  • Thanks for your continued support and development, it’s really appreciated 😀👍

  • Nice Update! Thank you.

  • Breaking the chord/bass accompaniment like this saves a lot of time/frustration with having to continually hit the "Next" button until you get the right feel. Question for you @azul3D_Apps: There's an "Any" option and a "Random" option--what is the difference between the two?

  • @bluegroove, @jking, @Pxlhg, I appreciate your comments about the update 🙏. Hopefully this can help in selecting an appropriate accompaniment for your Piano Motifs music.

Hi @lukesleepwalker, the "Any" option is like selecting Chord & Bass in the past, it selects from all the different types of Chord & Bass accompaniments. The "Random" option actually selects randomly either a Chord, a Bass note, or a rest for every beat of a motif, so it is a type of Chord & Bass accompaniment.

Oh, very cool! I just experimented with random and it returns some interesting results. Thanks again for more treasures in the treasure box!

A new version of Piano Motifs (v4.52) is now available. What's new in this version:
    • Divided the Chord Accomp Style into 5 different types (All, Even, Odd, Vary) for finer control of accompaniment. See manual for type description.
    • Divided the Bass Accomp Style into 7 different types (All, Even, Odd, U/D, D/U, 1/3, 1/5) for finer control of accompaniment. See manual for type description.
    • Fixed issue where the Chord&Bass Vary accomp wasn’t being generated correctly for certain programmed chord progressions.
    • Fixed issue where Settings reset wasn't being applied to Chord&Bass types

    From the manual:

    Chord Accomp Style
Any: The accompaniment is randomly chosen from all the other accompaniment types.
All: The accompaniment is a chord that is played on every 1/8 beat.
Even: The accompaniment is composed of 1/4 chords that are played on the even 1/8 beats. Example: For a 4/4 time signature the chord will be played on beats 2,4,6 and 8.
Odd: The accompaniment is composed of 1/4 chords that are played on the odd beats. Example: For a 4/4 time signature the chord will be played on beats 1,3,5 and 7.
Vary: The accompaniment is a chord with variations over the basic chord.

    Bass Accomp Style
Any: The accompaniment is randomly chosen from all the other accompaniment types.
All: The accompaniment is a bass note that is played on every 1/8 beat.
Even: The accompaniment is composed of 1/4 bass notes that are played on the even 1/8 beats. Example: For a 4/4 time signature the bass will be played on beats 2,4,6 and 8. TIP: This accompaniment could be used for Rave/EDM music styles where the kick drum plays on beats 1,3,5 and 7.
Odd: The accompaniment is composed of 1/4 bass notes that are played on the odd beats. Example: For a 4/4 time signature the bass will be played on beats 1,3,5 and 7.
U/D: (Up/Down Octave Bass Line) The accompaniment will be a bass pattern that alternates 1/8 bass root notes with an octave difference, starting at the higher octave. Example: C2 C1. Tip: This accompaniment could be used for EDM/Techno/House music styles.
D/U: (Down/Up Octave Bass Line) The accompaniment will be a bass pattern that alternates 1/8 bass root notes with an octave difference, ending at the higher octave. Example: C1 C2. Tip: This accompaniment could be used for EDM/Techno/House music styles.
1/3: (Root/Third Bass Line) The accompaniment will be a bass pattern that alternates 1/8 root notes and third notes of the chord being played.
1/5: (Root/Fifth Bass Line) The accompaniment will be a bass pattern that alternates 1/8 root notes and fifth notes of the chord being played.

    Try them all!

My word you’re on fire, you’re like some kind of app developer ninja 🥷🏾😂 Just to let you know that everything you do is very much appreciated 🙏👍

  • @jking, Thanks 🥷😀. Hope you can get some good use out of all the new features.

  • Hello,
I can't generate patterns on the fly, I have to stop to be able to click on generate.
I've tried 'append mode' but no luck :-( Is this possible?
I don't want to stop, I'd like to change whenever I want during a live session. B)
    Thanks :-)

I'll let @azul3D_Apps provide the definitive response on your question but I'd like to reframe the request based on my use of the app: even if we can't generate motifs without stopping the currently playing motif, perhaps we could get a twist on the existing Append functionality that "queues" the next motif automatically and allows the user to "advance" to the next one, accepting/rejecting the current motif? Let's see what the maestro says.

Sure, my assumption is that the user wants to tweak any setting before generating the next motif that they would need to stop, tweak, and then generate.

Hi @lukesleepwalker, currently due to the way the app is coded it isn't possible to add such functionality.

If it's day it's possible ready to test (i like the 'currently ;-) )

  • A new version of Piano Motifs (v4.53) is now available. What's new in this version:

    • Added Tonic Drone options for the Note Sustain Mult Bar Accomp Style. When these Tonic Drone options are used, different notes of the Tonic Chord are played continuously during the motif. The options are (e.g. CMaj): 1 (C), 1-3 (C-E), 1-5 (C-G). This Accomp Style is great for Pad or String instruments (instruments with high Sustain values) which can be used in Ambient Style tracks.
    • Added a Randomize Velocity Setting. When this mode is On, the note velocities will have a slight random shift up or down from their default value (AUv3 Only).
    • Improved arpeggio generation algorithm for more variety.
    • Fixed crash that can occur when programming a Melody Sequence and the motif has internal 4 bar repeat sequences.

Please note that velocity randomization is performed during playback, so every time you play a motif the note velocities will be different. Also, when exporting to MIDI there will be no random velocities. The velocities will be the defaults generated for the motif.

    Enjoy!

  • Sounds like an awesome update. Looking forward to playing with it.

  • A new version of Piano Motifs (v4.54) is now available. What's new in this version:
    • Added the ability to select a value that will determine the range of velocity randomization.
    • Improved the Melody triplet generation algorithm.
    • Improved the arpeggio generation algorithm for more variety.
    • Fixed crash that happens when a programmed chord progression is cleared by changing the scale if triplets are set.

If you enjoy using Piano Motifs and like all its new features please consider leaving a review in the App Store.

    Enjoy!

  • Thanks Fernando 👍

  • A new version of Piano Motifs (v4.55) is now available. What's new in this version:
    • Added a Melody setting that allows the generation of 16th notes in a motif. Please note that 16th notes are generated opportunistically in the melody. Motifs where the Melody Note Frequency is low might not have 16th notes.
    • Small fixes and improvements.

She's actually pretty gentle when she wants food, just some touches without claws in the face, head, or hand. Now, when she's in attack mode (playing), she can be vicious 😸.
