I'd prefer it if the timing update got rolled back. Although the lag wasn't good and obviously restricted how this could be used at least the tracks themselves were together. For making drum loops or just jamming in standalone using the sequencer it wasn't that bad. I haven't touched this since the kick got left behind.
Damn, I didn’t realise that’s what happened.
Yeah I found that quite a strange decision. Latency on the kick stayed the same, all the other tracks improved.
Extensive bug list, cpu hog and unusable in some situations but still best au drum machine for iPhone...maybe...
I've thought this for a long time, but never said anything.. your music gives super strong impressions of Gridlock. Do you listen to them by any chance? Seems like it'd be just your cup of brutali-tea.
Definitely, thanks for the compliment. Their first 2 albums are still in heavy rotation.
can you send midi a not this app to play the kit? if so what notes are they on?
Another update just dropped, the timing issues remain unfixed.
The timing issue will never be fixed.
I realised this as soon as AK suddenly stopped referring to the timing issue in their release notes (about 2 months ago)
I can only recommend using this app for sample fodder.
What if the person in charge of the kick just use a sample and didn’t tell them?
A sample with silence before the kick that causes it to sound like it was triggered late.
There was some speculation on that. The thing is that the other instruments also lag. Initially the lag was the same for all (25ms) but after an update the lag was halved to 12ms for all instruments except the kick.
I know. At this point it’s just a reflex. I see update, I measure, I bitch.
Utterly pointless, perhaps Samuel Beckett could have made a play out of it.
‘Waiting for sod all’😂
It's a very small problem in the scheme of things, but it kind of makes me think I'll never get an AudioKit app, and I'm glad I didn't get one of those ugly mugs!
EDIT: But, um, if you do have one of those AudioKit mugs, I'm sure it's very high quality!
They brought us Bass 808 so I can forgive them. If I had the choice I would take Bass 808 with the dodgy 909 as opposed to not having the opportunity to have either of them - every time. Maybe that’s just me 🤪
I have a perfect TR-909, I want one , portable , on my iPad, and it has to work, and (most important), be in time.
Audiokit have shit in the nest with this one, and they can’t be bothered fixing the mess.
I just don’t get that what otherwise is an awesome drum app can have timing issues that seem to be totally ignored and not addressed in any way. 🤔
They also didn’t respond to me on FB when I asked about it. They are pretty active on FB as well so it felt like a dodge. Oh well. Cheap as chips, I know.
In fairness, they are aware of it and they are definitely bothered by it so I wound guess that for some bizarre reason or other it is unfixable. All I know is that next time an AudioKit app comes out ppl need to beta the heck out of the timing.... Was scary to see that Mynth arp was also off, but that one managed to get fixed quickly somehow.... Here must be something about the 909 that eludes repair
I kinda love that little mistimed machine...even the way it won’t shut up sometimes...it’s kinda like a freaky little delay...hey Gav😎
Are these timing issues reason to be concerned with building AUv3 on top of their AudioKit open source framework? Does anyone know if the issues are inherent to that architecture or strictly an issue with how they built on top of it?
If Audiokit can’t/won’t fix it, I would doubt if any users on the forum know anything more
I ask because it seems several members here have experience using the framework
After reading this thread it seems its not necessary to ask but i‘ll do it nonetheless:timing/sync issues still there?
Yes.
Sequencer timing was improved and some sounds were tightened up to be be better on the beat. But the ridiculous delay on the kick drum has never been fixed.
okay, thanks.I‘m very picky about timing related things etc so that‘s a pass for me.
Yes. As @wim said, they ‚improved‘ it a bit. You still get the 25ms for the kick but the rest of the instruments are down to around 12ms.
It's fantastic for sample fodder though - as long as you know how to trim samples.
Shame because I love its UX as auv3
I have enough good samples, saves me some work now 😉
