I hope this does get the multi out function as mentioned, would also like to see all layers view in the AU version. These are the only things holding me back from an initial purchase, although will probably get it anyway
You can already access all layers in the AUv3 but you can only see one at a time.
We still don't have a simple AUv3 Midi-File player so that could be a nice touch as well
I've been using MIDI SWEET: Module Unit for my SMF needs, but this app is on another level! It works like a charm. The "all layers" view may be a nice addition, but it's not a real "need". While the multi output can be very interesting expecially for applying ad-hoc FX to specific channels!
Anyway, for me, a life changer!
I’ve been using the SoundFonts app mainly because of its simplicity. KQ Sampei is still simple but being able to layer patches and have a little control over how each patch sounds can create great new sounds from your old soundfonts. Love the streamlined barebones design.
Yeah being able to see more at once is what I mean, always prefer identical AU/Standalone guis these days, not a fan of it being a different experience.
I will get this anyway though since I really like KQ Dixie and Ryouta's apps
Thanks to you the noise has been reduced.
I have released a new version in which you can select Load-on-demand level 2.
I can load 4GB sound font on my 1GB RAM device though sometimes noise occurs.
Thank you.
Wow, that's excellent news! That purchase was a no-brainer 😃
If there's one little enhancement for level 2, may I ask you to consider adding a slider for adjusting the preload buffer size?
Also, maybe @VirSyn would be so kind to add a few words about what he did in AudioLayer to stream samples from disk (almost) without issues?
Thank you.
Another improvement that could be handy (and is doable) is direct linking to the SF2 files without having to create a copy of them. This is done by the way of the app asking for permission to use the location where the file is. After permission is granted by the user the app gets a url to the file which can be used to access the file/folder and its content.
Lumafusion uses this method as well as an upcoming drum app and I strongly suspect PureSynth Platinum uses the same method as well.
@RyoutaKira I think this is worth investigating ‘file linking’.
If/when you add AUv3 multi-out support it will bring KQ Sampei to another level without any real competition
Cheers!
Love this! A mixer view would be nice with mutes and solos. I think there’s a bug where you premute all of the channels except one (drums on 10) then hit play and it unmutes all the channels and turns them back on. This is where I miss the solo button.
Oh man if this had SSD streaming it would be killer.
Upcoming drum app, that’s cryptic… any hints?

Got no ETA or anything else to share...
Cool. Thanks.
It’s free for Mac, hopefully the port will be the same. Looks nice.
I used the 1.0 version of the app but got rid of it because it was crashing GarageBand on macOS. I have less and less tolerance for problem apps and won’t give them a second chance unless there are drastic improvements.
Wow! looks amazing so far, it only need a rate knob or a Reverse function to be perfect.
the reverb always at the max level when i load some third party sf2,even the knob is at “0”,the chorus is fine,i think its a bug.and,i cant change the icon in aum,but i remember its fine before i update to 15.6
by the way ,this is a very practical app, nice interface and preset manager
Has anyone tried the MPE functionality of this? Will this turn any soundfont into an mpe instrument? How do you assign what note on / off / aftertouch / pitchbend and y axis control? Is there a matrix or something? So wary now when something calls itself mpe whether it will live up to whatI expect from an mpe instrument! Sounds like a killer soundfont player regardless. Ability to load your own raw samples has still not been added? Is that in the pipeline?
Are you sure the reverb is not in the sf2 itself?
Is there a manual for this?
Hi everyone,
I don't have this app yet but as a few of my sample sets are available as soundfonts too (like the Baby Piano ) it certainly interests me.
If anyone has the time to let me know, I would like to know how does the soundfonts are imported in it exactly?
Thank you
After you download an sf2, you can Share it to KQ Sampei, using the Sharing menu for the file.
Edit: Once you've shared it, you need to add it in the Sound Set Manager under the app Preferences (gear icon). Then you can select it from the Patch window in the GUI.
@uncledave Cool, thanks for the reply!
In some patches of Sound Font initial reverb send value is set.
In order to fix this, Select "Soft Pedal and Reverb Fix" modifier.
The modifier is added in the version 1.0.8.
I’ve been wondering this too, as to I have picked GeoShred back up, and yes, the MPE functionality works. I tried it on a third party Jupiter soundfont from a Jupiter sound bank that I had purchased. I cannot answer your question about how to assign stuff, because KQ, MPE, and GeoShred are not my comfort zone yet, but the GeoShred MPE mode/synthy preset/midi simply works out of the box for me. I noticed that the Y axis controls frequency, and the X controls expression. So maybe it’s not really MPE since Helium, I think, doesn’t support MPE? Either way, I can hear what’s happening, X is pitch and Y filter. Hope that helps.
.
It's a wonderful app. Included sounds are very good and the preset navigation is nice. That's often the first app I open when I just want to play something on my keyboard.
It also plays conveniently midi files (in a basic way, as it relies on the ios folders, but it's super quick and efficient). However, seems that it can't play midi files when it is opened as an AUV3, for example in AUM. Did I miss something or is it the normal behaviour of the app @RyoutaKira ?
Very good/stable GM rompler AUv3. This took forever but glad it’s here
You cannot play midi files on KQ Sampei Audio Unit.
Sorry for the late response.
by the way, I updated KQ Sampei today. The new feature is iCloud sync of sound sets.
@RyoutaKira : hiya. Just to say KQ Sampei seems to have become very crashy for me in AUM, repeatedly quitting if I touch anything else with a pattern running.
