You can by setting the progression type to “manual” 👍
Yeah in manual mode there is a separate chord for each eighth note above the tab that you can change.
Yeah, I'd like to make the controls midi controllable. I think it should be relatively easy but will take a bit of work because of the way the controls are set at the moment isn't compatible with midi control.
You’ve created something special here. Thanks.
Sweet update.. saved locks, etc..
Thanks..
@jon_bell Kudos for a job well done!👏👏
Love the new update, except for one small thing: the white background! My poor eyes can hardly read the text due to the glare (ugh!)
Would it be possible to provide a dark mode for those with sensitive eyes?
☝️1k+
That would be nice. My room is usually dark.
Btw. This app is phenomenal.
I got a dark mode working a few weeks ago but I got distracted with some urgent bugs! I'll make sure to include it in the next update.
The border GUI is still the same in dark mode but the main view is now black with light grey text.
Thanks.. yep, Hope Apple don’t snatch this one (like Alchemy).. Truly Special ..
@jon_bell
You da Man! Thanks! 👍👍👍
Using the AU of Riffler in GarageBand... how can I have the plugin kick in and turn off when I want it to? I want it to play during the chorus, but then shut off when it's not needed. It looks to me like I have to automate the volume on that track because I'm not seeing another way to turn on/off the sequence OR just render the audio as a WAV file, but then it can’t be edited beyond that... Thanks.
I'm planning on adding a song mode soon so you store a bunch of riffs then arrange them in any order you want. As you mentioned for now it's either automation and export.
Thanks. Looking forward to the song mode.![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Speaking of MIDI control, would it be possible to extend this to the chord progression (and maybe the upcoming song mode)? It would be great to be able to define a chord progression in e.g. Scaler 2 and have this drive Riffler, rather than manually input the chords. It would be cool to do this live, but just having an import function would be great.
I've really been enjoying Riffler, and would be more than happy to pay for this kind of feature as an IAP.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
It would be awesome to be able to control Riffler as an instrument with Scaler 2. Real game changier.
I'm very interested in trying to improve Riffler for live use and making it faster to use.
I've not had time to try Scaler 2 yet. How does Scaler send chords? Block chords via MIDI? Are you thinking that you would control Riffler the same way as an arpeggiator?
I agree, midi input would be great. Scaler 2 would be cool to use, shoot, I’d just like to be able to sequence some of these Riffler sounds with Atom 2 or Drambo’s sequencer. (or any sequencer really).
In the meantime, since we got the ability to delete notes in the last update, how about the ability to add notes?
I'm planning the on adding the option to change rests to notes so you will be able to add in new notes soon.
Another +1 for MIDI input. I don’t use the generative side of the app so being able to play the fabulous sounds using MIDI-in would be great as I have been looking for a ready-to-go metal guitar AU for sketching ideas for some time and this comes very close. I have Shreddage which I load into AudioLayer but that takes some setup and I would prefer a dedicated solution.
Ideally there would be some method of switching between sample styles, e.g. so I could play muted and unmuted using the same sequencer. Shreddage, for example, does this using key-switching where some very low range MIDI notes control which is the ‘active” sample set.
I rewriting the audio export code right now so that it is much cleaner. I was sharing the same audio loop for the audio output and the export audio and it has caused lots of problems!
Yup, got it! Several people have mentioned things being a bit small so I'm looking at ways to make the GUI more resizeable.
👍
I’m very excited to generate more riffs. Great app!
Can I limit. Endless mode to a number of bars? Say 4 or 8 for instance.
I think the ‘lock 1/2 Bar’ feature works well for this.. in any combination..
Nice..
Hi, I absolutely love Riffler and I need some help - does anyone else have this problem -
When you switch on endless mode, a stream of note on/off messages get sent at the end/beginning of each 'change' - this quick stream of notes (probably to ensure no hanging notes) reliably hangs my Softpop2 and hangs my Ocoast arp - could this be changed or can anyone think of a work around?
Really pleased to hear you’re enjoying the app!
What is Softpop2 or Ocoast? I’m not familiar with the names.
Currently when you create a new riff in endless or change preset, 128 note off messages are sent because I was having trouble with random notes getting stuck. I noticed this is also causing a CPU spike with certain synth apps which must be the same problem.
I’ll come up with a more elegant solution for the stuck notes and it should fix the problems.
You are excellent, I hope you know that!
Softpop2 and 0coast are hardware synths from Bastl and MakeNoise - which just love your riffs!
Ah, sorry about that. Pleased the MIDI is fixed though.
It's working fine on my devices but just tested on my wife's iPhone and I'm getting the same problem you are. I think it's because some devices are locked to 48kHz and I'm not doing the sample rate conversion correctly. Hopefully will get a fix online in the next 24 hours or so.
