@DJB would it be possible to add options to copy settings from one part to another?
Something like a long press next to the VCO, VCF or VCA label would show an option to copy to Part 2 (or Part 1 if copied from Part 2).
VCA could also have options to copy to Env 1, 2 and 3. Maybe it would make sense to have the same for LFOs.
I really with this synth had an arpeggiator instead of a sequencer - maybe one arp per Part. The sequencer is the one feature I don't expect to use much, but hey, it doesn't detract from the powerful sound design capabilities.
Yeah, I enjoy playing chords for arpeggios more than playing one finger sequences. I like sequencers for modulation, though, like for filter cutoff or effects parameters.
This is partially why I've mentioned the modulator from TB DualVCF and tagged @DJB in hopes that that feature will find it's way into TB FLowTones some day as an additional option to the LFOs & Envelopes
The sequencer could quite easily be turned into a 'souped up' arpeggiator if each note could be assigned to a 'finger', this way the sequencer would control the rhythm and uses the held note(s) for pitches. (I love the arpeggiators in both IceGear and VirSyn apps).
To turn the sequencer in to 'chord memory' it would be nice to disable the 'transport' and give the sequencer an option to optionally advance to the next step on note-off. This way you could for example set up a chord-sequence and trigger the chords manually in sequence.
And yeah, a sequencer/arp per part could be nice for semi-automatic arrangements.
(Some classic keyboards like the Yamaha AN1X and Roland JP-8000 effectively used individual parts for these kind of things).
We'll see where things go, TB is known for attention to details so...
Cheers!
Cheers Samu. Those are really great ideas. I hope they'll be considered.
I’m struggling with the resources needed to run Flowtones. I guess the newest synths require the newest iPads…
I keep it monophonic
Ditto, it can really push my iPad Air 2 to crackly-town especially when polyphony is rising (8+ with 'everything' on) even in 'eco' mode...
That’s a very good tip. I’m back in business 👍
That’s just good advice in general.
It can be quite CPU hungry with patches which use multiple VCOs ...
As far I I can tell, no one has mentioned that the 1.0.9 update now allows us to Import/Export preset banks!!
Let the Flowtones Soundfest commence!
That's great news! I've got a bank ready to go, I'll get it out ASAP.
Awesome! Can’t wait.
Well, seems to work fine, just need to select the preset and tap library and give the user bank a name

(Only one patch to test the functionality, feel free to jam your clip-tune memories with it hehe).
Should be quite easy to collate a community bank by just selecting the preset, change the library and once all patches are in share it...
Cheers!
Here’s some of mine. I don’t claim to be a sound designer, so please forgive the levels on some of these. https://dropbox.com/s/td57ntqpx95plgr/mwallace.zip?dl=0
For those who don't have, or don't want to set up any type of file hosting.
Patchstorage has a category called "Other Platforms".

Great to see patch sharing happening!
A couple of "good to knows":
Great news, Richard. Thank you for your service. Things are going according to plan; eyes are on @Spidericemidas now, so I can finally go and buy this thing complete with both essential preset banks. 👍
Great! I’ve been waiting for the bank sharing facility. Now can purchase this synth very soon, especially if there’s already a @richardyot bank for it and the suggestion of plans for an ABF soundfest. That would be sweet! 😃👍
My preset pack can be found here:

@DJB Thanks very much for the addition of preset bank import and export! I do have one more request if possible: could you allow for users to create custom bank names in the preset list? This would really help to organise them. If these could also be preserved on import and export that would be even better.
Thanks for those!
Custom bank\library names would be very useful to help keep things separated. As it is, the only way to preview all of @richardyot 's patches is via the quirk that e.g. "Bass" and "bass" are considered separate categories.
That can be sorted out if they patches are put into separate library before sharing.
(When saving a preset, just select which library to put it in and when sharing select which library to share).
This way we avoid getting all imported patches in one 'User' library and can keep things separated.
I've created a 'samu' library and when I save a preset I just choose that library.
Moving presets between banks is quite easy but it can eventually mess things up if one wants to keep the same preset in multiple banks. In those cases the preset needs to be saved one more time to create a copy.
@DJB Some sounds can fall into multiple categories (Like Bass & Lead) and this 'thing' could be sorted out with 'tags' and the browser would then use these 'tags' when browsing thru the presets.
This 'tag cloud' could also be handy if one is interested in a sub-set of presets (Bass, Lead & Pad as one example).
There is one iOS synth that has a very good tagging system and that's the classic MitoSynth.
You can without fear modify any preset and 'revert' the changes and even jump between multiple presets without fear of loosing the original presets, honestly one of the most flexible systems I've ever bumped into.
(DRC has partially implemented the same behavior).
Cheers!
Good to know, I'll see if I can revise my patches this weekend. I did look for this but obviously missed it. Thanks.
It's not 100% obvious, by default all presets are saved in the User library so one needs to select the preset and then tap the Library button and type the Library name. (if there is none, a new one will be created with the name you give it).
Personally I think it could use a bit more polish but I don't want to over complicate things.
There's also Matt's elegant and simple folder system solution in Nanostudio, which makes it a breeze to manage preset sharing
Having to retype the Category\Library name, rather than selecting from a dropdown list of some kind, is clunky.
Even more so is the lack of Clipboard support, so the name has to be retyped each time.
@DJB could clipboard support be added please for editing patch details in the Browser?
Agree. Also think it would be super helpful if you could select from a list of your Library names when saving to a bank instead of having to retype it every time. Same would be welcomed for Categories.
@DJB In adding patches to a Library, I somehow ended up with a patch having a blank library name. Now I can no longer load or delete the patch.
I was able to update First Contact patch to RY library (it had been blank) but now it won’t load or delete.
UPDATE: Seems to have been fixed by a force quit and reload.
Thanks @richardyot looking forward to trying them out
