I stopped using iOS for bass sounds live because I couldn’t get an interface that wouldn’t make noise when connected to a PA while being able to charge. I keep putting an irig hd2 in my cart at ik’s site and other places, but never seem to pull the trigger.

If you do ever find a use for it again, a battery bank solves that problem easily, completely, and with one fewer wire to trip over.

Even with that I got noise. I use in ears so any noise that happens really drives me crazy.

Sorry if I’m repeating stuff but a bit confused - I had tonestack motherlode and saw someone saying the pro app was £5 so that those who had bought motherlode etc before could get everythung cheap with the new one.

I just bought pro but it says you need to buy for 20 the iap pot of\r gold which I’m assuming is the motherlode equivalent.

Could someone tell me if I can transfer the all in motherlode thing or if it’s wanting me to pay another 20? If the letters the case I’ll just get a refund.

    Appreciate any help.

'fraid not, see this post. Yonac had hoped to do it, but was not possible with AppStore restrictions. The current price is meant to be a big discount. The big plus of the new app is that it's AUv3.

Incidentally, transferring custom presets from Tonestack 3 to Tonestack Pro is trivially easy.

Export a preset or a folder full of presets (to your hard drive or even email it to yourself), then open with Tonestack Pro. Easy. Took me 2 minutes.

I miss one thing in Tonestock / Tonestack PRO. It would be great if we could exchange our own settings between each other directly from the app (like in Jamup or Bias FX). Unfortunately from what Jessie answered it is not so easy to implement. There is probably no dedicated place on the web also, where Tonestack users could upload their settings in order to exchange with each other.

I suppose providing links here would do it.

  • There’s always Patchstorage. ToneStack doesn’t have a page yet. I think you have to write to them or something, and petition, not really sure. They also have an Other Platforms category, for anything that doesn’t have its own page.

Anyone know if IR loader is planned to implement in future updates? @Jessie?

Yeah, it's on our minds. Not ready yet so I can't say anything about when but... we're looking into it.

  • edited April 2021

@Jessie What in your opinion is the best solution to exchange our own presets between each other Tonestack / Tonestack PRO users? I can ask Patchstorage service to create tab for Tonestack, but I would like to consult with you first. Maybe you have other plans like a) add possibility to exchange presets directly inside the app (like in Jamup) in next updates b) your own service outside the Tonestack app c) dedicated tab on Yonac www d) etc. Thanks in advance for advice should I contact Patchstorage or you prefer another approach to the topic.

@Poppadocrock thanks for the Patchstorage suggestions.
@Neum thanks, this is also a solution. However if not a service by Yonac, then I think Patchstorage (as a dedicated place for presets exchange) will be more convenient than individual links on the forum.

Yeah, it's on our minds. Not ready yet so I can't say anything about when but... we're looking into it.

That would be pretty cool since there are thousands of free IR files out there which might nicely fill out a collection.

Be forewarned , while there are some good free IRs out there, a lot of them are terrible and many are pirated andvre-packaged. The difference between a great cabinet IR and a mediocre one is huge

I didn't find any free ones that matched the quality of the OwnHammer IRs. For reverbs/rooms, all of the iOS convolution apps seem to come with a selection of decent IRs though none really match the quality of really good paid IRs.

You will find links to some free IR collections in the wiki -- they are mostly IRs from rooms/reverb.

We're going to have to start a concise IR thread, because as I'm going through the IAA Tonestack, I'm finding lots of sounds that are pretty good, but the cabinets are pretty much across the board dull and uninspiring.

(However, the Ampeg B15 sim is pretty good with a Fender Precision.)

  • As a couple of people have already done an overview of ToneStack Pro I thought I’d focus on it from a bass players point of view as a first video on it. Bass players aren’t exactly overwhelmed with apps on iOS so... let’s see what Yonac have for us.

Well, sure, for what it does it's affordable, but it is still $30, plus you need an app to load the IRs, and people seem to like Impulsation, which people seem to like and is another $12.99. (Even Thafknar, which is barebones but does the job, has $7 of IAP.)

Worth it? The word seems to be resoundingly yes.

I wouldn’t call THAFKNAR barebones. It may be the most sophisticated IR app on iOS (particularly if one has true stereo IRs)...it just doesn’t have a fancy u.i.

The barebones UI terrifies me; I'll be honest. It's like when I use Console on a Macbook. I always feel like I'm going to accidentally start World War III.

No it's not rude. It's up to the receiver how they experience a comment. I have no control over that. Being an Aussie is an excuse. For example, a common greeting here is, "hey cunt, how are you?". Developers can handle it. Or not. Again, how you react to something is a choice.

Their IR’s are really good, as is their IR loader. I have 2 of the upright bass IR’s.

Kazrog has some cool cabinet IR’s as well.

Amplitube 5 has taken a big leap into IR’s as well I don’t think that’s made it to iOS yet but on Mac it is good.
