More tests needed.
Think its just the buffer ( 128 )
and having more than a few modeled instruments and mapped to same sustain command.
There I were thinking 3 ipad 9s were future proof. Perhaps so for a while ( 256 good enough but not the Ferrari of Wurlizers )
Buying a 88 key piano and delving in low buffer and quality instruments costs additional 1000s.
Even if I bought a better ipad to work with another 2 ipad 9s.
Still need to optimise.
My question.
Seems sustain makes apps clip cpu wise and then mapped from same pedal across different tracks.
When Drambo is set to midi per track.
Can cc be made to not be activated the same way as note midi.
If you dont have track selected. Then cc wont be activated ?
If it is buffer.
Maybe best just getting use of 3rd ipad 9.
See what I can do with 128 and 256 buffer.
I bet Id save for an ipad air just for instruments.
Then Drambo comes out with a multicore mode ( maybe not )
@sigma79
From the video you posted it looks and sounds like you're using SWAM Trombone not Bleass voices.
The notes sound like how they would when playing a mono virtual instrument with legato switched on.
Unless specified SWAM instruments arent polyphonic.
I didnt hear anything that sounded like Bleass.
Try sending only single notes not chords and see how you fare.
If you need to create chords using a mono virtual instrument
then you will need to create more instances of that virtual instrument.
Cheers Grav.
Dont worry about Bleass.
Made a vid.
Aum can be 32 buffer without glitches from a sustain pedal
Drambo glitches on 128 but also 256.
So I cant really use Drambo until issue is resolved.
The glitching is from a sustain, which might be making cpu of drambo overload.
Is it really that worse for buffer than aum
Or not the cause ?
Bleass voices has the same glitch sound though.
It cant be used like in aum.
When you try to sequence the harmonics and write to drambo sequencer.
It glitches like this when played back.
Also noticed Drambo runs out of stereo outputs for bleass voices ( after 8th track )
Just mentioning because its the same scratchy sound
but this issue is because a sustain pedal is mapped to different track ccs.
@sigma79, since you mention the problem is on playback, I'm guessing it's quantization in the recording, not a problem with buffers (unless it happens when playing live too). have you tried turning on some smoothing in the recorded automation?
Its not any recording ( I keep mentioning bleass just because its same scratchy glitch )
Its just pressing sustain pedal whilst playing.
Sustain is from blueboard. Cc12 midi ch 1.
Mapped across a number of au.
So when I select a track. I got sustain.
It dosent glitch in aum even at 32 buffer and same amount of apps.
It glitches in Drambo at 256 but probably more at 128.
Is Drambo and Aum buffer that different ?
Or is it something to do with midi/routing because its the same noise as bleass ( il make a bleass vid )
Here is the bleass vid.
At 32.
It a)
runs out of stereo tracks after 8.
So probably not implemented in Drambo/ The sequencer to fx au ( but does work in aum however )
It cause glitches similar to my issue with sustain.
Its either Drambo cant be used on low buffer ( any reasonable amount of au )
Or a different issue.
Which is using midi ( the sustain pedal )
and the glitching at 1.10
Basically.
Drambo sequencer cant trigger bleass harmonics without weird static noise but can in aum when using drambo sequencer.
Drambo has the same static noise when using a sustain on a few instruments.
Is buffer audio clipping the same noise as in vids?
Is it just Drambo buffer not be able to handle what aum can at 32 ( Drambo at 128 and maybe 256 )
Is the bleass vid a midi issue or audio issue.
So is the sustain a midi issue or audio issue
?
Forgot to say.
It wont glitch when using a knob controller mapped to cc 12. Midi ch 1.
So it isnt a buffer settibg.
Both cases are to do with midi issue and causing audio issues.
@sigma79
the issue isn't dRambo.
It's when you try to run Bleass Voices at lower Buffer settings than 1024.
I reported the issue via Facebook awhile back but haven't reported it via their email as yet.
I also tried Bleass Voices in both AUM and dRambo and it resulted in the same thing,
glitches in the audio.
This would have been on 1024.
The sequencer in drambo causes the glitches.
But Drambo pointed at bleass in aum, dosent glitch from the sequencer.
You can also see from vid Drambo used to be 8 tracks and thats still maybe the case, with au fx multi source. Bleass after track 8 isnt stereo.
But not that bothered by bleass ( although would be cool in Drambo )
Its not being able to use midi sustain on instruments without it causing the same glitch noise.
This dosent happen if mapped from an ec4.
It dosent happen in aum even at 32 buffer.
I cant use Drambo as a host. If it cant host a few apps, without glitching. Pianos etc at low buffer.
I need to use drambo because im using 3 ipads so need pattern structure.
I could probably use Drambo in aum for this ipad but aum workflow is annoying ( if theres a Drambo in the foreground )
Should I message giku etc ?
I would advise so along with the dRambo file and the videos that you have made.
Thanks Gravitas.
Do love Drambo.
Will need for drum ipad ( seems fine at 1024 buffer ) not really bothered about live triggers.
Will do for a synth ipad, id say. 256 or 512 buffer or whatever
But check this.
It does seem to be a buffer thing but im sure it isnt all buffer issue.
You telling me. It looks like aum can have unlimited idle swams and I get keys at 32 buffer?
vs Drambo.
Glitching with a few apps at 128 buffer and maybe even an occasional 256 buffer.
Seems like i need to use aum but there will be issues for the sake of decent buffer ( or whatever issue is )
At least id be able to hear all my sounds.
So the question is.
Does it seem normal in regards to aum at 32 buffer and loads of swams also mapped to sustain
Drambo with a few apps and glitching at 128 buffer?
How do I send cc to aum parameters for automation?
Wish we could resolve the buffer issue.
Or find out if its a buffer issue.
Back to trying to gain automation in aum.
Which I were doing years ago.
I acheieve nothing by insisting on gaining everything
But obviously the buffer issue in vids posted is important.
Iv now had another conclusion.
Make an orchestra across 3 ipads
Plenty cpu
but obviously not with the buffer issue
and creating loads of cc might be hassle.
Hello everyone! Is there a way to set note comp (ie chance, retriggers, random conditions and so) for notes separately if they’re polyphonic and play simultaneously in the piano roll?
Sorry if the question isn’t clearly phrased.
If I’m understanding correctly, you can do this by choosing the step on the sequencer and press COMP along the top right:
(Above example is just a screenshot to show what screen to get to)
Each note can have its own conditionals and you can add them by hitting the + to the right OR swiping right on the note. Chance, for example works from left to right, but retrig will effect notes to the left.
I've done exactly that here and I can control AUM faders and knobs from inside Drambo.
The only difference was that I used the "MIDI CTRL" menu in AUM to map the CCs received from Drambo by hitting "Learn" in AUM.
Thank you for your answer. I know how to do what you explained above. I meant how to set these conditions individually for notes when more than one note is played at the same time (ie chords) Since the Component window applies to the step sequencer steps instead of piano roll notes.
You have to do it step by step from the components screen. If a step has a chord, then each of the notes will show as a component. You have to insert a conditional component before each note individually.
Cheers rs.
Will rememeber.
( If I do need to use Aum )
Can I bluetooth an ipad to an ipad or not ( for midi ) because Drambo might need to advertise?
You can, but you'll need another app (like AUM) for that.
In the Bluetooth Peripheral dialog, choose "Advertise MIDI Service" to make that iDevice visible as a Bluetooth MIDI device you can connect to from the other iPad.
Got it 👍 cheers @wim
Thanks.
Should be ok sending from aum to Drambo, then.
Its for midi generators and ipad in question is just a swam instruments extension ipad.
So not as needed as a screen.
At the mo, Iv got it sending from ipad to ipad via usb of audio4c.
Works well.
You can adjust sequencer and synth better but have to save, across devices.
Yes, gotta remind myself to save everywhere, like when using hardware gear 😉
