@sevenape : it’s a thought, but I did get Model D for free, and it has long been one of my favourite synths, and I don’t want to kick them in the teeth just to chisel another freebie. Wished I hadn’t done it, obviously, but I know Moog are one of the good guys in the instrument world, building in their home country, employing people at fair wages, and, you know, being legends of awesomeness when it comes to their gadgets. Plus a gift is a gift(card) whatever, so I’m personally only out £4, so: for the sake of karma - comme ci comme ça, I guess. I’ll just keep telling myself that... :)

  • Thank you Moog and thank you for the heads up 🙏

@Svetlovska just download all the excellent RunCell patches for Model 15, and you´ll instantly feel good about getting all that goodness for free! Check out the arpeggio bank.

  • OMG. Moog orgy. All these precious synths… I’m blown away. Thank you Moog!!!

Ha! Fair enough! 4 bones is a steal for model 15. It’s my favourite iOS synth. I bought it and all the expansions too, then downloaded all the patches on patch storage as well!

I've just been playing around with Model D again and man it sounds sooo good for bass sounds imo. However, (like everything it seems on iOS) it comes with a hitch and that is there seems to be latency in the sound coming from the Model D compared to other instruments when buffer sizes are high. Basically, on my iPad Pro I still need 1024 samples in AUM as a buffer size by the time I chuck in enough things for a session. However, the Model D sounds out of time at 1024 but fine at 256. Wondering if anyone else has this issue?

Adjust until it works for you. I have a feeling there might be no more updates for these apps.

the universal for macOS version of Model 15 has been getting updates recently and works beautifully within Logic. Scales perfectly too. It's baffling they'd be giving these away. Very odd.

That’s why I think they’re planning on introducing something new and completely different from these apps. Since they just made improvements recently dealing with problems introduced by the latest iOS update, this giveaway makes no sense unless they are basically done with the older apps.

@soundtemple : Yep. I’d held off forever hoping for a sale, but then got a £25 gift card for my birthday, so I thought, “well, they’re clearly never putting this on sale, and I’ve already got everything else they do, so it’s now or never...” Damn. But it is such a brilliant synth. Guess I’ll wait til the day before they make the IAPs free to buy them now... And practice some zen meditation about non attachment...

Could you take one for the team and buy all the IAPs now so they can also go on sale for free tomorrow? 😶

  • AUV3 coming? Please?

    @ervin :hah! Er...No! :)

  • Lol, all sorts of state saving craziness trying to use Model 15 and Animoog in Cubasis3. I think cause Animoog is interapp... anyway they all started switching places! I’ll sort it out eventually. Still great to have these two apps I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.

  • My first reaction when seeing this..

I guess that means we won't be seeing any further updates or new apps from Moog on iOS.

    Hope to be wrong.

  • Thanks Moog Music for Filtatron 🙏

Probably. My guess is that Robert had worked for this company some time ago 😅

    My second reaction was...

Have at it you bunch of man-vultures. If you call yourself iOS music fans I'm genuinely shocked you didn't buy all these apps 2+ years ago (or 5 in the case of Animoog and Fillatron).

    :p

  • Already owned them all but did get to upgrade my Animoog from phone app to ipad app

IAA apps don’t do state saving so Animoog is a no-go for that (except in Audiobus). Be sure you use the AUv3, not IAA versions, of Model D and Model 15.

Or maybe it's an old article, I'm not really sure?

Can one set the buffer in Model 15? It’s very CPU heavy... or am I wrong?
@wim. Thanks, did not know that. Been way too long since I used an interapp besides Lumbeats.

@wim. Thanks, did not know that.

There is a buffer setting in settings for the stand-alone app.
For the AUv3 it uses the buffer-size set in the host.

Also since it is a bit resource hungry only one instances have have the 'Knob UI' visible at one time.
The preset selector can be open on each instance though.

On my old iPad Air 2(iPadOS14.5.1) I can run two instances with 1024 without totally choking the CPU when using 4-voice polyphonic patches. Mono patches are easier on the CPU (2 instances with 512 buffer without problems).

Most of the time I just use one instances and freeze/record the audio.

It's one those apps that as it's own 'sound' and well worth having in the collection :)
(Now that I've learned a bit more how modulars work it's quite nice to patch around with).

  • Amazing news! Thanks a bunch for these precious gifts @MoogMusicInc and @Poppadocrock for the heads up :)

    Thanks for the news!
Testing animoog and I'm wondering if one can add timbres/presets without this iFunBox software? It's working but I was wondering if it's possible straight from the ipad rather than hooking it to a computer.

  • Thanks @Samu. Informative as ever 🙏

  • thanks for this info and thank to moog! this is really amazing :)

Yeah, I think everything is free for Bob Moog’s birthday. 🎉

Model 15 is available for free for desktop in the Apple Store. Apologies if this has already been mentioned.

    It's Christmassing!

[EDIT] Hmm now I'm not sure if this is a Mac version is iPad. Comes up in the store as a Mac app and validates in Logic but blanks out on my M1 Airbook when I pull up an instance?

  • edited May 2021

If I hadn't bought them all in the past I would personally get drunk with happiness :p

Big applause to the MOOG Team for generosity :)
