Hear EQ- Ear training for EQ is on sale for $2.99 usually $5.99

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/heareq-ear-training-for-eq/id840906542

Does anyone have any experience with this? I’ve been looking for something like this for a while. I bought quiz tones years ago but never got on with it.

Yes, I like it. I especially like that you can listen blind to songs from your iTunes library having their EQ messed with, and work out what's been done, and how they're wrong. It can be a humbling experience.

The only issue I've really had with that app has been the song browser - it draws on the 'Music' app's library, and I have many thousands of tracks stored on my phone, and Hear EQ presents that library as one big long list, alphabetically by song name, with no search function. Scrolling through can be a chore.

Most of my critical listening has been to songs that begin with the letter 'A'.

    Very useful, thank you.

Awesome! Honestly, I bought it last year and I STILL haven't hit the bottom of it. I'm going to turn a gang of the multisamples into AudioLayer instruments at some stage

Are the Acoustic IAPs worth the money. I am mainly interested in multisampled stuff in there

Hello, my name is Flight Manual, and I am an Appaholic.

Keep in mind, I already bought Drum Computer (BIG FAN! YES! AWESOME! AMAZING!!!) and Gauss (Never gonna use this, really. It sounded good at the time, but I have regrets) this month. So I already have dug a hole.

Ok... So here is my tab for the past few days:

    Loop Builder: $5.99

Ok, I am a sucker for having a palette of loops to select from. At first, disappointed... No Ableton Link, no MIDI implementation, loops don't match to tempo, meh. Then I figured out that this might be cool because you can route to any FX you have inside the app, up to 4 hosted per scene.... Maybe there is potential there, but I have said that before. Wrote the developer with suggestions.
    Verdict: meh for now

    Mood: $4.99

I was not going to buy another synth! I have plenty! Then the Red Sky Lullaby kits just sounded so fun in the demo, and my finger just kinda moved to the buy button and...
Damn, this thing is thick. Better than most at the strange and intricate.
    Verdict: whoa, dude.

    Electric Vintage: $3.99
I was really not going to buy another synth!!! Saw a demo of it using Riders on the Storm. Sold. Better than the Korg one in Module for sure. Wish it had more presets, including the one used in the Doors demo! But hey, Apesoft.
Verdict: a very specific sound, but pretty damn perfectly spot on. I'll probably use it in a song, someday. Maybe.

    Axon 2: $2.99
Skynet in a synth? Not really. But variable high hat specialist tool? Yeah, it makes really nice hats. Verdict: Mmmm, ok.

    Cykle:$4.99
Oh yes! I'd say it is the top dog in randomizing everything for step sequencing, has probability. Good for exploring what a synth can do... Not Fugue Machine, but pretty cool in it's own ways.
    Verdict: Keeper.

24 bucks... What should I have bought that I don't have with that?! I really didn't NEED any of those. I'm not a big refund guy, so I get what I get and learn my lesson. BUT....

Looperator is a $15.99 IAP. Should've bought it. It is pure fun... And I have Effectrix and Egoist and Turnado and Wow. It just sounds awesome effects wise.

Troublemaker is not on sale and is $8.99. But damn if it doesn't sound like the best 303 I've heard.

    That's $25. That's what I shoulda bought.

My name is Flight Manual, and I am an Appaholic. It's been 12 hours since my last App purchase. Please help me stop.

please post a link of he riders on the storm demo video

    Here you go!

    awesome thanks

  • Chompler is $2 off down to $2.99

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/chomplr/id1470553213

    Is this app actually 1.3gb?

  • edited November 2020

I guess that’s the 150 stock loops that come packed inside, but dam, 1.3gb... I was about to buy but the size made me think twice... probably still will. Lol.

its a big thing for sure! i bought it a few days ago and have had a lot of fun with it, you can’t import your own samples yet but rumor is soon, but i’ve made some good pad sounds and arps with the stock sounds when sequenced with drambo and other apps. a great deal for 3$

  • @reasOne good to know. Yea when it came out I went with segments because of sample import. Be cool if this had it too, thanks for the heads up.

    Me too. Thanks!

  • i think it was on sale but not sure...i bought desktop presets upgrade for synth master one.
my goal is to use these synths that have been ignored by me for a while a lot more, presets are a great way to get inspired back in

I don't know about One but Player has the most incredible presets thanks to Nori Ubutaka. The man is quite literally a genius

  • @Millwardesque, the initial app for $10 is worth it, IMO. Lots of good strings. All others not so much. You can find more useful equivalents (not as glitchy) in BeatHawk, Module, PureSynthPlatinum, GeoSWAM and iFretless.

Thanks! I've got the app already and agree it's great. Kinda disappointed the IAPs don't hold up, but since I just bought PureSynthPlatinum I'll take a look there instead  Thanks!

  • @Millwardesque, Choirs and KApro Orchestra in Module excellent additions to the acoustic quiver.

Went to have a look at Nori Ubataka, being intrigued and all, but trying to buy a pack out of the Historic Synth Giants I get a message saying I need to buy the Factory Presets Pro pack but I can't find that in the list in the app?

Yes, it's a pain in the arse and isn't worded well. It's one of the top ones. It appears on my Apple invoice as "Factory Presets (PRO Upgrade)" for £4.99 if that helps at all.

Hi! I don't usually think about EQs and am not knowledgeable about mixing in general, but I'm realizing I probably need an EQ for use in AUM. I’m slowly building out my iPad arsenal but have really only focused on synths, samplers, granular apps, reverbs, delays, distortions and various manglers... 😜 Any Black Friday eq deals I should take advantage of? I had hoped Toneboosters EQ would go on sale, but so far no. I see ones from 4pockets, Blue Mangoo, etc.... I’m leaning towards parametric. Hoping for $6 and under but could maybe stretch to $10 (I’m being cheap I know, but wife’s patience for my app purchasing is wearing thin!)
    Thanks in advance!

  • The DDMF sounds great, but if you’re learning EQ it is not the way to jump in.

Toneboosters EQ is great and has terrific visual feedback that will let you understand the frequency range.

  • I’m one of said heathens....not sure I need it though, I don’t really work in multiple apps at once anymore. But I’ll see...

AUM already has Filters & EQ in its INSERTS & EFFECTS slot

I always forget that AUM comes with a bunch of tools and effects. How are they, generally?
