Yeah good post. I think Mr Trump is doing a pretty good job of upsetting the rest of the world during the crisis too, the US starting to look like a rogue nation - up there with Russia and China as a result of some of its actions. Though glass houses/stones, the UK hasn’t got anything to boast about either.
I’d like to think there’d be some accountability for our so-called ‘leaders’ once we’ve got through this, unlikely to happen though.
And these "spontaneous" protests that seem to happen only in states with Democratic governors? Where all the protesters' signs, in ALL the states, just happen to use the same two fonts?? Where all the so-called Operation Gridlock facebooks have the identical language on their Facebook pages?
A reddit thread (I know, I know) has exposed this massive AstroTurfing, just as Trump suddenly starts tweeting "LIBERATE [SWING STATE WITH DEMOCRATIC GOVERNOR]."
If you don't know what AstroTurfing is, this is a very entertaining primer from John Oliver.

The takeaway: It seems very powerful forces want to incite dissent and sow chaos in states where Trump needs to win.
When has any problem been solved without the actual problem itself being faced... Never.
too much complacency, nothing will be done until it's on our doorsteps and you would have thought that this virus constitutes being on our door steps but hey they still don't even have clean water in Flint so what do we really, actually, truthfully, realistically, historically expect?
@Daveypoo : thanks so much for posting that. Wil Wheaton is an amazingly articulate and insightful guy. It is worth tracking down his video clip addressing the parent of a young girl about why it is awesome to be a nerd. I am tearing up just thinking about it.
C'mon guys you know the drill chins up chest out!!!
At times like these we have to remember
It wasn't like this when we grew up......... yes it was.
this is not who we are...... yes It is.
this does not reflect our country....... yes it does.
We're better than this........ no we're not.
I don't know what's gotten into the President..... yes you do
Yeah, he's just fantastic.
I post this Atlantic article again. The most complete description of Trump disinformation strategyi have read.

This was a great read into what makes him tick.
From The Guardian.

The unfortunate part is that his response isn't stunning - it's typical, and completely in line with his past actions.
I don't understand why everyone acts so shocked when he says this shit anymore.
Here's the video clip of the above (from today's press conference)(He also lies about not leaving the White House, though he held rallies in late Feb and early March):

It's like Beckett an HST had a delinquent baby. Those boys would be proud to write dialogue as smashed as that.
Referring to yourself by your own last name - that one thing on its own - is indicative of something seriously wrong with him.
He's getting desperate. Posted 2 hours ago.
sickening.
I don’t see anyone being shocked by it anymore. It’s more like pointing at the dog eating it’s own shit again.
It perhaps shouldn't be surprising.., it SHOULD be shocking and worthy of outrage.
I don't kid. When people allow themselves to become accustomed the outrageous or evil or corrupt as mundane, those forces win.
It is one of the mechanisms by which authoritarianism works.
I didn't mean to imply that the news itself is shocking, more that it's not shocking at all he opened his fat mouth and talked about himself.
I'd make make the difference between surprising and shocking. It isn't surprising that he answered that way -- it should be shocking. And we shouldn't let ourselves become accustomed to "the shocking" just because it has stopped being surprising.
That's one of the methods of authoritarianism and successful extremists. They move the window of acceptability.
Shocking
adjective
-causing indignation or disgust; offensive.
"shocking behavior"
-causing a feeling of surprise and dismay.
"she brought shocking news"
Semenstinks aside I would define it simply as...
So Georgia's governor is going to allow gyms, hair cutterys, restaurants, etc to open soon.
This is the same Governor who delayed the lockdown because he didn't know that it could be transmitted without showing signs.
“Finding out that this virus is now transmitting before people see signs … we didn’t know that until the last 24 hours,” Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said April 1 in justifying his delay in ordering a lockdown.
And he works a few miles from the CDC headquarters. And his state is #10 in total cases and deaths.

“Justice” Department will take the sides of the protestors in suing governors that don’t open on Trump’s timeline.
Apparently, the Trump administration just hasn’t had its fill of killing people through neglect and mismanagement. Now it’ll also attempt do so through a miscarriage of justice.
miscarriage of justice runs through their veins... Trump/Barr
disgusting.
Oh dear, kind of feel for these people being pawns on the chessboard of people from the void, news from across the spectrum is not looking good, for example.
Kentucky sees highest spike in coronavirus cases after lockdown protests

Man dies from coronavirus after calling it a ‘political ploy’
An Ohio man who dismissed the coronavirus pandemic as a “political ploy” and ripped his state’s lockdown as “bulls–t,” has died of COVID-19, according to reports.
John W. McDaniel, 60, passed away last Wednesday in Columbus — exactly a month after reportedly firing off a series of angry messages about the contagion.
“Does anybody have the guts to say this COVID-19 is a political ploy? Asking for a friend. Prove me wrong,” he wrote on March 13, according to the Sun.
Two days later, McDaniel reportedly called “bulls–t” on Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s stay-at-home order closing bars and restaurants.
“He doesn’t have that authority. If you are paranoid about getting sick just don’t go out. It shouldn’t keep those of us from living our lives,” he wrote, according to the reports. “The madness has to stop.”

Then there is this gem, from an old man who took this threat seriously, early on.
Coronavirus: Rupert Murdoch protected himself while his Fox News channel dismissed pandemic warnings
If you were watching some of the commentators on Fox News and Fox Business in the first 10 days of March, you wouldn’t have been too worried about the coronavirus — it would be no worse than the flu, and the real story was the “coronavirus impeachment scam”.
Many of the networks’ elderly, pro-Trump viewers responded to the coverage and the president’s public statements by taking the virus less seriously than, a week later, everyone else had. Public health experts have said that some of them may die as a result, as I reported this week.
But one elderly Fox News viewer, a crucial supporter of Donald Trump, took the threat seriously: The channel’s chair, Rupert Murdoch, who was to celebrate his 89th birthday on 11 March.
On 8 March, as the virus was spreading, the Murdoch family called off a planned party out of concern for the patriarch’s health, according to a person familiar with the cancellation. There were about 20 people on the guest list.
The person who shared the news of the cancelled party said they did so to highlight the disconnect between the family’s prudent private conduct and the reckless words spoken on air at their media company.

It just occurred to me, if there was an actual sound of a 'Lie' it would be the voice of Donald Trump
I don't even know what the point is of him being present at these live updates anymore it's so gross, I wonder if his supporters touched their children and loved ones with the same hands they used to vote for this poor excuse of a human being, simply vomit inducing..
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Ah Lucifer’s Wind.
