This is the approach of a true professional! Never admit how much you spent, only how much you didn't

Feeling mildly hungover this morning despite not drinking anything. Ended up making undulating drones in AUM which were so beautifully soothing they sent me to sleep with the heating on too high.

I also swam with my appstore purchases last days and spent 84 $ for 24 apps / iap at the moment, but having approach of a true professional the good news is that I didn't spent additional 131 $ B) The bad news is I still thinking about a few apps more.

ps. The worse news is that the equivalent of 84 $ USA appstore prices in my country is 109 $ appstore prices (+30%), in Sweeden is even worse.

I made a small comparisson for "Hammond B3-X" app which in USA AppStore cost 130 $, based on the currency rate from today:

    • in Turkey it's 1200 TRY, which is 151 $ (17% more expensive)
    • in Poland it's 630 PLN, which is 168 $ (30% more expensive)
    • in Mexico it's 3400 MXD, which is 170 $ (31% more expensive)
    • in England it's 130 GBP, which is 174 $ (34% more expensive)
    • in Germany it's 150 EUR, which is 178 $ (38% more expensive)
    • in Sweeden it's 1595 KR, which is 188 $ (45% more expensive) - almost half price more

Unlike the rest, one of the richest countries in the world QATAR pays only 1.5% more, I don't get it.

    • in Qatar it's 480 QAR, which is 132 $ (1.5% more expensive)

I do love a good stats post. Doesn't matter what the numbers refer to, it could be fleas on a cat on Saturday morning before noon after a heavy frost.

Some of this will be the local sales tax (VAT in UK), but that only accounts for 20% of 34% in the UK case...

  • As I'm an app store newbie, what is the chance other Lumbeat apps will go on sale Cyber Monday?

That's not quite the answer to your question, but Here you can check sale history off all Lumbeat apps. Choose app you are interesting and you will see recent price changes.

  • I’m going to have to stop listening to you people. I just bought MDE stereo - but for desktop. That’s it - I’m folding and I’m definitely out of the game.

See it was money well spent and at least your purchases will last longer than a hang over! Well hopefully :)

    What happened?

  • Oh. I didn’t mean to imply I bought the wrong thing. Increasingly I find myself using the iPad as a place to explore ideas but I seem to be finishing them on the desktop. So it made better sense to buy this one for desktop - but it’s serious dollars and now I’m broke.

It's far too embarrassing to mention.

Don't be embarrassed just embrace your inner desire for music apps that you may never use but at the time felt great cos it was in the BF sale :D

    Look on the bright side.
You just saved $8800 plus shipping by not getting the hardware version.

  • I feel so much better. Thanks.

Did bite after that advertisment 😅

The looks for the standalone are a bit strange:

This is actually a bug!. It wasn’t like that before, now I see it like you do, weird. And it’s actually quite inconvenient cos I can’t read it and it’s hard to press the buttons.

  • My problem is I not only spent a shit load on the app store I also bought a Boss DD-500 pedal 😭

Awesome! I bought a microcosm pedal but to be fair, I sold days before my mood blackout edition... so the microcosm cost me 3,50€ haha

This is the Best Buy, best deal, best bestest. It’s a delay, a reverb and a true satisfied vintage machine. The “mic” knob is magic, black magic. We all talk about “vintage” and it usually some 1760 compressor or ssl console emulation... but it doesn’t really relate to you. I’ve never had an ssl or a 3000€ compressor, this thing sounds like “your life” vintage. Like a skating ring announcement, like an Atari on a TV, like playing guitar though a double decker cassette player in the bathroom.
Seriously, you need it. It’s not even 2€. I was gonna buy FB Saturn but I’m gonna get 10 of these instead.
I’ve been in trance for half an hour. Cykle to IVCS3, recorded half speed to Gauss, some RE-1 feedback and a buckets of Ratshack. Heavens. Btw I didn’t get the Gauss hype, my bad. It’s amazing.

    https://apps.apple.com/es/app/ratshackreverb3/id1438893987?l=en

Edit: @FlightManual i feeeeeeel you (Depeche). Did you get Ratshack?. Do not even dare to come to me with a hilarious list if it doesn’t include Ratshack. Also, can you do many more lists like this ☝️?. Gold.

You sold me on this app and I am honestly so happy I got it. It's got a really great sound which was very surprising. I threw it on a snare with delay and repeat down, depth all the way up and of course, the microphone finely tuned and WOW I fell in love instantly. Not to mention how it sounds on synths. Just wow. Thank you for plugging this so well.

  • @BCKeys said:
My problem is that I let myself be tempted by 6144 and I don't hear any major difference with a Pro-Q3 🤨

Really?. I got the 6144 too, although I had my doubts it’d be any improvement over the Nembrini Guitar eq which I use it a lot. I’m absolutely not a “detail” person. I’m not picky about eqs or reverbs, so I usually “go with the flow” and get whatever is supposed to be great.
This time I did compare both to see how bad my appcoholism is... Maybe helps someone to make a decision...
Conclusion?. Not a fair comparison, Nembrini has fixed freqs to make it easy for guitars, Ir doesn’t have LP or HP, in short, it’s not as flexible. Sound wise I do appreciate a little more “grit” on Nembrini with the analog engaged. The 6144 sounds good. To be somehow precise I should have included a “regular” eq, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t tell the difference and feel like an idiot. If the 6144 is not noticeably worse, which it doesn’t seem to be, the added options and versatility makes it a keeper.

Yes, this is a screen recording, hardly the most scientific scenario. But a realistic one, if you’re making records for Lady Gaga on 10000$ monitors you probably are not using an iPad.

Bloody magical, isn’t it?. I just emailed AudioDamage support cos the thing won’t resize...
I should make a record called “Ratshack plus guests”. Must be the novelty but I’m drenching everything with this evil machine.

  • Woke up thinking how much more entertaining/informative/OUTRAGED this thread would have been with the contribution of Monzo.

Pouring out a few sips of coffee this morning for Our Man in Rural Wales.

I think that's the problem. My desire to embrace music apps that I open, fart about with for a minute, tell myself "hmm, yeah, I can see that being useful" and never open it again except via the App Store when I go to buy it a second time.

i think it was on sale but not sure...i bought desktop presets upgrade for synth master one.
my goal is to use these synths that have been ignored by me for a while a lot more, presets are a great way to get inspired back in

I don't know about One but Player has the most incredible presets thanks to Nori Ubutaka. The man is quite literally a genius

Man, huge thanks for the heads up on Nori U! I’d just been in the synthmaster player iap store no less than 30 mins prior to reading this (my shopaholic brain convinced me it must be fate and I snatched up several more IAPs lol 😂)

Still checking out all the new sounds but some of the presets in the pack titled “World Sounds” are just completely stunning. This guy really is phenomenal. @LinearLineman, have you checked out this IAP in synthmaster player yet (called World Sounds)? Based on previous comments you’ve made about your tastes, I think you’ll dig it if not. I think it’s only $3.99 or something along those lines might be worth a look.

    Great call Pete!

  • I just completed the discoDSP AUV3 Bundle for £3. That’s OPL, Schroeder Reverb and Scope Visualizer for £3.

Shame the individual instruments are not in the sale. Good time to get them though if you want the lot. I think our wait to audio modelling release them as separates.
