  • Is it possible
Can’t seem to get gadget to start stop in loopy pro
Have link enabled in both apps, but just don’t seem to play ball
Is it me, I hope so
    Any help would be appreciated

Are you able to get link start/stop working between gadget and another app?

    Between Loopy and another app?

    Have you rebooted?

  • Just tried AUM and gadget
    No joy there either
    Gonna try audiobus and gadget

I just checked : Gadget doesn’t have Link start/stop. You need to start it manually. Or use midi clock instead.

  • Ok
    Got it working
    Gadget as input in audiobus
    AUM as audiobus output
Then load AUM port 1 in loopy pro
Then can now start and stop via loopy pro

  • Yet again
    Thanks @espiegel123

    Thanks @espiegel123

You don’t need all that. You can use just gadget and loopy pro. Set Gadget’s sync to external and set gadget as a midi clock destination in Loop apron’s sync panel.

  • @espiegel123
Now that’s a much better set up
    Super cool
    Thanks again

I have multiple projects, each of which is a song for live performance. I want to establish my mix during performance, and then have it "stick" for remain global for each color/fader/channel strip. I have not found a way to make the mix levels global so they are constant between songs. Is there a way to do this? In other words, if I adjust my mix for Project_1 when I'm playing, I want that mix to apply when I open Project_2.

I don’t think that is currently possible but maybe I am overlooking some cool trick. @michael?

Yeah there’s not a way to do that yet; levels are saved per project. Perhaps I could add an option for the “Load Project” action to copy over levels from the current one…

  • Is there a way to midi map the toggles for the mixer and the sequencer view?

If copying over levels would copy the current levels (not the ones saved with the project), that would work I think. That would be a workable path. I was thinking along the lines of a global level setting that could be shared by all Projects. Perhaps like a global widget. So, a global channel strip level could be "called" when a Project was loaded. In this way, a mixer would retain its settings between Projects. Either way, support for this feature would be very useful when a performer is calling up songs/projects from a set list at a gig, and doesn't want to worry about resetting levels every time. In my case, I am careful to balance all color/instrument audio clips in projects (so all bass/yellow levels match in loudness, for example). However, at a gig, mix levels always need to be tweaked to match the room/venue. That's why this would be such a useful feature. Thx for considering. [ps Michael, I sent you an e-mail regarding this, so you can ignore it as I now know to stop testing things!]

    No

Too bad. Well, maybe in a future update. 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • Looking for a workaround for only last button gets highlighted.

From a group of buttons when one pressed it gets highlighted but the other gets the highlights off.
So one highlighted at a time.
    Similar to Drambo “scene. Selection.

I asked on Discord and suggested on roadmap.

@Michael maybe this could fit nicely into an ‘import’ feature, a bit like AUM. You could load a project into another project and tick which midi and au strips you want to come over, what from each colour strip (levels, effects etc.) or something like that?

Does anyone know if it is possible to set up a blank loop on the sequencer timeline, and have it punch in/out to record while the timeline is playing?

From memory, yes. Create an empty loop where you want it. Tap the ARM button on the track.

Definitely worth adding to roadmap.loopypro.com. I don’t believe this particular scenario calls for that, but it’s a decent idea on its own.

  • I have an audio clip I want to import, but I want to split it into smaller loops, roughly 4-8 measures each. I'm not particular about exactly where the splits happen. Does LP have something to help me with this? If I have to do it manually, any pointers on where to start? Thanks!

Within loopy, the easiest way might be to import the audio and resample into smaller clips and then you could delete the long original clip. To resample, you set the destination of one color to another color. As you play back, record into new loops. To simplify things use auto count out and set the master clock length to the desired loop length.

If you have Auditor or Reslice or Neon, those have quick ways of slicing files and exporting.

  • Thank you, @espiegel123

Which of the 3 you mentioned would you recommend today? I saw a 2020 post you did showing the arp in Reslice, clearly any number of tempting distractions await me

They are all worthwhile in their own right. ReSlice is a lot of fun. I use Auditor a lot for audio editing. It has layers and so it is useful for compositing and its timeline can use any units you like (samples, time, bar/beat). Neon has a lot of capabilities and is an AU...so it can be pretty convenient to use in a host...and has a bunch of cool features...I find its u.i. less obvious than I'd prefer.

  • Is there a way to import a MIDI file into LP, then route it to a AUV3 synth to play?

No. But you can load any AUv3 or IAA app that imports and plays MIDI into Loopy Pro to do that.

  • Can loopy sort of work like Koala. Each donut be triggered via the different keyboard note range. So audio would be static until triggered. Press a donut to record. Press donut to stop record?
