I and many others have complained about this policy to @ikmultimedia @IK_Multimedia
Why give happy customers a reason to really dislike your company when the developers are doing such an amazing job? It just doesn’t make any sense. Really hope they drop the paid downloads. It just punishes disorganized customers (like me).
They do seem to be listening to customer feedback as the next TRacks install won’t automatically install all of their software which has been the other big complaint, so fingers crossed.
It’s already said - yes - You are able to choose the download path for the samples. At the Product Manager - don’t hit „download“, try the options there...
Now I’m waiting for the next step to get AmplitTubes Leslie, that is all I needed then. It is so astonishing - I thought the critical mass on IK-users has long been reached.
O.K so I bit the bullet and bought Sampletank 4. I just found out that this deal is even better then I thought. Because by buying ST I qualify for crossgrade products so now I can get Syntronik Deluxe & Miroslav as crossgrade because the crosscrade to that is within 299$. Right now the calculation tells me that we will reach at least 10 free products if it just stays stable how many people buy this. That really is one hell of a deal if you literally want everything that IK has to offer.
So now that I'm on board, go spread the word. Tell your friends, tell your mother
Way to go mate. 👊
Genuine question though: do they actually have 10 products in the list of eligible freebies that you want? If we do get to 10, what would you pick?
Don't get me wrong, all power to you. I'm just trying to solve my own dilemma here, I guess 🤷. At this point, I think I should just wait until the final days, then buy one of the Syntronik synths for 50 units or so and get as many of the other synths as I can for free, then use all of them with the free Syntronik version. Mickey Mouse league, I know 😂
I had a similar thing happen with the full Miroslav being available due to a crossgrade. Lordy knows from what though as I bought T-Racks Deluxe as my original purchase. Didn't complain I just wish the same would make Sampletank Max available but it's not even on the list sadly. I wonder how good those extra samples are?
O.K so first an important info: I own nothing for desktop, like literally nothing, and I see this as a good way to get basically everything I need for making music on desktop. I got an Ableton course for free, and while I'm doing that making music on desktop seems a little more enticing.
So I start from zero, and there indeed, is a bunch of stuff that I could need. So I made a list of stuff that might be enticing for me, here it goes (in that order):
So my calculation was that I buy in the group sale if it reaches 6, that is pretty much guaranteed at that point. For that I get all the base sounds / instruments and effects that I might need as an amateur for making music. Past 6 is stuff that I consider a bonus, so I'm not concerned too much where it lands in the end.
The other calcualtion was here that a lot of IK stuff goes on sale for 99$ from time to time, so the question was:
So yea, there is me rationalizing why it's a good deal. It's up to you if you believe me, but I think for someone like me that starts from zero that provides me with a good base of stuff, no matter what DAW I end up with. (we will see about that on Black Friday, lol. I have some time to try everything out till then)
Thanks for the heads up!
Some quality sounds there.
I see your point, it makes perfect sense. Even if you're also rationalising - you're doing a good job . Thank you for the clear explanation.
This sale offer sounds interesting - but I do wonder which product would be the best to choose as the first, the paid one ...
Or in other words - what kind of product do I have to buy so that I get qualified to get the other 4 ... ?
Would T-rack5 SE be enough?
Or would even a single T-rack processor be valuable for getting qualified?
There is a list of eligible products on the website. All free products must be same price or less.
I will be going with a $200 crossgrade product like Sampletron. Then that sets me up for everything besides t tacks deluxe version I think.
I’ve heard some rumblings that tHe free products will not be eligible for future upgrades… trying to find some confirmation on that
I dug into this route and it definitely seems the way to go. It is a sliding scale: 99 credits gets $100 worth up to 750 credits gets $1500 worth.
MixBox is really the only thing IK has on this sale that interests me. I have it for iPad and it is VERY convenient. The size of projects I am working on and the hardware at my disposal right now makes using the iPad for processing tracks and sending them back to Ableton not much more inconvenient.
My question: Does MixBox by itself go on sale?
I poked around a bit on the interweb but everything seems to point to the current promotion.
I may end up going the @ervin “Mickey Mouse” route.
I think you can only resell the plugin you buy in on if you ever choose to do that. The rest are not for resale (understandably).

IK Group Buy is now buy 1 get 6 free https://www.ikmultimedia.com/25gb/
!
That was a slow one from 5-6!, I’m sure near the end it will have a big influx of buyers
I‘m keeping an eye on that, if it stays exactly as it is, we are landing at 10 free, but I would also expect a big influx in the last week.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people buy in a second time to pick up lots of $40 Sampletank libraries etc.
In general their customer service has been pretty good, but this has always seemed like such a horrible, cynical cash grab to me. As you say, it's not as if customers haven't been vocal about it, but they have had this policy as long as I can remember.
I can't imagine it generates so much income that it's worth continuing to disappoint customers with it, especially as it's almost unheard of in similar companies.
To be fair, this group buy is such a killer deal that I’m thinking only sweet nothings about the IK team right now 😘
Good cop, bad cop...
Quick question for those dabbling with the IK sale. Has anyone chose Amplitube as an upgrade as one of their freebies? It was the only option available to me, I assume because I had the free Amplitube version (my initial purchase more than covered the full Amplitube). After installing it seems that a number of the stomp boxes, racks and other goodies that are part of Amp 5 are locked. I've sent a support message through but thought I'd check here in case it's a quick easy fix. Fanx!
First thing to try is going in Custom Shop and doing "Restore My Purchases".
@Cambler Are you seeing the Amplitube Max devices that you don’t have access to with Amplitube 5? https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/include/at5/gear_list_pdf/AmpliTube_5_comparison.pdf
Thanks @drewfx1 and @gusgranite . I actually got a quick response from IK with the same suggestions (they've been great on support so far). Sadly the restore didn't work. I don't have Max as that wasn't an option for the promo deal, however when I look in Custom Shop there are stomps and other stuff that should be available that show as needing purchase, eg. Satch Distortion, Contour Wah etc and these are listed as included gear for Amplitube 5 (non Max).
@Cambler Have you tried unauthorizing AmpliTube in Product Manager and authorizing it again? If not, give that a shot and restore your purchases in Custom Shop.
Another suggestion is to download/install their Authorization Manager and enter your AmpliTube serial number in it. It's a small download and much less clunky than Product Manager. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/authorizationmanager
Thanks for this. I tried as you suggested but sadly I still have the same issue. Here's a weird thing. When I go to Custom Shop and search for and click on a stomp box that is listed as part of Amplitube 5, such as Satch Distortion, it says "Included in Amplitube Joe Satriani and Amplitube 5 Max". I'm starting to think that the list provided on the product page for Amplitube 5 is covering gear not included in the base Amp 5 purchase?
Ok I just counted the stomps and there are 46 available as i now see mentioned in the comparison list on the IK site. It's a bit misleading tbh as clicking on Amplitube 5 (versus Max) takes you to a page which lists all the gear. One assumes that is for the specific version clicked on, but instead it's for the full Max version. Also would have liked Max included in the promo as it's the same price (for me at least) as the initial product I purchased. Whinge over - I am still loving this deal!
Also apologies for wasting anyone's time with something that was partly user error
@Cambler All good. Glad you got it sorted.
Thanks so much. This is easily one of the nicest and most supportive forums I inhabit. Big love to all.
