Hi there ! So, if I am not mistaken, if atom can record all midi channels at once, MPE recording is possible ?
Not yet! While Atom can indeed record notes on all midi channels, MPE is not supported. But it's on my radar.
@blueveek One thing I thought of for multi-channel midi recording, it would be awesome if Atom created separate patterns for each channel that's coming in. Almost similar to multi-channel import.
Thank you. I will buy it to support the development of such a feature.
Bundle?
Are you asking "if", or "when"?
If? Yes.
When? Should be soon according to what has been written earlier.
@giku_beepstreet Would it be possible to have a loop circle (like how it does when playing audio files on Audio Channels) showing on the midi strip instances of Atom 2 looping? I think this would be really helpful!
Also would be nice to be able to lock the zoomed out view of the swipe up function view when move Channels left/right) so you it can work almost like a macro view.
Just a thought.
Thank you
after some time of use report that editing with pencil (1 gen + mini 5) also has bad response - deleting a note with a double tap or selected note with one tap. In first version it all works fine, with fingers 1 and 2 versions too.
@blueveek Possible feature request:
When I jam I like to create four bar loops.
It would be great to be able to trigger the next four bar loop with a foot pedal or pad controller.
Is this possible now?
Maybe set loop length in bars then trigger record a new loop when CC# is triggered. This way you can jam infinitely without touching the screen or overdubbing, e.g. create multiple chord progressions.
Please forgive me if the answer is obvious. I’m too close to the problem that I haven’t stepped back to see that the solution may already exist. 😆
Updated..
Happy Sunday..
🙌🏽
@blueveek Any news on iOS 13 Launchpad support? Apologies if it’s there already and I’ve missed it.
Woah! Nice update @blueveek!
Thank you so much for your continued hard work and dedication to this amazing project!
Yep.. very nice.. seems more Optimized’ .. less lag..
Thanks..
I see the solution now!
Can you add MIDI control to “Add Empty” pattern?
Sorry if this as been asked..... trying to get comfortable with Atom. @blueveek thanks for the update. Dont burn your self out!!
So with the new midi and it splits multiple midi’s into patterns. Can you assign a different midi out for each pattern? If not could there be a way to ask what midi you want to input like how LK does it?
Example. I come up with a nice progression in Groovebox with Drums, Bass, and melody. I zip that out and I want to work with those midi files in AUM. In LK it will ask me what I want to import into a clip, so I can have 3 different clips with all 3 unique midi and can send on different channels.
Thanks
Just curious
I think most of us have already purchased atom 2, which is my favourite app ( yada yada )
What controls the bundle, is it apple or just when the main man decides?
I just skipped lunch for 2 days, so purchasing, actually helped me to also get thinner, was a win win for me
Thank you! Seems like lots of people want MPE these days, I never would have guessed it's so much more popular than it used to be a few years ago.
No, per-pattern launch settings aren't part of this update. I'm thinking about how to incorporate them, it's slightly tricky with the current architecture but not impossible.
One way to achieve this is with the new "Clear pattern" and "Duplicate pattern" parameters that can be mapped to incoming MIDI. You can "Duplicate" to create and auto-advance to a new pattern that has the same time signature, number of bars and loop markers as your current one. You can then use "Clear" to clear the now current (and active) pattern and continue recording. The arm state is shared between all patterns.
You can map these parameters using AUM's parameters view. Under each atom instance, they show up in that list and you can pick which note or CC triggers them.
No, the hurdle is not having access to an iOS 13 device. But I'm still treating it as important to figure out.
No, MIDI output channels are per-clip, and you can configure which channels to output to from the MIDI channels menu on the left. MIDI input is also per-clip, you can pick which channel comes into Atom via the host's settings. The Patterns feature was designed as a way to try out different takes or variants of your clip, not as a substitute for having tracks.
Atom was designed so you can do this with 3 clips.
That's great to hear!
The bundle has been "waiting for review" for a while now.
One pattern plays from an Atom instance. What I do for a multitrack import is add a preset in AUM for that instance. Then create an instance for each track. For each instance , choose the Aum preset you created. Choose a different pattern of the imported midi in each instance and route to the synth the track should play.
It is pretty quick. Atom can't create additional instances of itself.
@espiegel123 ..... sorry you lost me a bit there. Are you saying that if I want to play many different midi I have to have individual instances of it? Also is there a delay or or setting for example if I have multiple patterns and switch to one it will wait till the pattern in front of it will finish instead of jumping right away to it?
Thanks!!!
An instance of Atom plays one pattern.
You need one instance of MIDI for each different track you want to play. You can't play multiple patterns at once from a single instance. Think of each instance as being a single cell in LK.
Atom is currently not really intended for realtime pattern switching in an instance ...which might change in the future.
I think you're just trying to use Atom in ways which it was not designed (but similarly to how most other AUs work). Everything you're asking for is available on a per-clip basis. Long press the Launch button to get access to a plethora of launching options. Just split your song into reasonably small clips, each in an Atom instance: everything gets massively more straightforward once you do that.
A MIDI clip in your favorite DAW on desktop doesn't have "multiple tracks" in it. It's just a clip. And that's what an Atom instance is. However, I do appreciate that, especially with some hosts, this particular way of working isn't for everyone, so I'm thinking about ways to make that more streamlined.
Bought this a few days ago and other than firing it up to make sure it worked I haven’t done anything with it yet. Being a GeoShredder it would be great if MPE was supported...
Reason for post though is just to say what a wonderful job @blueveek has done of the user interface. Very elegant, easy to understand and lovely animation of the icons etc. Good job.
Does chordbot allows to export single chords or progressions too?
Let’s you export progressions
Amazing work, @blueveek ! 🥇
@blueveek smart, efficient response sir! You “killed several birds (users) with one stone” 😂
Great idea with Duplicate and Clear, I will try it! Thank you
