I have been doing more research, watching videos etc. (Big win getting Tim to do the tutorials. He does them so well). I did see one video/stream, however, in which a commenter suggested that the MIDI lean would only be available for internal stuff and not AUV3 plugins. Is that correct?

True, not even for Evolution One. As I wrote earlier in this thread, at this point I only want to have the functionality equal to the Android version as a first step. More functionality will come later.

Also curious about a few other things. Does AEM allow for audio-clip trim/normalise/reverse? Does it have crossfading between clips. Also, is there only provision for 2 sends?

Sure, all of them. Unlimited sends.

Don't want to bother you with a ton more questions, so perhaps there is an up-to-date manual?

    Absolutely, please see here:
    https://www.audio-evolution.com/manual/ios

Thanks for the very prompt response!

Great, on all counts. Will definitely spend some time with the manual.

Im guessing it's a negative on the demo version (pretty sure you were replying before I even added the edit)

Initially, the app was free with an in-app purchase to allow for more than 3 tracks etc. That has indeed changed since it hardly brought any income. And Apple does not allow demo/trial versions of apps like I have on Android.

Man...You're on it! Not sure I remember ever having such consistent contact with a developer, on an open forum. Inspires confidence, so props to you.

Shame about the demo, but no probs.

You might take a look at the model that Michael Tyson has adopted for Loopy Pro. There is a free IAP which gives you you seven-days use of all features. There is an additional IAP for permanent unlock.

Thanks, but since the app is paid now for years, it's not really relevant anymore.

Edit: by the way, I'm half-way done with the input from track/bus output.. :)

    Yay!

It is a frequent use-case…it is the reason many still use Auria since on iOS the other popular DAWs don’t have it. Re-sampling is a great way to save CPU and be able to print audio from your synths or audio tracks that have effects that you want to bake in (while retaining the originals for potential reprocessing).

That's what track freeze is for.

    Case #1:
Midi synth track . You might have synth tracks where you want to keep the midi around as a safety but would prefer to just record the output as audio and treat it as an audio track.

When unfreezing, you get the MIDI back.

Case 2: save sub-group mix. You have several tracks (possibly drums where each part is in its own track of horn parts or layered guitar parts) and you have gotten to a point where you want to record that as a track.

    Solo it, mix-down and import.

Case 3: you have an audio or midi instrument track and you want to record a real-time audio performance of real-time manipulation through effects and what not (and not capture automation).

    Ok, that's a valid reason. :)

Anyway, I have adding this feature on Android. Now I'm adding it to the iOS version.

  • It is great to hear that it’s coming.

The workflow/convenience is quite different in actual use. It is probably hard to appreciate the difference if it isn’t a part of how one works. I won’t be-labor the point. But it really is different in fluidity.

Yes, you can accomplish the same thing this way , but it is time-consuming and a flow killer.

It's probably workflow, since both freezing and mix-down is quicker since they are non-realtime, whereas when recording an output, you need to wait the entire time (5 minutes if your project is 5 minutes and perhaps 30 seconds for mixdown or 10 seconds for freeze). But anyway, it's going to be there. Choice is good. :)

  • Thanks for adding this feature in, it's something I will make use of.

  • Guys, I bought Audio Evolution Mobile to use on my iPad Pro M1. The main reason was the promise of being able to change time and measure. I use time change a lot, rall..., acell....But I'm upset because the dev told me that he send the update 10 days ago to apple and we still haven't received it on the Appstore. In the same period android has already received 3 updates. Is Apple always like this? this is very frustrating.

Well, since you refunded the app, it should not really bother you that much I suppose..
Anyway, Apple indeed took more than a week to review and release the beta update and only since today they approved the in-app purchase for the Toneboosters Enhancer V4. That means that only starting from today, I can do some final testing and make an actual release.

To put things in perspective: I have an update for another Android app that is in review for about 3 weeks now, while updates to AEM on Android were accepted within hours.

First of all, I would like once again to thank you immensely for the answer. Really no app I have has a developer so dedicated to responding. Congratulations! As for the refund, I actually because I had decided to use another app as my DAW. I particularly don't like to keep several apps for the same function. I like to dedicate myself to an app and get the best out of it. But studying the other app more in depth, I decided to really stick with AEM. That's why I'm so anxious waiting for v5 to start the recording. As soon as the new version is released I will buy it right away. Good to know that we are close to the official release then! I'm looking forward to making the purchase again! Congratulations! Thank you very much.
    Big hug!

  • @dwrae thanks for putting Enhancer inside AEM! I’m super excited about the next update (whenever apple approves it!)

  • All good? Any news about the appstore update?

Found quite some issues yesterday in the 'final' test. Most of them are fixed now. I will get the last (known) issue fixed today and will upload it after that. Then it depends on how quick Apple is in releasing it.

  • Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but does Audio Evolution support manual automatic recording of third part fx? So, for example, can I add an Audiodamage fx delay and record/automate the settings?

For AUv3, yes, but not for IAA.

@dwrae Could you probably add a search function for plugins?

The best implementation has AudioBus, where you can choose the spot you want to add a plugin (MIDI sender, MIDI effect, MIDI receiver, Audio sender, Audio effedt, Audio receiver) and the search within all available plugins, even restricted to caterories like System, Favorites, IAA Apps or AUv3.

I sometimes even stop trying things in AEM or Cubasis when scrolling around in my endless plugin lists takes too long.

It's still on the todo list and I will implement for instrument selection at least when I will convert the instrument selection dialog from the iOS UI to the new/JUCE UI.

  • Hi again.

@dwrae I'm wondering if you ever plan to add a scaleable mixer view option to the main arrange-page?

    Thanks :)

I hardly say no, but in this case, don't count on it anytime soon, sorry.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

I understand you must have a huge list of things waiting to be implemented, but I think it'd be a real shame if it never happened.

    Will keep watching :)

Probably should also have requested the same for optional nested FX.

But I'll assume the same answer, for now ;)

Version 5 has been submitted for app review. Now let's hope Apple releases it soon!
