Hey everyone,
I have a steady stream of 16th coming out of Textquencer, that I’d like to swing on the fly. My idea was to separately delay the gate, velocity and pitch data for every second 16th. When I change the delay time it changes the pitches. Why is that and can I do something about it?
Here’s another try, with an Lfo clocked by a sequencer to modulate the delay. This one actually swings, but also changes pitch:
Why delay the audio? Why not delay the midi?
That's what I did, or do you mean the other way around? Delaying the audio might cut tails depending on the sound.
@wim Ah, the midi delay module… thanks, works nicely!
Theres a number of reasons I cant just use this drag and drop from flexi to koala.
A fix would be how au windows launch ( as to not cover flexi sampler )
Spilt screen isnt an option because of having to resize the au windows, when going back to full screen.
Leaving Drambo isnt an option because of resizing au windows.
Some of the au windows are out of screen permiter. Hence why needs resizing.
So need to save via flexi to Drambo or files app. Then access via Koala, without leaving Drambo.
The pic isnt the problem btw. You can drag and drop but cant for the reasons described.
So although drag and drop in pic would be amaze.
With au windows covering flexi.
I can freshold record.
Use red button to close au windows.
From there it seems I save to a Drambo folder.
What do I do to access the Drambo samples in Koala, without leaving Drambo or using split screen?
Theres an import audio option that links Drambo folder.
This could work.
Yes, you can add any Drambo samples folder in Koala AUv3 and directly add samples from within Koala.
BTW, have you tried reducing the Koala window width?
It will shrink its UI and show all pads so you can drag and drop from Flexi.
Yeah.
Its just where flexi is hidden by apps.
When launching koala.
It will launch the other apps and hide flexi.
The apps also go out of screen zone so closing apps isnt an option.
Saving in Drambo and accessing the Drambo folder in koala is a good option.
Thanks.
What do you mean by "other apps"?
I can drag and drop to the Koala window here:
Thats ideal.
Other apps cover flexi though.
Woodtroller etc.
Maybe an upgraded version of the app launch feature.
Is an icon on the au windows ( like with MAP )
Then allocate what gets launched from the red button.
So you can still launch an au window.
Without launching all windows allocated to the red button.
Or just un-allocate an au ( from the au ) Near MAP.
Just an idea: If the top right red square button had a function to choose which AUv3 window to open (e.g. a tap-hold would show a list to choose an AUv3 from), would that work?
Or do you have other ideas in mind?
I think instead of even a button near map.
Or your idea.
In the au menu ( where theres green sliders ) to enable or for compact view.
Just have an option for bind/unbind au window, with a green slider. Probably best if sliders are on as factory setting and then just unbind with the green switch.
Its only really been hassle with flexi to koala but voids drag and drop, in my case.
Ideal.
You can setup your screen.
Close screen layout.
Still have the option to solve problems.
Like drag and drop to koala etc.
by just unbinding from screen layout, with the green switch.
If you wondering what the loopy slider is.
Its for vibrato depth for violins.
Not rate.
You can sort of hear if its on or off
but the slider is a visual
If anyone gets problems mapping loopy in Drambo.
I mapped this but whenever I mapped the same cc elsewhere.
Midi wouldnt then go to loopy ( not showing midi with a midi spy module )
I had to turn of loopys midi feedback to controllers.
Which is cool/weird getting led feedback to even a blueboard.
Did you mention to Giku a potential solution ?
Unless its already sorted another way.
Seems cool enough to just have a screen of au launch from red button ( like it is now )
and able to un-bind any au with a green slider. Just for potential issues of an au covered screen.
@sigma79
Managing AUv3 windows has many aspects, it wouldn't make sense to rush a quick solution for one problem without looking at more use cases.
Since there are many new features in the queue with higher priority, more advanced window management might take a while to happen.
Ok.
Inderstand the priority but the idea is there.
Cheers.
Is there a way to play either Pattern/Sample A or Pattern/Sample B in a sequence and have them play randomly using probability?
Example: I want to play a drum loop and have variations.
So on bar 4 Fill A will play.
And on a different cycle Fill B would play in the 4th bar.
Is it possible to set the either/or logic up in Drambo - and also set to probability. So it varies when it plays A or B.
Ideally I’d like these on the same track.
I can use with Koala Sampler (sample or sequence in koala) or Flexi-Sample (but don’t know how to have 2 Flexi’s on the same track and link their probability/randomness)
Is this possible, and if so, how would I set this up?
@dmori - Here's how I'd do it using Flexi:
Thanks @wim I'll try this out.
I've just got this working. Thank you @wim
My next question is: How do I play Drum Pattern C which is 4 bars and have the fills randomly play on 4th bar - choking Pattern C.
Currently with my attempts it's triggering both Pattern C and Fill A/B at the same time.
Is there a way to have a fixed note to trigger Pattern C - that doesn't also trigger the Fills A/B all in one track?
Currently everything is being triggered by C2. And if I change this note, everything is pitched.
I'm not sure without spending some time experimenting, but it's going to involve note filter modules. We're getting in over my head. Hopefully some genius like @rs2000 will step in at this point.
I was also trying to get my brain around how to do this with Koala rather than Flexi. I ran out of time before coming up with a solution.
You can do drum fills like this:

Wow, thank you @wim
@dmori
Basically, there's not much to add to @wim's suggestion except that you need to limit random triggers of the fill to the 4th bar only, like this:
The modulation knob in Bernoulli Gate is set to 0.5 in my example to achieve a 50% probability of getting the fill triggered with the 4th bar. 1.0 would be "fill every time" and 0.0 would be "never fill".
The sequencer has one bar length with one C2 note that is as long as the bar.
