Used Tonex live for first time today!!!
Showed up to rehearsal and my iPhone's battery was completely dead Thank God I had my other pedalboard with me just in case. But thank God battery jumped on fast and it worked right before rehearsal began!!! My old iPhone 6s plus is too old but thankfully it all worked out perfectly! 3 Sunday worship services!
Setup:
Had Nembrini free Klon Clone loaded,
Into THU Overloud Pitch Shifter, into iFX Rack Dotter 8 Reverb into Tonex 1964 AC30 TB amp with 2×12 Alnico speaker Cab into iFX Rack Delay set at 1/4 note delays into Eventide Blackhole Reverb all hosted in AUM at 96khz 24 bit mono out to FOH via Xtone Pro audio midi interface.
I can't wait to learn to use Loopy Pro and create my preset to host all this setup! Thanks to @Wim and @espiegel123 for helping me with the LoopynPro setup. I really was grateful the AUM setup was rock solid thru the wholen3 worship services and never crashed! 🙌 .
Here's the link if anyone would like to hear the Tone of the Tonex amp and effects through the live stream.
Blessings to you all!!!

Nice job! It took awhile to find some places where I could hear you. But when I did, it sounded really good. 👍🏼
Thanks Wim! Yeah didn't realize the sound/video team uploads the entire stream! Lol but thanks! I was hovering around 60-70% cpu at that resolution! Weird thing is if I went to 48khz cpu would actually go up! Now that I can’t understand. So I stayed at 96khz 24bit at 512 buffer.
The CPU indicator doesn't really reflect how hard your phone is working. It reflects how much of the processing power iOS is making available at that time. iOS dynamically allocates processing power as needed. Your phone was probably actually working harder and sucking more battery at those settings. The operating system kicked in faster cores, making the available power higher, and lowering the indicated percentage.
I know. It's hard to get your head around, but the bottom line is the CPU meter was most likely misleading about how hard your phone was actually working.
Wow this is so interesting! Never knew this amount of detail. Sorry for late response. Been so busy with playing, grandpa duty and visiting family! But yeah, thanks WIM for the information! I wonder if it really is cost effective to put a new iPhone battery. For now, I was planning to use this iPhone as a standalone unit part of my pedalboard! Even if it no longer upgrades. As long as I can get the most out of it and continue playing it live. Of course, I'd love more CPU power to add some more effects like chorus and perhaps a better pitch Shifter effect. I really like the pitch Shifter in BIAS FX2 but hate adding it as it's not AU. Not too crazy about any if the pitch effects in THU also. The Nembrini one is OK but hogs my cpu big time. Any recommendations?
FAC Chorus is a great chorus and not CPU heavy.
What sort of pitch shifter are you after? Eventide's QVox isn't bad.
I wouldn't change the battery. I've seen too many screens never be the same afterward. I would just get a battery bank. That's something you should have as a backup anyway if you're performing, no matter how good your battery is. I have had this one since forever, but the choices are many.
None. I would never use one for live playing. I just don't like the way they track. They add latency too.
I really like octaver tracking in Yonac ToneStack Pro. I don't feel added latency there and I'm really enjoying the play. There is some background metallic noise noticeable during solo play even at "Best" settings. But not a big issue for me because it is masked by drums or other instrument. TH-U octavers are a joke compared to Yonac Tonestack.
I found THU octaver horrible and glitchy. I actually had a dispute with THU when they rejected my refund, after I had spent quite a large amount on IAP packs and other effects. Deleted THU and never coming back.
Here’s a comparison I made back then, ToneStack vs THU Octaver:
And here’s the THU terrible Octaver vs the supposedly inferior “Legacy Octaver”.
Oh wow! Thanks for the link! Will definitely get one now! Makes perfect sense. My whole pedalboard is dead if power goes out so iPhone is no different lol. Thank you all for the awesome advise and ideas!
Merry Christmas and blessings to you all.
Totally agree! Hopefully they work on a better pitch effect. That's why I saved my cash and went with Tonex! I was about to spend on Rigs when my friend told me about Tonex so far best purchase ever. I thinl THU is still an awesome all around product nd it gives users choices. Bias FX2 still has my favorite delays and Pitch shifters. But bummer is still not AU.
By the way, for anyone still on the fence for Tonex Max, tje sale at IK Multimedia is still goimg for $79 which also unlocks the IOS Tone Max version for free!

Tonex just has got 1.5 version. Not sure about iOS version, no updates yet in Appstore

Only just discovered Tonex, I’ve only got the free version but I like it.
How is everyone feeling about it now? Still enjoying it?
Has anyone bought the pedal, if so what do they think. Should I bother with it or am I better off sticking with my iPad Pro, irig HD and AUM. I’ve already got all the Nembrini pedals and the Overloud ones.
Also which version of the software do I need? IK have a sale on their site, I can get the max version for £99. Do I need that? Should I buy the pedal? I can get that for £333. That includes the Max version and the full version of Amplitube 5 too.
Sorry for all the questions, I’m just confused🤷🏻♂️ Thanks
The versions in Tonex are really confusing. You can find some posts about that in this thread. Someone in this forum posted about the sale on the IK website, where if you purchased the Max at reduced price you also got the iOS… extremely confusing and obscure method to get it working. You had to delete the app, sign out, sign back in… can’t even remember but it actually worked!.
I’d recommend the max version just for the unlimited user tones, there’s a ton of them, really good stuff. Got more than I need, don’t see why I’d need the Pro version.
Edit: it was @Tones4Christ that gave the heads up about the sale. But it was less than $79 then…
Tonex has become my preferred all-purpose amp sim. I still sometimes use Nembrini Xtasy but having gotten the discounted Max upgrade, I have found some great user captures.
I use BYOD with it a fair amount.
I can’t make up my mind whether to just buy the software while it’s on offer for £99 or whether to buy the pedal and get both softwares with it. Would the pedal be an upgrade on my current irig HD 2 interface🤷🏻♂️
Hey guys get the ToneX Max!!! Way better than buying just the pedal unless you really want the pedal. But in IOS, using AUM you can have as many instances of ToneX as your ipad or iPhone can handle!!!
Plus you can add all sorts of Nembrini amazing effects before and after ToneX!!! I'm currently using it live at church and the worship team loves the tones coming out!!! Especially the sound man! Oooh when the sound man likes your tone, youb scored!!! Lol!
Just last night I figured out a best way to setup ToneX in AUM using effects send channels to host my Reverbs! It's so much better to add a send module to thebmain track! Oh well that's for another time!
If it's still on sale, run don't walk and buy it at IK Multimedia site!!
I'm using a 1964 Vox AC30 TB as my main amp and wow!! Seriously lobe that amp guys!!

Ok you’ve convinced me, I’m going to buy the software. I’m interested in hearing about your set up in AUM as I’m not sure if I’m setting mine up properly to run my guitar through.
I have bought it, one question I have is how do I import externally bought pack content into the IOS app?
Awe man! I knew that was coming. Okay, currently there is no straight way to add them directly to IOS! But my tweaky mind couldn't accept that. So I googled and googled til I found half a post in a forum which didn't give out the procedures except to use a software called iMazing. Thankfully I have that software which only costs $25. If you decide to get it, make sure you don't use your license on another iPad or iPhone as it only allows you to use the license on a single IOS gadget. I can PM you the steps. I had to write them down cause the first time I did it, I didn't write it down and I forgot the steps and almost pulled my hair out at certain points. Well, it's doable but you have to be willing to dig in a little into the IOS backup with iMazing.
But if you don't want to, there's enough free amps available in Tone.net to keep you happy for yeqrs!!! Lol.
Thanks for response, I think I’ll play around for a while and if I feel I need some other sounds I’ll try that. I did have a thought though what if I import the externally bought content into my Mac version of TONEX then send it to the cloud. Then I could download the tone from the cloud right?
Adding them works perfectly on the Mac and PC. That's how I first loaded 3rd party purchased captures.
Unless it is purchased from IK the third party captures do not sync from the desktop version to the IOS. The ones you buy from IK in the Collections store, do, provided you sync them on the desktop first. Then open your iPad and Restore Purchases and they download.
Anyone know where to see how many of the 20 free downloads are remaining on an account?
Sweet!!! Didn't know this. Thanks!!!
Guys, I wanna run 2 ToneX amps in AUM but there's some kind of phase issue. Hoe do I fix the phase in AUM? Thanks in advance.
You mean two amps stacked together at the same time? You would have to make sure you disable the cabinet emulation or IR on the first one or it’s gonna sound awful. Depending on the amps and the settings might sound bad like that too.
If you want to switch between them you can bypass one of them by swiping left on the node or using a midi controller to bypass one of the amps.
Or do you mean two input channels on two different amps? That could definitely cause some phasing issues. There are some techniques to try to get this to work properly depending on the tone and amps and whatnot. Don’t have time to elaborate for now, gotta make dinner but yea.
Yeah! That's exactly what I want to do. Host one ToneX amp in Channel 1 and another Amp in Channel 2.
The first one alone sounds Awesome! But when I enable the second Channel it thins out.
