  • Just won a code for this!! Will dive in tonight

  • @VirSyn: when standalone, most triggers coming from sensel morph are not recognised, only each 10th hit on the surface or so. Seems like it only listens on one midichannel, or something else...? Works beautifully as AUV3 and IAA.
Thank you for this great synth!

  • This makes it much easier to program now you can solo the parts and blocks.
It would be nice to have a selection of presets for the blocks. Would it be be possible to import single cycle waveforms and have them converted to harmonics?

    +1

Some kind of harmonic presets for the blocs would be great !

So the parameters—the many many parameters!—are exposed and mappable. But apparently they are not yet automate-able (new word?). Can anyone confirm this? I have a short video that I believe demonstrates this if this is a bug and needs verification.

They were beta parameters exposed by accident so no I don't think they are working....but need to test. The new update has less parameters, not sure if they're functioning either.

+2 Agreed we really need this - otherwise you're kind of stumbling around in the dark trying to create new presets. Addictive Synth Pro had Wave and Spectrum presets - maybe these could be ported over somehow?

I ran a quick test but was unable to map or automate so guess it was just a list of parameters they are planning to be made available. Soon hopefully......

That’s interesting. I could map, but the automation doesn’t work.

  • I agree that some way to save and load Blocks (rather than full sounds) is something this is crying out for. From an interface point of view, it could be added to the menu that appears if you long press a Block. This would make it much easier to recombine existing Blocks in interesting ways and build your own library of Blocks you like. The idea could be extended to Parts, but I feel it is Blocks that would be the most useful level to include this.

Can anyone explain what the 'fractal' and 'extent' parameters do? They are mentioned in the manual but not explained and I have yet to hear any soloed block where they make any difference to the sound.

Edit: ah, extent just determines the extent of the randomization. Still haven't figured out what fractal is doing.

Also I have had some issues where I pressed the dice to randomise a block but it randomised only once and then would no longer randomise even after repeatedly pressing the dice. This is currently happening to me on block one of part one the morphbrain patch @VirSyn anyone else getting these issues?

Edit : that is because extent was set to 0 🤐

  • Could we maybe get a way to latch/hold notes on the standalone keyboard? It would make it easier to tweak with both hands while listening when making patches @virsyn

  • This thing is bloody brilliant by the way, great job @VirSyn

  • Pan knob in parts section has a problem: when you pan to the left it actually pans to the right, and vice versa @VirSyn

  • Would still really like to see left/right arrows for easy scrolling through preset menus @VirSyn

  • Noise Mod section is completely missing from the manual. All the other part sections have a section in the manual, so this is surely an accidental omission @VirSyn

  • @Gavinski fractal, like extent, is a parameter for the dice. So you set them first and then randomize using those settings. Fractal basically sets the shape of the randomization, kind of like number of points on a curve. Higher numbers make the results more jagged and noisy, lower values are more like a graph line.
Hard to describe using words, this really calls for images heh
Best way to see it in action is hit init, set it to 1 and hit randomize. Init again and set it higher, etc, to see how each level looks.
Also it works with extent and is accumulative. So you can say set it to 1 and do a large extent randomization to get a shape, then turn extent way down and fractal all the way up to add a little noisy variation on top.

It is a shame that the settings don’t work in conjunction with the odd and even toggles though.

  • Thanks a lot @nreidt! I thought it maybe looked like it was related to jaggedness but later I saw I got some very jagged stuff even with low fractal settings. I'll look into it again

  • Yup, seeing that now, I probably had extent too low earlier to notice it 👍👍

  • Actually, no... Turns out for that high and low fractal settings are not very noticeable when randomising harmonics, but very noticeable with something like decay. I was trying it on harmonics earlier which is why it wasn't very noticeable

The manual refers to (and shows a pic of) a group button for applying one arp to all 4 parts simultaneously. This ‘group’ button is no longer there, I’m wondering why @VirSyn

  • edited September 2020

    [sorted]

  • Finally found the ‘hold keys’ button, it is in the arp section. I wonder if this button could be put somewhere where it is visible all the time - for example the space just under the words ‘AddStation’ on the top left - that space is always free. @VirSyn

  • Would also be useful if, when ‘hold keys’ is selected, the keys actually STAYED lit up after they are pressed in standalone @VirSyn

  • Can anyone explain how the ‘sort keys’ button works?

+1 on this - it’s really needed, I would say

  • @Gavinski you are really digging this one. Kudos for your efforts. I hope @VirSyn sees this.

  • Yeah bro, a full day of work went in today to exploring this Parts section to make sure I understood it and and making the video. Punctuated by visits to this forum of course 😂. Pt 2 video is being uploaded to youtube as we speak.

  • The app still has some resizing issues when used as an AUv3 @VirSyn

Reposting this Pt 2 video on the sequencer/arp/parts sections here for posterity although it also has its own thread
