What sampler features are currently unavailable on iOS?

Roland variphrase / elastic audio. Izotope Iris spectral sample selection.

But between Audiolayer, Beatmaker 3, Samplr, Drambo, SunVox, Koala, and Borderlands - just about everything else has been done.

I think most of the generally/typically desired features have been hit on in various ways in multiple places but it is just a question of what umbrella/workflow they live under at any given moment. Things being spread out across multiple apps is not appealing (to me and the people that this app would appeal to).

Yeah but isn't that the case with any app on iOS when you're making music?

I was just replying to ‘ What sampler features are currently unavailable on iOS?’. I wasn’t referring to production in general.

I get where @DukeWonder is coming from, as I think all humans have a proclivity to think in self-centered ways. But it's an Internet forum where all the people with all the self-centered ways are ENCOURAGED to spout off about their self-centered needs. I mean, why is it any less valid for someone who works in an AUv3 workflow to say "sorry, not for me" than someone who says "yep, I'm fine with limits given the price point and the fact that I work mostly on my PC"? Nobody has to feel bad for anyone who is making a buying decision based on their own needs.

So that’s the thing. I don’t think anyone has any more right than anyone else to express preferences. But this crowd is pretty quick to seem something worthless and demonize the developers because it doesn’t meet their specific needs. I see it all the time.

Sometimes an app isn’t for you and that’s fine. Doesn’t by any means make it okay to trash it. That’s childish and sad.

It's childish and sad to extrapolate an opinion on future events based on your previous experiences and knowledge? I mean, isn't that what is happening? I sometimes think that today is the day my car gets scraped by that shitty driver from number 45.

I really don't find the humans here any different from the humans anywhere else.

  • The question is, is it as fast as Koala Sampler fo getting samples into the app?
    Looks nice though :)

This! And Elliotts apps, drag and drop via files app is convenient!
But the screenshot showing above, before the video is played looks a lot to me like the AUXY app we had back in the days (before it went subscription ;))

  • Wait, no IAA, no au? How do I get off the mailing list?

  • How is it really going to be all that different from what we already have is my question. 🤷🏽‍♂️

    Ease of use, hopefully!

  • Maybe I’m missing something somewhere but I don’t know of any iOS samplers with sample sequencing, pattern sequencing, and the level of sample editing that we see in the screenshots.

Koala comes close, but different workflow probably, and different experience using each app.
Samplr is awesome, but I always wish it was on my phone.

But really, if this app doesn’t invent something new, previously unseen and un imagined, it can go to hell, says I.
    🤣

    BM3?

That’s a full DAW, not a sampler. And the workflow is pretty funky. Also iPad only.

  • At 10$ I would skip it and wait for the inevitable Easter sale ;)

  • I was kind of hoping it would be subscription.
That would have triggered an epic forum meltdown.
    🤣

    The IAPs might be.

    One can but hope. :D

  • $9.99 is ok with me as it seems to be fairly complete...

Considering that the Elastic Drums dude is baking this I suppose we can automate things like sample-start and loop parameters which is already possible in Elastic Drums :D

  • Looks like if you’re into the iMPC pro 2 type of thing you'd like it, but it has to be pretty interesting to make my app list these days, just seems a bit too mainstream for me :)

  • I see touchable pro creators have said they created the app also. Are they same as elastic drums or have multiple app creators been involved ?

Two devs were involved, elastic drums dev was one, I guess the other must be them then.

Thats a solid combo. I think I'll be checking this

  • If they made this an Auv3 host, it could almost be an actual DAW. Wow I’m even more excited about it now.

  • I think this app is going to make a lot of fans. Workflow looks really slick. Can only cross fingers and hope that it gets some 'pro' connectivity, despite the maturity and capability it already appears to posses. If it turns out to be as good as I think it will be, then I'd buy it once it becomes AU or can host AU's. Till then I'll watch with interest from the sideline.

Looking good, hope we can trim the samples before saving them :D
(And my main gripe, when using an audio-interface be able to select the input for sampling and monitor it).

Guess more videos will pop before it drops.

  • I like it. I will give it a spin for sure.

  • Wonder if it supports more than 9 pads?
From the looks of it it does support automation of sample-start which is always a welcome addition.

And I guess the number of IAP sound packs will grow with time...

Export covers mix down and stems so that's good...
...hopefully everything will can be nicely organized using Files.app :)

So next week, then guess I'll save some store credits for it hehe...

  • fingers crossed it'll fund Elastic Drums and Modstep AUv3 versions :)
