  • Wow!! Great looking list!! Hopefully we get iOS drag n drop support soon

  • Hello! I've been using Zenbeats 3 for a few months now on the iPad. Today, I have downloaded the macOS version of 3.1.3. When I start it up, the link to sign up is disabled. I'm a signed up ZC user but I don't seem to be able to convey that to Zenbeats on macOS. What am I doing wrong? @MatthewAtZenbeats, any ideas? Thx!

    Thanks @DMfan 💪🏽.

I only have my iPhone with Z3 with me at the moment but I see “my content” tab with import/export/transfer options!👀😱

Unfortunately, I don’t have any user content in the phone version so I have no idea how exactly it works but I can’t get to my Mac/iPad fast enough.

If this means I can export/import full folders/subfolders of sample packs and transfer entire user patch banks to hardware/software/SD I’m gonna be a very happy man.

    Hi Guys,

Sorry for the delay in getting the official change log posted. The My Content feature is a data backup and transfer tool with lots of flexibility! It makes backing up and sharing your own content super easy. You can pick and choose what folders you want to include on export and import. So if you've made a bunch custom drum kits in ZR1 or have SVZ files, custom audio samples, etc one one device, you can transfer them to another or back them up wherever you want. I'll be making a video to show it off soon!

Hmm. My guess is there's some server calls running in the background. let it sit for a bit and it should pop up.

  • Very nice looking update @MatthewAtZenbeats Thank you 🙏

Super excited about this as it was at the top of my feature request list. Looking forward to your vid. Regarding SVZ files…am i understanding that any kits i make in ZR1 can be exported into those tiny little SD card space saving SVZ kits?!🤯

Not quite. We don't do any format conversions, so ZR1 won't save into SVZ file format. ZC1 exports those SVZ files and they are stored in the Zenbeat User directory. Basically, anything stored in Zenbeats User, can be packaged up into a zip for backup or sharing purposes.

Hi guys. I posted this on the Zenbeats forum on Roland but it seems quiet there . I tried to go through this thread as much as I can so apologies if I mentioned things that already have been talked about.

First of all the app itself is exciting and has a lot of potential. Might just be my new DAW of choice soon . Having a DAW that has audio tracks and freezable tracks is amazing!

I’ve noticed that third party plugins are virtually unusable , especially on the iPad. The UIs are very all over the place . Some plugins make the app itself turn completely black and you can’t navigate anything.

    Am I missing a CPU/DSP meter ?

The option to zoom on the timeline, on audio editing in the samplers and in patterns with two fingers would be great

The timeline above the audio / midi channels is quite chunky , would be cool to be able to resize it

Is there an option to paste entire sample packs into a user folder ?

If I’m looking at a sample in Files I can’t seem to find an option to open the audio via zen beats

It would be great if you could preview/audition audio before selecting to import, similar to koala sampler

Loading a sample eg a kick from from the Roland sample library into sampleverse doesn’t seem possible

A start and end point for audio for sampleverse would be great

I’ve noticed the start end points in ZR1 seem to jump at times unpredictably

Mono voice option in sampleverse would be great

I can’t seem to group tracks into a buss correctly

Undo on certain things like fade on an audio clip doesn’t seem to work

I agree with some of your suggestions, especially zoom on the timeline, I also feel the UI could be polished up a bit @MatthewAtZenbeats

    👍

Share your polishing thoughts more in detail so the dev can pinpoint better and take action if deemed needed/requested!

They are all ears for improvement!

    Great update!

I think one improvement could be to include some shortcut actions to the midi clip inspector on the left side. For instance copy and paste would help a lot when copying multiple clips and wanting to paste them somewhere on the timeline. The shortcut actions could be underneath the actions which are there already. Seems like it should be space there.

Would not a new topic for each update be much more useful?
    😉

    Maybe.🤷‍♂️

But personally I find it easier to read one thread than many. I like being able to scroll back through pages. Major changes deserves a new thread IMO, like the future move to 3.2 one day, not bug fixes and patches. But, to each their own.

I’m with @DMfan. I’m interested in all posts about ZB and it seems easier to follow one long thread rather than several.

Can’t reproduce. iPad Air 4 iPadOS 16.3.1, ZB 3.1.4, Koala 1.4071. You mean you can’t see anything but Koala? Below is my screen.

What other AUv3s are you having issues with?

  • Unfortunately still no drag’n’drop for iOS, can’t use my own samples without copy. Still not possible to use midiLFOs inside zb.

  • @MatthewAtZenbeats and team, thanks for another meaty update. All my Nembrini, Imaginando, and Eventide apps look and function perfectly.

Thanks for trouble shooting ! Appreciate it . Pretty much all auv3s. From my memory model d drambo and koala . Funny thing is when I screen shot it it shows the same as you but it’s not like that it’s actually like this

    I am using an 8th gen iPad on ios14.5.1 maybe that’s it ? .

I’d say most likely it is due the fact that you are using an older version of iOS . I know the developer urges people to use the latest/later version(s), and I believe this is because the effort is put on making an app that is up to date with the current OS, not backwards compatible to any greater extent. But, that is just my guess… I know they have a heck of a job trying to get all different AUv3s to work properly and they do a great job at it. They do test older ZB projects backwards to check they work on newer ZB versions but third party AUv3 compatibility I have come to understand is a thing of its own😁. As @Schmotown wrote, they just succeded with a bunch after a long battle….

Is there a particular reason you’re still on iOS 14 may I ask?

    /DMfan🇸🇪

Why is the performance of Zenbeats so weak? I can't even load 8-9 model d instances. In Cubasis I can easily load more than 23 model d instances with an average buffer. iPad Pro m2. Zenbeats doesn't work in multicore mode?

Aha. I had a feeling it was this. Yes I agree they've done a great job so far there's a lot of potential for this app. In terms of being on an older iOS I think I always try stay out of date on purpose with older models of devices. It's the 8th gen ipad so I get nervous updating will mess with my CPU and my mobile gaming and battery. But maybe it's time though

    @MatthewAtZenbeats
Double tapping midi or audio loops in LoopBuilder isn’t opening the editor anymore ? I’m sure it used to ,
didn’t it ? single taps & long presses are recognised but I can’t seem to open an editor .
Has this changed , is there a button somewhere ? & while I’m here could I request that “Open editor “ is added as
a menu item to long pressing a loop anyway as it would make sense to always have access from there additionally.

I never use Arrangement View , but it seems there is a different method there , with buttons under the clip , the leftmost seeming to open editor .

edit ipad air 4 15.6.1 btw

Correct, ZB iOS does not do multicore audio processing. Very few iOS DAWs do, I’m afraid.

  • With the update, there was a delay problem when pressing the drum samples buttons. Moreover, it is strange that the upper row perceives normally and the lower ones with a delay. Touch disabled, buffer and memory are fine.

Works fine here with both MIDI and audio loops, but I have to tap in the upper part of the boxes specifically.

Delay in the drum sound list when playing sounds confirmed. EDIT: seems to work normally after further checking. Are you referring to the drum pads in ZR1 when you write ”row”? If so, I can’t reproduce.

The drum pad is in the second (lower) row. For example, a barrel sounds without a delay, and ride the bottom line into it with a delay. It looks and sounds a little strange, but it is.

I forgot to add-this is on the Iphone.

Very funny. If you first open an empty project with ZC1, then when creating a ZR1 track, the drum pads sound without delay.

  • I saw this had in update recently, so I figured I’d start it up, and maybe see if I could get something going.

I think I just can’t get over the feeling that I’m missing a lot of what this whole Zenbeats thing includes.

There’s always this feeling that I need to “buy more stuff” which I absolutely do NOT like!

We don’t have this in AUM, we don’t have it in Drambo, and we don’t have it in Loopy Pro. Even in Cubasis there’s a set number of add-ons you can buy, but once you do, you’re done.

I mean, I bought the app to begin with, then I bought the “iOS unlock”, then the “iOS unlock version 2” then the “VIP thing” , then another VIP thing, oh and now I see there’s a new “IOS Unlock V3” which offers “massive savings” then I realize there’s the whole membership thing that I haven’t got any access to yet, because there’s “Core, Pro, or Ultimate” choices, but then I’m not really purchasing anything, but merely “subscribing” then there’s the whole “Sampleverse” thing, which wants to sell me all these sample packs… ugh

Under “MY STUFF”, I have this long list of “stuff”, but then I’m finding out that I really don’t have much of anything according to all the “Unlock this and that, core, verse etc” that’s being offered for me to purchase.

I guess I’m just not the target consumer for this type of thing. I’ve tried to participate, but I can honestly say this might be one of the rare cases where I actually remove a music app from my iPad.

And I think it's only a matter of time before it's time for the V4 unlock...

I jumped on the Z-train with the iOS V2 unlock when it was offered for free (or very cheap) during the pandemic and then I got the iOS V3 unlock which was heavily discounted (think it was $4.99 or so).

Other than that I've not bought any additional stuff for it, but I have downloaded the free 'mix tapes' when they have dropped for additional sounds.

I admit that ZC-1 was one of the reasons I got the V3 unlock and I had hopes to see a full ZenCore synth with patch editing inside ZenBeats as well as being able to run it as an AUv3 on iOS but maybe that's just way too much wishful thinking.

It is what it is and It's very nice to see the developers improving it at a rate which makes me wonder what the other DAW developers on iOS are doing?!

    Cheers!
