Is anyone else getting a slight saw buzzing sound in between switching presets?

Edit: I just checked and it definitely does NOT do it in the standalone app. Something to do with AUM? Or this AUv3.

So, nobody else getting a noise in between switching presets using the AU?

I haven’t noticed any on my ol’ Air 2, even when playing. Which is actually a bit surprising to me. Try changing presets while playing in BASSalicious 2, PureSynth Platinum or AudioKit FM Player some time.

Oh, remember I have all my PSP and Bassalicious (which is part of PSP) presets installed on the external microSD card, so I figured switching would be a little noisy there.

Thing is with DC though, is I can fly through the presets with the transport running in standalone noise free. It’s just the AU that does this.

  • @wim said:
Nothin’ like that here. Maybe its because I’m on 13.7. What’s your buffer setting in AUM? Are you using an audio interface?

Buffer size 512. I only use my interface if I’m at my desk. At the moment I’m not.

I’ll try a different buffer setting and see what happens. Thanks!

  • @JohnnyGoodyear said:
@Intrepolicious sorry to say that IS obnoxious....

Indeed it is! Of course switching presets like that isn’t something I’d do in the middle of a piece, so it doesn’t affect the usability of the AU, but it is annoying.

  • So I tried switching my buffer setting in AUM to 1024 and that seems to have fixed it! Then switched back to 512 and the noise is gone! Thanks @wim!

  • Yes, when it first came out, I recall exactly that. As recently as yesterday. Strangely, I’m not getting that now. Wish I could recall if it was occurring in the standalone the AUV3 or both. In any case, all good here for now.

I suppose restarting the iPad would have had the same effect. Oh well, it’s fixed now and at least now I’ll know what to do if that issue comes back.

  • Must have been a dirty buffer :)

    That dirty muther buffer 😂

Can you explain what you're trying to do?

Here is where the tutorials discuss the mapping zones:

Each of the 8 engines is transmitted as a different MIDI note, determined by the markers in the mapping zone.

The SBComputerKeys mapping will map the 8 engines to 8 of the 12 Tings.

Thanks for the advice - the video and your short explanation solved my problem - I wasn’t aware yet of how the mapping works ... but now it’s very easy to make specific set-ups of mappings in DC (and to save them!! Great option) - in order to reach specific sounds inside of Ting !!

  • When you change songs it changes the tempo... Uh Oh. Any menu that locks the tempo?

  • DrumComputer v1.0.2 released

    • fixed crash when sending MIDI out in iPadOS 14.2
    • improved preset handling (with next and previous buttons)
    • Ableton Link support for iPadOS 14

I did for awhile but seems to have gone away. Not, but it may have been fixed when I updated so to 14.2

  • The new prev/next buttons for the presets and samples are very convinient and save lots of taps 😀
The update also fixed the noise while preset switching in the AU.

Thanks a lot for the update 👍🏼

so agree, the presets are so much better to search now!

Ah! So I Wasn't the only one!

Yup! All is working well now, and I’m a happy DC camper!

  • Plus plus on the update, esp. pre/next buttons.

  • This is great stuff. Loving creating custom sounds. A question though. Does anyone understand the pitch meters. Are they semi tones? There is pitch for all the oscillators. How do you know what key the final product comes out as?

That would be next to impossible. The pitch is affected by three different sources, modulations, and envelopes.

Is there a tool available on iOS that can accurately identify the pitch of single sounds?

Accurately? With a percussive sound? Sometimes, I guess.

I would use the free TB Spectrogram app. You can place your finger on the part of the spectrum where the fundamental frequency seems to settle into after the attack and envelope. The note at that frequency is displayed. Other's may have better suggestions.

Sweet, didn't even think about that app. Thanks!

The numbers in the pitch circles are in semi-tones with 0, 12, 24, 36, 48.. being the note C in different octaves, and every number in between is a step in the chromatic scale.

Anyone with an answer about locking tempo between songs?

  • Seems when importing you can’t audition first. There’s no way add files/folders to the Drumcomputer folder in the iOS files app right? Also, no send to Drumcomputer from the iOS share sheet?

Oscilloscope and Spectrogram from Mani Consulting / Blue Mango is also pretty good for that.

Actually, Audioshare can audition before import to Drumcomputer.

    Thanks.. and edit (normalize) too..

Edit.. wow.. little vocal snippets etc.. wow.. this thing just got a lot more interesting... 👍

  • Love the grooves that Drum Computer can create. Took me in unexpected direction here. Also, using the wavetables oscillators in Drambo here with miRack.
