I’m still unclear on how/whether we can route its audio as a host back into AUM, which would be ideal for easily transitioning between AUM projects for live performance.

You'll be able to use Loopy Pro as an AU inside AUM if you like.

I've deliberately not implemented IAA, as it's been deprecated by Apple, and AUv3 works better anyway.

Oh! I was hoping to use LoopyPro as the only looper (I mainly loop my guitar) and host all the effects I use on my loops.
Then redirect it wit IAA into AUM that I use as a mixing desk for all my other input sources an have it synced to LoopyPro so let's say my vocal delay would still sync with all my loops.
I understand that if I use LoopyPro as an AUv3 I won't be able to use AUv3 inside LoopyPro to effect the single loops.
Would I be able with LoopyPro to mix and effect sources that don't get looped?

When I find myself anticipating, Audiobus comes to me. There will be an answer, in the beta

If I’m not mistaken Loopy Pro will be multi out.
That means you can have LP auv3 in atom as multiple out instances, each can then have its own track in AUM with its own effects, sends, volumes, etc…

  • I kid; public beta in a few weeks, release a month or two after that.

@Michael, just post the presale now! B)

  • ok I came up with one last point on my wishlist....(for now haha) please please offer a reverse play option, so that I can reverse my loops easily. :)

Hehe yeah that’ll be in there

  • Can you cut out a section of a loop and automatically have the two remaining parts close together? Like the cut (ripple) in Audio Evolution.

    No, LP won't do that.

Chill. My response was a bit of fun.
It was a genuine question in the first place with no ulterior motive.
Hopeful maybe, but it would have been nice. I use it a great deal in Audio Evolution.

I don’t see any indication of it being multi out.

I would love it if it was but currently only a regular loopy pro icon comes up on the list.

Oh yeah, I just haven't done it yet. It'll be multi out at 1.0.

  • I don’t suppose there will be a way to record a session with the camera app on my iPhone ? Vocal jam studio has this feature and I quite like it. I can’t believe there isn’t an easy way to do this already unless anyone knows a way?

  • Second “no” of the day! No, I’m afraid not 😃

  • @theinfinate Can’t you just use the built-in screen recorder?

Not that I had any doubt of buying this app before but with multi outs I wish I could throw my money at you right now. This will be a game changer for my workflow. I want to use AUM and live mix with a controller for my dub reggae jams. I can host Loopy pro in AUM and use multi outs and route to diffenrent effect buses. I’m so looking forward to the release. Thank you @Michael

  • Has to do with copyright laws.. I can record YouTube with the screen record function but cannot load that file into aum.

You can drop that file to eg pulse and load eg pulse from aum.

Is the screen recorder quality ok? People have mentioned round here before that it’s not up to par but maybe it’s better now?

I can’t hear any difference so for me it’s good enough. If I had to guess I would say the quality is exactly the same because I don’t see why Apple would implement the audio to get converted to analogue signal and then back to digital. Just a guess though.

Compression is the issue – it used to be appalling compression. Seems less bad now, but it’s certainly not lossless.

New rc-505 is coming (mk2) and will cost 620 Euro for 5 stereo tracks plus effects. Maybe a good deal for some but I know why I literally can’t wait for loopypro.

  • I remember seeing the early Loopy Masterpiece videos some years ago and getting really excited - I then forgot about it and had some less-than-ideal experiences with hardware loopers, now I am glad to see this is still on track and almost finished.

@Michael , Loopy Pro is looking incredible. The sequencer in particular is exactly what I'm after and I will buy this immediately when it's released. Well done!

I have some feature requests taken from experimental loopers. These are definitely not necessary for a functional looper - but if you're looking to extend your long list of features perhaps these will be interesting:

    • Besides the typical record/overdub/play, some Echoplex-inspired features like: replace, substitute, insert. The new Glou-Glou Loupé has these, and their website explains them pretty well: https://glou-glou.org/loupe/
    • The ability to detach the recording playhead from the playback playhead, as can be done on Enso or Blooper. This might be tricky to integrate with the sequencer, but not impossible?
    • (this can probably be done already but worth checking:) the ability to change to playback speed of a loop, and the pitch changes according to the speed (tape-effect)
