    Glitchmachines Sound Design Bundle.

    https://vstbuzz.com/deals/95-off-sound-design-bundle-by-glitch-machines/

12 euros or about 14 bucks depending on your currency of preference, which is a pretty great price.

    Includes

Cataract – A Segment Multiplexer for Electronic Music Production and Experimental Sound Design

Quadrant – A Modular Sound Generator & Effects Processor geared towards Experimental Sound Design & Electronic Music Production

Polygon 2.0 – A Hybrid Sampler plugin designed to facilitate the creation of mind bending Composite Sound Effects & unusual Instrument Patches

Cryogen – A Modular Buffer Effects Processor Designed to Generate Abstract Musical Malfunctions

Does anyone have / use these? $14 + 1.5gig of drive space Seems like an offer hard to refuse, unless the former (price) doesn’t justify the latter (drive space) which is hard to imagine but possible(?)

  • @Proppa Yes, I picked it up yesterday. Most of that drive space is for the included samples and loops. You don't need the samples to use the plugins, but some of the presets won't work without them. You can put them on an external drive, too.

Here's a nice little summary I found on Reddit by user yellowmix:

"Cataract is probably the most iconoclastic of the bunch. You don't play or trigger it with MIDI, it just plays as long as the transport does. It can MIDI learn parameters that modify the four samples that are looping, each of the two sides has up to 5 states. Just hitting the randomize buttons on the bottom right (?ctl, ?smp) can yield interesting results. Gate makes it not dominate the rest of your song too much while yielding candy.

Quadrant is a flexible multi-FX that is also capable of generative sound. Cryogen has fixed filtering and crushing FX but the star of the show is the buffer repeater, hence the name alluding to freezing the buffer.

Polygon 2.0 is similar to Cataract in that you load up to 4 samples in granulizers, but you trigger and play it pitched with MIDI. It's the closest thing they have to a traditional synthesizer. It's monophonic.

If you've used Unfiltered Audio plugins these are its more raw forebears."

Atlas has finally been updated to V2 and WHOOOOOAAAAA BABY!!!😱

It’s not on sale but it’s already very cheap for what it does. Very similar to XO by XLN audio but I dig Atlas more and the lead Dev Matt. He’s a cool guy and very responsive. Also, it’s almost half the price and pretty much the same feature set.

    Anyways, check it out here:

    https://algonaut.audio/

Any specifics as to what you like better in Atlas over XO? I thought I remembered people grumbling about Atlas although that was before this update. Looks pretty interesting to me. I have XO and like it, just wondering if it's worth doubling up?

I love the sequencer in A2. So much is packed in there and it is very intuitive. As a UI/UX guy myself, the sequencer and Atlas overall is beautiful and dead simple. You have to really explore the Ui as many advanced features are tucked neatly under hard presses as to not clutter up the work space but it’s significantly better than what I remember in XO.

Also, maps are great organizing tools replacing lame sample folders. Creating maps are quick and browsing them is easy and compelling way to finding the right vibe. The ability to randomize and lock sounds on any pad layout is amazing also.

I think XO is limited to 8 sounds but I could be wrong. Atlas goes up to 64 and has presets for pretty much all popular midi controllers.

The one big gripe for now, you can’t export kits as wavs like XO and Atlas 1 could but I’ve been assured by Matt this will be updated soon.

That aside, I’m a huge fan of it’s dev @MattAlgonaut and his work. He was lead developer for Serato Sample which may be my fav software on desktop after Maschine 2. He’s brilliant, cool and very responsive to feedback and ideas.

I had a lot of interaction with him directly over the years and he always gets back pretty quickly. He’s extremely passionate about Atlas and it shows.

For example, I’ve talked to Matt about having the AI being able to match melodic loops/samples to drum sounds which imo would make Atlas an essential tool within or outside DAWs. He loved the idea, so we’ll see. He’s also shared some of the stuff he’s got coming up soon on the roadmap which I won’t share as i was told in confidence. However, It’s stuff like that and the overall look/feel of Atlas that keeps it my goto over XO.

Finally, I recommend taking it for a spin yourself with the free demo. I think A2 also comes with a money back guarantee so nothing to lose.

Totally agree about Matt being enthusiastic, and open to new ideas. I know Atlas got a bit of a bad rep as development seemed to lag behind XO but the latest version is already pretty great, for the reasons @CapnWillie states, and there's definitely more to come. Admittedly I'm not an XO user but from research I did before going with Atlas I believe it's a better option at a cheaper price...

  • Not really a sale as apparently it's been going on for a while (saw it mentioned in another thread here from January 2020) but - I didn't know about it and it's definitely doesn't stand out on their website at all... Undulator Plugin. by Eventide for Desktop = $19 (whereas everything else in this line of plugins is $99 and up). I dig it on iOS, for $19 can't go wrong for desktop in my view.

Nice, thanks for breaking that down. I am definitely going to check it out now. I may be waiting until that export feature comes along but sounds like a pretty straightforward purchase at $99! XO's sequencer does feel limited in ways I've never been able to put my finger on (on the surface, seems pretty robust). For me, I think the way they have it setup where you only get like 2 bars per "Preset" or whatever they're called really can kill the flow of things. I'll report back after checking this baby out!

    Thanks!

Not sure if you were meaning Atlas 2 when you mentioned a sale since Jan 2020 but if so it couldn’t have been as it was just released recently this year.

I agree about Undulator. Hot sauce at $19.👌🏽

Oops, no I was meaning Undulator - someone else had posted about the $19 sale over a year ago on here figured a refresh couldn't hurt! I've been reading this thread out of order so probably bouncing around - apologies there.

Digging Atlas 2 - really love the maps concept and how you can choose specific sample libraries instead of having to see your entire sample catalog on the map at once (as far as I know, this is the only way it works in xo - everything you've uploaded is all on that main screen).

That kind of pisses me off. They left version 2.0 half-assed, and now they're releasing version 3.0? I would have liked to see work finished on 2.0 rather than me have to pay to upgrade to a new version to get fixes (assuming they actually fixed everything).

Handy video showing the setup in Kontakt / Ableton Live, but should work in most DAWs.
