Just an update on the crackling on M1 iPads. It only seems to happen in standalone mode. Tried it as an AUV3 in NanoStudio and it didn’t seem to produce the crackles. Still it’d be nice to be able to use this in standalone, particularly for patch generation etc.
One of our sound designers did not submit his work yet, that's why we haven't reached 1000.
Rest assured, I will write the EXACT number of presets to make you happy. Are we good now?
Hi, which preset are you referring to? Maybe the cutoff parameter has other modulation sources (like LFO) assigned to it.
Good showcase of SM2 by Dean Paris.
FYI: this issue only happens with the new blue skin.
That's not supported yet.
Did you not sleep well? A bit of sarcastic reply.
You must be happy to get feedback, although some are negative. It's part of the game.
@onerez @Erwin Cycle thru presets with midi program change….

@kv331audio_bulent Is there any way to add a single preset or the current preset to a particular midi program bank? I could only seem to make new banks from a filtered selection. Filtering by keyword and adding to an existing bank didnt seem to do anything.
I'm adding this to our list of issues/feature requests, thanks!
@kv331audio_bulent great thanks!!
FYI : the blue skin has indeed a bug (when the arp is switched on, it disabled the layer sound), but there are other bugs with all the skins : if you change the arp mode from sequence to arpeggiate, and deactivate the arp, you have to pass through the step recording mode (red button of the arp switch), and this automatically switches to Sequence mode again. So if you want to reactivate the arp again, you will have to change the mode manually again.
Just want to say this is a fantastic sounding synth. Thanks @kv331audio_bulent for converting to iOS. As a preset source there's nothing better in iOS. Really surprised at some of the comments quibbling about 50 presets here or there - it's amazing to have a synth like this available for the cost of a coffee and a snack!
I'm interested to know how people go about building their own presets with this something like this though. Wouldn't know where to start with all those different wave sources (except for classic analogue sounds that is). Is the most effective approach just to take an existing preset that's something like what you're after and tweak it?
This is such a phenomenal synth, a joy to use!
I own numerous wavetable synths on desktop, but I’ve never spent enough time to really learn to make them shine, as mouse + KB is tedious and uninspiring to me; An issue I don’t have with the more immediate and hands on nature of tablet plugins like this. I could spend hours experimenting and tweaking and enjoy every minute, even if I don’t end up making music.
I’d love to dive deep into this and find some good intermediate to advanced sound design tutorials, with a focus on wavetable synthesis. Would much appreciate it if anyone has any resources to recommend.
Also if you know of good commercial or free wavetable packs that’d be compatible, it’d be cool to expand the tonal variety. I already loaded up all my factory Serum wavetables so far and they work great.
Is there a way to bulk import or manage lots of wavetables?
I know, right? IT was facepalm to see a couple negative reviews related to preset numbers — SM 2 already has more presets than any other synth I know of on iOS and is every bit as powerful as flagship desktop synths like Serum/Pigments, at a fraction of the cost.
There’s an import file and import folder option. Unfortunately audioshare is greyed out for me when I try to import folders, and since all my wavetables are there, I’ve had to import them one at a time so far. I could always copy them to the regular iOS file system and I’m sure it’d work.
+1
Same issue for me on my iPad M1.
There are tons of lines written here about the exact number of presets but not a single one about whether this problematic issue has been logged and will be addressed or not
Unfortunately this is something beyond our comprehension, seriously. On older iPad Pros with 44.1 sampling rate + analog headphones output this never occurs whether the OS version is 13.x or 14.x. But on newer M1s with 48k sampling rate + digital output it happens intermittently.
We asked some contacts at Apple to investigate this issue, because our code has worked without any issues since 2015.
@kv331audio_bulent Is there a way to create a 'custom wavetable' directly in the app using the included single cycle waves?
(When selecting the 'Wavetable' oscillator type in an Init preset it says 'Custom Wavetable' but there's no immediate and logical way to add existing or already imported cycles to it similar to what can be done in the additive oscillator).
I'm still exploring the app (it's crashed a few times) and my iPad (iPad Air 2, iPadOS14.6) has already sent away the crash-logs so nothing is left on the device as it's set to automatically share with the developers when things go south...
The crashes have mostly happened when doing drastic changes while a sound is playing (like changing presets or oscillator types) when I do those changes and no sound is playing it's stable.
So I've changed my behavior and 'panic' the app after playing before making any changes...
(This is nothing new and happens with SynthMaster Player and Synthmaster One as well so it could be an 'iOS Thing' as it's quite 'random').
Take Care & Thanks for bringing this gem to the iPad!

Paulo is it working fine for you as AUV3? @kv331audio_bulent thanks for looking into this and thanks for porting this incredible synth to iPad. Only just started to play with it today and I'm blown away. Kudos.
Wow, this is extremely good! I wish I was knowledgeable enough to be able to create something akin to the amazing presets here from scratch. Hopefully there's a dedicated tutorial series somewhere on YouTube - I'd love to know how to use everything in this synth!
Ok, thank you very much for acknowledging this issue. It likely will be solved one day during an iOS update.
What I noticed, when using the "official" Apple USB-C to audio jack connector, is the same kind of crackles when I watch Youtube videos. The crackles appear when switching to another video. The only solution is then to unplug/replug the connector. Not exactly the same thing but maybe it is related. So maybe an OS-related problem...
Yes, working fine as AUv3.
Standalone mode. No external keyboard attached. Stuck key.
What? I don’t even know how this is possible.
Sorry if this has been asked and answered: I just created my new user
bank named ED but it disappeared or I don’t know where to find it. I saved my newly made presets just fine but they ended up in the factory listing but no newly created bank. Is this a known bug? I am on an iPad Pro with latest software update, 12.9”. Anyone else have this issue? Congrats on one of the best synths EVER on IOS. What a fab Beastie! Cheers, ED
I find that using the info screen to assign the bank works but not entering a bank name when using Save As
Good tip. I guess it’s looking for Info to be filled out as the first step and then go to Save As, choose the bank you created under Info in the Bank field, name it and that’s that. Not what I expected based on what’s in the Save As menu but it works. Thanks @espiegel123 😎👍🏼
This happened to me the other day but I was in the patch browser window.
Again, no external keyboard or devices connected.
Guys, did you experience something similar?
My external sequencer (Keystep Pro) is connected to AUM triggering 3 AUM tracks by 3 different MIDI channel.
Track 1: TAL-UNO-LX: lead
Track 2: Synthmaster 2: chords
Track 3: Synthmaster 2: bass
Keystep pro plays the sequences, everything goes well, then suddenly both the SM2 instances get transposed up by a whole note, while the TAL-UNO-LX stays in key.
Analyzed it with a midi monitor whether my keystep starts sending the wrong notes or some unwanted midi event, but no, it sends the data it should.
And these 2 SM2 instances remain detuned until:
a) I restart AUM and load the same setup or
b) I move the pitch bend in any direction and let it return. (I have to do it in both midi channels that control SM2)
So my theory is that a 'virtual' pitch bend event (up by 2 half notes) is generated wheter in the communication between AUM and SM2 or SM2 generates this fake pitch bend event by itself. At least this is my suspicion since as I mentioned the midi monitor does not show any unwanted notes or events coming from my Keystep pro and so far I haven't experienced this behaviour with other synths in AUM.
UPDATE: here is the example, at 00:13 the chords get transposed
