@filo01, glad to hear you’re finding the tutorials helpful. Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately iOS screen recording doesn’t provide an easy way to do this especially when you have to combine taps and swipes. I’ll see if in the future I can find a different set of recording tools to be able to do this. If you have any questions about anything in the tutorials please contact me at azul3dapps(at)gmail(dot)com.
I'm pretty sure their are none available for iOS that's shows click targets or where you are with your finger or pencil. One workaround is to use a mouse instead, when you do you get a cursor automatically, which are easier to follow. Another is to use arrows or something in a post production to point out where you click. The latter is a bit tedious but once one get's that hang of it, fairly quick.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I find it quite strange their's no iOS option as many apps show your fingers location in other contexts (e.g GeoShred with it's blinking stars)
Thank you, that's very kind of you. I did my homework yesterday and read all 64 pages here which gave me many answers for my questions. I still have some confusion about specific scenarios, but I want to go through all your tutorials first.![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/7s6HCbeRrwM/0.jpg)
Back to the targeting circle - I meant something like this
@filo01, I know that user manuals aren't everybody's cup of tea, but the Piano Motif's user manual is pretty detailed and comprehensive. You can find it under Help on the top right.
A new version of Piano Motifs (v4.41) is now available. What’s new in this version:
• Added the ability to create a second Melody Sequence (Seq 1). Now you can create melody sequences that span 2 bars.
• Improved the Chord & Arp and the Slow Arpeggio Accomp Style generation algorithms.
• Fixed issue in Arpeggio w/Bass Accomp Style, where the bass wasn't being played on the last bar of the motif.
• Fixed issue where if you programmed a Melody Sequence the last bar of the motif didn't honor the programmed beats.
Try it out! BTW, reviews in the App Store help a bunch, so if you like Piano Motifs, you like all these new features and have some time, please consider leaving a review in the App Store.
Enjoy!
I’ll try it out tonight. Thanks for letting us know![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
It’s a good day when this thread is updated by @azul3D_Apps because it’s usually announcing a new update of the app.
I wish more developers used this continua improvement model spread over several years of enhancements. I do hope users respond periodically with “tips”.
Hi @azul3D_Apps
Thanks so much for your support and continued development. I’ve just posted what I hope is a glowing review on the App Store in the UK. Please keep up the great work 👍😀
@jking, thanks for leaving a review, it’s greatly appreciated!
In another thread @McD was mentioning that the Mini Orchestra app can work well with Piano Motifs so I decided to give it a try. What do you think?
Wow this sounds great! Was curious how these would work together. Much appreciated 🙏
Nice demo!
Reminds me of "Out to Space" by Ryuichi Sakamoto
@GovernorSilver, thanks!
Yes, it's a chord progression used in many epic sounding soundtracks (the Marvel theme also, for example). It starts with a I-I-bIII-bIII-I-I-bIII-bIII (bIII, being from the parallel minor scale). In the video the scale is GMaj, so it is: G-G-Bb-Bb-G-G-Bb-Bb.
Sounds lovely. I just recently started using Piano Motifs and really dig what you've done. Please keep up the fantastic work.
Piano Motifs can also send its MIDI from the standalone (outside a DAW like AUM) directly into Mini Orchestra Standalone BUT you only hear the music with Mini Orchestra up front (i.e. it doesn’t support background audio).
Changing the Mini Orchestra Presets (or mute groups) for each loop makes a quick ad hoc arrangement from a single Piano Motifs loop.
The instrumentation will allow vary with changes in volume: tympani for example only sounds for notes louder than 80 or so.
I would like to ask you for advice with quite simple task from my point of view. I would like to make motif just with accompaniment.
My scenario is:
Let say I'm satisfied now with generated pattern so I set Accompaniment octave shift and lock Accomp on main page.
Now I want to change one chord in progression WITHOUT any other changes.
But if I do that and press play the new pattern is generated and replace the previous one.
Is there a solution for this scenario within this app?
Hi @filo01, the Accompaniment Lock function is defined in such a way that exactly the same notes are played on the Accompaniment on the next motif generated, so when you change the chord progression the lock is cleared because this condition can't be met anymore. So unfortunately you can't currently do what you're intending to do.
@azul3D_Apps Thanks, your "currently" gives me a little hope for the future![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
A Piano Motifs update with some outstanding fixes is now available (v4.42). What’s new in this update:
• Improved Melody Sequence note selection algorithm.
• Fixed issue when loading a saved motif that has the Slow Arpeggio Accomp Style. When played this motif can have silent bars on the 3rd track.
• Fixed issue where in some cases the second Melody Sequence (Seq1) wasn't being generated.
• Fixed crash that could occur in some cases when selecting a second motif in the Arrangement Screen and the Library sorting is by Time Signature.
• Fixed crash when the number of bars is defined to be a value greater than 16, you perform a Progression Lock and then reduce the number of bars to a value less than 16.
• Fixed issue where when retrieving a motif from the AUv3 Saved State, if the Key and Scale were random for the motif, the Key and Scale will not be displayed initially but only after the motif is played.
Also, a new installment of the Accomp Style Tutorial Series is available in YouTube:
Edit: meant to write “with fixes for some outstanding issues” but will leave as is for laughs and giggles 😀.
These fixes are certainly outstanding 😀 Many thanks @azul3D_Apps 🙏
🤣, just realized how it can actually sound.
Beautiful sound, I wish I understood the app a tiny fraction of what you do!
@jking, Thanks! I have been trying to share some app knowledge with some tutorials in my YouTube channel. Also, even though it's probably not the way to learn for some people, there is a very comprehensive manual in the app that contains some tips. The manual can be found by pressing the Help button on the top right.
Thanks, I’ve found your tutorials useful and I’m making my way through the manual 👍😁
A new version of Piano Motifs is now available (v4.43). What’s new in this version:
• Added two new options for the Melody Constraint setting: Ascending and Descending. When Ascending is selected, melody notes on a motif phrase will have an upward trend. When Descending is selected, melody notes on a motif phrase will have a downward trend.
• Improved the Melody generation algorithm for more variation.
Enjoy!
Thanks for the update😃👍 I listened to your demo on YouTube, now I can try it for myself!
Fantastic update, thank you!
Hey @azul3D_Apps , I got a thought on my mind and just wanted to hear if it's even possible: to see a text indicator of the current chord playing and a super useful next. See image over what went into my head.😂 If this is not doable, no problem.
I was thinking the same think about wanting to know more than just the current Key/Scale. I’d love to see the chord in current play so I could use that information if I’m playing along or if I noticed that the chord progression I input could use changes.
I hope this makes its way onto an update. I’d drop a tip in the app for the effort.
+1, great idea!
