, I contracted Covid-19 a few weeks ago before the lockdown started here in UK. It knocked me down pretty badly for two weeks with all manner of vicious symptoms that occured in phases. Almost hospitalised with low oxygen and high heart rate, probably should have been at one point, but made it through and out the other side myself without treatment. Back on my feet again now but still recovering slowly from lung damage. Breathing still not 100%. Probably about 90% healed now, I think. Glad to hear there’s some good news about Mark Watt. Cheers! 🙏
Glad to hear it. Take care!
Wow, so glad to hear that you are recovering!
Best wishes, I only just discovered your awesome patch libraries for the various iOS synths and I’m very happy to hear that someone whohas delivered so much inspiration to me during this lockdown is on the mend Here’s to a speedy and complete recovery! ♥️
AWESOME!!! So good to hear. They try to tell us that the group of vulnerability are the 60 and older. This happens to be a fairy tale. Many many people in Russia (we have friends there) are Covid 19 and below 40.
So good to hear you are fine again, man!!! (May I ask how old you are?)
Thanks for the kind words! Stay safe and well! 🙏
It certainly appears as though this particular virus does not discriminate. Everyone across all ranges of age and fitness seem to be fair game and equally at risk from the life threatening effects it can produce. It is a very strange thing indeed.
I just turned 50 in January. I hardly ever get sick, and when I do, like a cold once every two or three years, I shake it off after a day or two as if nothing had happened with no lasting after effects. I’ve never even had Measles, Mumps or Chickenpox, even though I was exposed to them as a kid. But this Covid-19 is something entirely different I have never experienced anything like it before, and I have never been left with physical damage from a virus before. Totally weird!
I’m glad to hear you pulled through. I don’t think I’m going out on a limb to say that your creativity and generosity is an inspiration to all of us.
@Spidericemidas It’s good to hear that you’re on the mend.. Thanks for sharing your experience with us here.. knowledge is knowledge.. Let’s hope the lung damage is only temporary and with time, things heal completely.. wishing you a full recovery.. keep on taking care of yourself..
Thank you very much for the kind words! 👊😃
Cheers. Yeah, I’m sure I’ll be back to 100% soon. Already a significant improvement from the state I was in a few weeks ago! There are some doco vids on youtube showing what the lung damage from Covid-19 looks like via CT Scan. It’s pretty nasty!
Very glad you are ok.
Thank you. Kronecker is a very special synth!
Too read that makes me very happy right now. Live long and prosper!🖖😁
Ok this drives me insane!!!! I spent 20 mins trying to see if the buffer matched in Kronecker and AUM. Finally pulled out the manual and I’m like I am not seeing this buffer setting that it’s showing. Finally figured out I have to be in stand alone to see that setting. Ugggggggg. So if I set the buffer in stand alone will that transfer over to the AU?
Once again thanks for the great presets.
Yep. It’s a weird thing about Kronecker. Satoshi may look into it.
Kronecker defaults to a buffer setting of 512. You can change this if you need to by opening in standalone mode and accessing the buffer setting to change it. Whatever you change it to will be remembered when you close it down again and open it up in AUM as AUv3. Doesn’t really matter what the buffer setting is, just as long as they match. So whatever you set Kronecker to, you must set AUM the same. Hope that helps!
Thanks Leon! 🖖😄
Look after yourself, mate!
Thank you. 🙏
Take care!
@Spidericemidas well done that man Of course, if you had pegged out your patches would have risen to James Dean levels of legendary right away, but the upside is that now you have the chance to add to your legacy further
spiders back!!
LOL. Best comment! 🤣 That made my evening here. Yeah at least there would’ve been something of me left behind for people to remember me by. 😅👍
✊😁
Good to see you again!
Interesting actually. I have Eagleman's quote tucked away in my journal:
"There are three deaths. The first is when the body ceases to function. The second is when the body is consigned to the grave. The third is that moment, sometime in the future, when your name is spoken for the last time."
It's also true that many people, when close to death, are concerned more than anything that they will be forgotten. I hadn't thought it through before that of course the very material, the presets say in this case, that someone produces and gifts to others are in a form their name being spoken whenever someone selects and plays...and then incorporates them into another being or form, a song. Something that is created, perhaps stimulated directly, by the sounds designed and dreamt up by another. And something that takes on its own life and lasts. No small thing.
That’s very profound. I hadn’t really considered the humble preset in that way until you pointed it out. Comparable I guess to music, paintings and other creations left behind by their creators which may influence or still provide enjoyment for future generations, thus the creator is remembered and lives on in their own creations and in the new creations that they have influenced. Nice thought.
Well, Covid-19 didn’t win this time. I don’t plan on pegging out just yet. I hope to get a few more soundbanks done first!
Take care and stay safe!
@Spidericemidas I'm so glad to hear you're OK, I missed this thread yesterday. You're one of the top 5 people on this forum, your presets and your music are both of the highest quality, and you're a very generous man to share all that as well.
And now, hopefully at least, you're immune to the nasty.
Thanks so much for the very amazing and kind words! 😲😊🙏
Love this hobby. Love this community.
Yep, I guess I’m out of the woods now and should be safe from any further encounters with this crazy virus.
Hope you’re keeping well there yourself.
