RemixLive added a Live Set mode where you can switch from one project to another without the music stopping. It’d be awesome to have something like this in Loopy. I mean maybe it’s redundant if you can have infinite donuts now, but it is very slick how they’ve done it.

Yeah that’s on my list – it probably won’t be in 1.0 because it’s a little involved, but I’ve built the app with that goal in mind, so it shouldn’t be too much

Awesome! Your list must be longer than the Magna Carta!

    Today's sequencer UI efforts:

So to get sections within the sequencer I presume you just press record and fire loops and effects in real time. If im correct, does this record automation? And is the automation editable?

Yep, but you can do it by hand too.

Automation recording and editing: shortly, yep. It'll be in there before release.

Sweet deal! is there a loop marker in the sequencer?

    Yep, multiple.

Is there a midi note editor like a piano roll? or is it audio loops only

Midi is coming later, in v1.1 or 1.2.

As Loopy Pro will be an AUv3 host, why not relying on Atom 2?

Cool feature for sure! In the meantime, I guess could manage with multiple AUs in another host?

    Yes good point!

  • Been keeping an eye on this thread, and I'm getting excited now that the screen shots and videos are appearing. I will buy it immediately (of course), but will be looking forward to midi and a pianoroll (please, @Michael, take inspiration from NS2's pianoroll, which is near perfect). What a beast!

Tempo management is the trickiest bit with multiple AUs of Loopy Pro. We will have to see if LP will have tempo forcing features (ramping is always welcome!) that could help her. Soon, I hope!

I’d be happy with them all following and changing with the host tempo, as long as the time stretching is on point. I guess there are going to be lots of usage scenarios.

Because Loopy's recording paradigm/workflow is more friendly for many situations. In Loopy, you don't need to know how long your loop will be of your starting tempo if you want to capture something spontaneously.

That's less than 4,000 words, so quite probably his list is longer by now. If it isn't, well it is not for lack of effort from the forum members... 😊

  • Just, uh, between you and me, I'm also a little concerned about the blurring of price differentiation that comes from the M1's being able to run iOS apps! Getting harder and harder to make a buck with software!

I totally understand where your coming from, honestly id pay around $50 for this app as ive spent $50 (au) on cubasis and feel id get much more use out of loopy pro than cubasis. Although that price would probably scare a lot of people away. I didn't even know I could load iPad apps on my M1, I just tried with quantiloop but after loading and finding out I would have to load all the iPad effect apps on the system as well as it doesn't scan for vst's I don't really see any point having this on my Mac. However if there was a dedicated version that was a standalone and a vst that could talk to other vst effects I would drop around $150 on that as I paid I think around that for Msuperlooper which is good but just not inspiring. Your custom widget idea is game changing IMO!

  • Thanks heaps for saying @theinfinate! Yeah, I'll definitely be doing a VST-capable desktop version.

It was a list of demands… I think we’ve been a little nicer than that…

  • Can I just use the sampling and playback engine with unlimited tracks/sample slots and control it from another app? In other word, can it clear/add-remove track/record/play remotely over MIDI/AU automation?

There is nothing on iOS that gives this much control to other apps or MIDI controllers. They all depend on the touchscreen.

    Sure

and with midi will there be an option to have a chain of midi commands with one midi cc activating said chain. Will there be an option to have a ms delay in between commands. And the ability to set the value trigger at 0 So for eg. I can hold a midi pedal which turns on momentarily a reverb/delay output effect and when I release it triggers track delete and toggles output effect off (output effect needs trails on). I like doing this in ambient looping so that there is no abrupt stops of audio which makes my mind twitch

Sounds like you’re looking for something like StreamByter or Mozaic embedded in Loopy Pro. I’m pretty sure you can at least accomplish it by pairing one of these tools with Loopy Pro.

    We are making progress. ;-)

    Thank you, great developer!

  • @Michael , it all looks amazing, it seems like you;ve thought of everything!

I know you have AUv3 hosting, but i think not IAA, understandably. If I'm keen on using some IAA apps eg, the Lumbeats apps in conjunction with this, would I need an external solution like AUM/Audiobus to tie into Loopy pro?

Currently I can host Soft Drummer and Group the Loop in AUM, and loop my guitar etc into GTL, setting the tempo with the first loop and then having AUM pick up that tempo and having SD follow it.

I'm thinking I'd still need to have that kind of workflow but swapping out GTL with Loopy Pro... or could I do a similar thing all within Loopy Pro?

    thanks!

  • It seems like every question in this thread gets the answer “Yes, it’s built in.” !!

  • But not in this case @SimonSomeone! Yeah you’ll need to host Loopy in AB3/AUM for that.

  • @Michael I didn’t comment up to now but watched the development of Loopy Pro since the start of the project. The current state is so well though out and designed with a beautiful interface and covers so many more use cases than Loopy. Your project has really outgrown itself.

The standalone with its timeline and AUv3 support is a loop based live jamming environment with new workflows for music making to be discovered.

And i can’t yet fully imagine what using Loopy Pro as AUv3 we will bring to the table. Probably we can put that into a FX slot of a host to ‚sample‘ new loops. Perhaps it also features the timeline. And additionally the internal FX are exposed as new AUv3 FX... Just Wow.

    Congratulations !

  • I've noticed this thread has been around for a long time. Occasionally I'll poke my head in to have a look around. Sorry if this has been covered many times, but... Is there any idea of a potential release date? Keen to pick this up when it's out.

  • Thanks @_ki!

@handed, just another two or three years now! I kid; public beta in a few weeks, release a month or two after that.
