Can you edit notes on the FretBoard manually (mutes, etc.)?
Won’t mind buying ‘Genre Specific‘ packs, simulation from great players of the past and present. That will be interesting.

  • @jon_bell I tried searching before this question, but couldn't find an answer. Do you have an URL for the manual? In-app in my home connection it shows "The resource could not be loaded because the App Transport Security policy requires the use of a secure connection."

    Thanks, mate

Here's the manual, I will be expanding it soon:
    https://riffler.app/help.html

The help button in the app is just a web browser that opens that link, I guess there must be some security settings that are blocking it.

There isn't the option of left hand mutes, only palm muting at the moment. I ran out of space to include any more samples with the base app but I'm definitely considering the option of add on packs with extra content.

    Thanks.. would be nice..

  • @jon_bell FYI in AUM if I go into settings and lock some parameters. Save session. And open it back up it does not have them locked.

Locked settings aren't saved as I didn't think it would be useful but lots of people have told me otherwise! It will be included as an option in an update next week.

    Thank you!!!!!

  • looking forward to giving riffler another try, another great tool like scaler2, piano motifs and Lyricism, which add options for music creation.

    the new GUI looks great.

these were the last 2 tracks I created with riffler as a starting point

    and

  • I finally cracked and bought Riffler yesterday afternoon.
What a great app! wWell done @jon_bell 🙏
Within 5 minutes of dice throwing it had inspired a new track posted elsewhere on the forum 😊

Thank you so much. I thought so that it was just a web browser. But maybe something on my ISP (Dynamic IPs? Not sure lol) is blocking it. That's why I asked for the URL

Curious BTW what other apps you find good for generating guitar solos 👍

    I would recommend ZOA.
On my post "Bach's Bad Hair Day" I posted a video describing the process and linked an AudioLayer instrument I created. Works best for rock/metal but might be useful for other genres.

There is a MIDI send option in NS2 but I can't get it to send the Riffler MIDI data. My guess is it will send MIDI data that comes from an external source like a keyboard but won't send MIDI data created by the track itself. I spent quite a lot of time trying to get it to work because I really like the synths in NS2 but the best I could do was to create a riff I liked, export the MIDI then import it back to the synth track.

    @FastGhost said:
@jon_bell Thanks, I was looking for it in the midi AUs in NS2, should probably have read the app description better.

You can send midi to NS2 via AudioBus.

Add Riffler as a Midi Input in AudioBus, Output to an NS2 channel. In NS2 on mixer page tap 'In Midi' and enable whichever channel you chose to send to and then decide whether you want to receive always or only when channel is selected. Its a pretty easy and quick set up once you have done it a few times. You could probably set up templates in AB and NS2 for it

Not yet, didn't include it as an option because I thought users might be exporting using a AUv3 host app instead.

But loads of people have contacted me about its absence so I'm going to adding it back. It should be available next week sometime.

I can post some routings and notes if someone wants

Also ahem Riffer sans the L

I agree. Aphelian is my favorite for arpeggios. Pure Acid can create some really interesting lines and Riffer by AudioModern are all good choices. If you point more than one of them at the same instrument you can get some pretty wild sounds, too. Steel Guitar Pro has some good guitar sounds if you don't have AudioLayer and I've also had some luck with Decent Sampler and STRNG.

excellent! thank you! my main workflow with riffler is standalone, export a bunch of different audio and midi into ableton and chop up!

Is it me or, did the update spoil the load presets, and other functions on the Auv3’s UI?

Edit.. seems to just freeze.. Air 4 iOS 15.7

  • @RajahP said:

Sorry about that. The update should fix problems with load and save buttons in the standalone but I made a mistake and now the load and save buttons won't work in the AUv3 plugin :s

I've uploaded a fix, it should be online tomorrow.

  • Haven’t been able to chime in as I just got back from vacation but man this app is just amazing. Had it for a long time now and the work put into it is just awesome. Thanks for all you do! Already creating some fantastic stuff.

  • This update is so awesome. Thank you. I'd definitely buy any add-ons you put as IAPs.

Also, quick question: will it be possible at some point to control Riffler via midi?

  • Cool app.

I see you can set the “progression” type but can the user plot out a specific chord progression?
