Question - What are the Must Have KoRg Apps???
KORG 50% Yeay!! Finally got KORG Gadget, don't know how many times I've been to the store and just .. no, too much money.
Anyway, you who have it: which of the IAP wouldn't you wanna be without? This means Sugar Bytes Drum Computer is off the table, for me, if they don't drop it considerably.
I'll be very surprised if they do a sale on Drum Computer so quickly after release, definitely don't hold your breath!
Yeah, I would imagine they would have to recoup the development costs before even thinking of putting it on sale.
It's one of the hugest releases of the year, I think they still have plenty of opportunity to sell full price units, and I'm sure they know that too. You never know though, and I certainly hope I'm wrong 😋
@mrufino1 thanks, appears my assumption wasn’t even close.
DARWIN for sure. After buying Korg iM1 it appears in the Gadgets as DARWIN plugin, I like it very much for a huge amount of classic sounds. I recommend buying 2 IAPs in iM1 for about $3 each, then you have about 3300 sounds in iM1 / Darwin in gadgets.
Thanks man! I definitely will have a look.
Which all korg apps are auv3 and how does their electribe wave compare to other auv3 wavetable apps?
Thanks
Korg Module and Electribe Wave are the two current AUv3 offerings from Korg. Elecrtribe Wave in IAA or Standalone app makes for a very nice groove box. As an AUv3 it is a Wavetable synth engine only without the sequencer or drums. It has some nice sounds and it also appears in Gadget as a synth. I've used basically for bass sounds in this capacity, but it does have a range of wavetables to choose from, some of them IAPs.
Assuming all the Korg synths eventually go AU (a big assumption but not unreasonable), which are the best? By which I mean, if you already have most of the usual suspects, which are the most fun to play and unique sounding?
I’m thinking Odyssei might be worth a punt...
Thank you
ODYSSEi and Mono/Poly for those types of sound. The Mono/Poly also has an excellent random function.
iWAVESTATION for sounding like a Wavestation. You get a ton of sounds and if you can wrap Your mind around the programming interface, it’ll still sound like nothing else.
iDS-10 for the text synthesizer.
Thanks. What are the IAPs in the Korg synths for?
More presets
Hi @dakti, does the iM1 also feature the the on board sequencer that the original M1 keyboard had? I know that it has the Kaoss pads. I remember a keyboard player friend of mine running up entire songs using the sequencer one after the other back in the 80’s - just amazing! He’d just turn up at a session with his M1 and just create an entire production himself.
While, as mentioned, it does not have anything to do with arpeggios, the Korg Arp Odyssey does actualy have a really nice (in my opinion) arpeggiator on a second screen of functions which weren't part of the original hardware. You can sequence up to 16 steps of multiple parameters at once. This app was totally my gateway ios music app, I still love the sound of it. Just a shame that it's not auv3 compatible, and can't seem to receive a clock signal or CC control).
Alan R. Pearlman was nicknamed “ARP” as a kid growing up in New York City, so it seemed the perfect name for a company he co-founded when he was later designing electronic musical instruments. After leaving NASA, Pearlman Established ARP as an outlet for the creation of instruments known for their sound quality. Source Korg:

Btw, the sequencer (it is more step sequencer than arpeggiator) in Odyssei is basically ARP’s standalone sequencer which was pretty cool back in the day.
Nope! Makes me sad. 😢
As @anickt said, but Korg Gadgets can replace missing sequencer. Here you can find specification of iM1.
Bit Maestro down $2 to $2.99

I love this app. Try it with GlitchCore.
These would be and were my choices too.
iWavestation is endlessly deep, you can spend days creating new sounds based on samples and looped spectra (a bit like the Roland D-50) and they'll still sound different.
iMono/Poly has a stunningly wide analog synth sound palette.
Odyssei sounds quite good but I wouldn't recommend it over Zeeon anymore. Zeeon can do much more and the minor differences that may be audible in a 1:1 shootout will totally get lost in the mix.
Stockholm in Gadget is the mega sleeper IMHO if you have a collection of REX/RX2 loops or if you own ReCycle by coincidence. It's "Dr Octo Rex" from propellerheads Reason.
Can Zeeon to the squealy resonant FM stuff that Odyssei can do?
I like Zeeon, but I feel there is a range of sounds that includes super-fat growling bass and weird squealing and metallic FM that Odyssei does that no other synth on iOS matches. I’ll see if I can put together some examples that capture some of those flavors.
That'd be great, I'll get my hands on Zeeon then to (try to) replicate them.
All CineSamples products are 50% until Nov 30... I care about the StaffPad libraries.
VOXOS Epic Virtual Choirs is calling out to me at $50. I need to find out when the sale ends.
The StaffPad default choir is very limited. My second choice would be the Solo Strings for $35. @ScottVanZandt recommends the CineBrass for some amazing horns with great legatos for $50. Tina Guo Cello for $19 is a steal.
I’m sure I’ve seen it asked before but iMono/Poly vs. iPolySix?
Don’t get me wrong, Zeeon is excellent but not a replacement imo...and it can certainly make sounds that Odyssei doesn’t. Odyssei is probably my favorite virtual analog. Does Zeeon do FM?
Thanks for the heads-up! Going to get the cello at this price, although I do already have the Berlin First Chairs. Fingers still crossed for a Berlin sale at some point.
