Hope someone can help, fingers crossed I have missed something
Saved a super 4 bar motif, but I want to change it to an 8 bar, or alter some of the settings
But when I load it, the settings option isn’t available, am I missing a step, or being stupid ?
Really love this loop and want to work with it more
@Gdub , not sure if it helps but if you are using MIDI Out you can increase the Loop Count to 2 to get 8 bars.
Thanks @GeoTony
I drop the midi in atom 2, so I could copy paste etc, but am hoping to get in the settings as there is other options to transform the motif
Really hope it’s possible
Hi @Gdub, in Piano Motifs there is no way to modify a previously generated motif except for its octaves (melody and accompaniment) and its bpm. If you want to generate a new motif with the same settings of a saved motif, you can choose the "Load Settings" option when selecting the motif in the library and then generate a new one. You could also choose the "Load Motif" option and then press "New" to generate a new motif with the same settings. Please be aware that only the settings that you have specified in the saved motif are the ones that will be applied to the new motif and the rest of the parameters will be randomized. So if you didn't set too many parameters, the new motif will probably be totally different from the saved one.
Ok
thanks for the clear answer
sweet app
A new version of Piano Motifs (v.2.43) is available. This version has the following new features:
• New ways of sorting the motifs in the Library with section titles for better organization. You can now sort alphabetically, by ascending date, by descending date, by key and scale, by time signature and by bpm.
• Minor bug fixes and enhancements.
Enjoy!
The sorting is great but I can’t get any sound when using Audition in the Library or when selecting something in the Library list there is no sound when trying to Play Motif, Load Motif or Load Settings. Basically no sound when trying to play anything in the Library.
Never mind figured it out, user error. Forgot I had midi out turned on, duh!. Working just fine. Sorting is great! I wish there was a way to batch export Motifs but I’ve asked for this before and I don’t think it’s possible. Great app!
Thanks for the new Library functionality @azul3D_Apps , very useful. Tip left and yet another quick blast with the app… this popped out with just the 3rd press of the Play button…

@azul3D_Apps You are seriously rocking this app! Just keeps getting better in unanticipated ways. Thank you!
That was lovely, @GeoTony
When I try to export to MIDI, I can choose ‚OK‘ or ‚OK - Add bpm/key/scales/ts‘ but there is no chance to cancel?
Please explain the MIDI sharing options

What’s the difference between ‚MIDI‘ and ‚MIDI-3 tracks‘? I found out, that there is only 1 track saved.
What about the m4a option? I can‘t find it anymore.
A new version of Piano Motifs (v2.44) is now available. This version has the following new features:
• Added hard swing setting. When this setting is selected a dotted eighth and a sixteenth note are used instead of 2 eighth notes.
• Fixed issues when locking progression and accompaniment, and the number of bars is modified.
• Added new chord progressions for randomly generated motifs.
Enjoy!
Hi @Iskander, these are the different MIDI export options:
• MIDI: One MIDI file with both the motif melody and accompaniment will be exported.
• MIDI - 2 Files: Two MIDI files will be exported. One for the motif melody and one for the motif
accompaniment. NOTE: some applications (like AudioShare) do not accept more than one
MIDI file as input.
• MIDI Melody: One MIDI file with the motif melody will be exported.
• MIDI Accomp: One MIDI file with the motif accompaniment will be exported.
• MIDI - 3 Track: One MIDI file with the melody, the accompaniment and a third track with a
sustain chord per bar will be exported. NOTE: The third track works better for chord and arpeggio accompaniments. In the case of bass accompaniments, the third track will not have a complete chord, but just the bass note.
The audio file option will only be available after the whole motif is played, since it is generated on the fly.
@azul3D_Apps Many thanks!
Wicked, the bass sounds so strong, what effect, if any did you use?
Thanks @Toastedghost , Bass was Hard Axis Bass from Roli Noise Structure sound pack with some Lush Reverb from TB Reverb
Quick creation using the Hard Swing setting just introduced. The area I live in is famous for its brass bands and the motifs seemed to fit so this is the result…

These are excellent demos of Piano Motifs for building complex compositions, @GeoTony.
The "hard swing" option opens more possibilities. I'll probably investigate mixing "hard swing" with straight 8ths' by saving MIDI files and using LK or a DAW with MIDI to mix them together.
Not sure if this is an off the wall request but is there any chance of showing the chord playing next to the bar ? This does just keep getting better and and better so thank you !
A preview of a new Piano Motifs feature coming soon. Can you guess what is?
This would only be possible right now for motifs with programmed chord progressions. For randomly generated motifs chord progressions aren’t readily available (dependent on many internal parameters).
Repeating the created sequence?
Hope it's automatic 'pressing' of the New button. This would have removed the human input on this https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/46564/do-we-still-need-humans
@iskander, yes there is repetition there, but that is a feature that PM has always had.
@GeoTony,
, I guess a human will still be needed.
The new feature is in the melody. In this motif the melody is played on a piano and the accompaniment on a synth pad.
Polyphonic melodies?
Yes, @lukesleepwalker! To be more precise it is a random harmonization of some melody notes with the 3rd or 6th intervals. You are really good at this. If I recall correctly you also were the first to identify swing rhythm when it was to be introduced.
Every blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. 😉
Looking forward to this one—sounds great to me!
It's been a while since I contributed a demo of this great little app. I picked out a nice variation from the offered defaults and saved it to 2 MIDI files (melody and accompaniment). I imported the MIDI's into a StaffPad session and assigned some instruments. I rendered the results into 4 Wave files and loaded them into AUM file players and then picked out a Pure Piano line over the top of the whole thing. Recorded and uploaded to SoundCloud. So, simple to generate some orchestral sounding material than can be used to make some sketches quickly.

A new version of Piano Motifs (v2.45) is now available. This version has the following new feature:
• Added a Melody Harmonize option. When this option is turned on, a 3rd interval or 6th interval harmony note will be randomly generated for some melody notes.
• Minor bug fixes and enhancements.
If you are enjoying Piano Motifs please consider leaving a review in the App Store.
Enjoy!
