Sorry - to clarify what I meant was a grid to be able to manually enter notes after the fact. It would be a lot quicker and more direct to tap in a note or two than to play them in, nudge and quantize.
yep that way too in gate mode, you just need to retype the tempo in sometimes.
i think swap sample is the only way to add same sample in a different drum pad.
Just tested, and yes it does!
Personally I find this app to be almost perfect. The ONLY thing I consider a must have that it doesn't have yet is the ability to handle different time signatures. Other than that, BRILLIANT sketchpad!
I have considered some of the other suggestions but every time I come back to the notion of this app as a sketchpad. It doesn't look like it ever was designed to finish tracks in. I bought Live! 11 and a Push 2 a couple of years ago and have felt overwhelmed by the complexity of both. Note has really helped me as far as giving me a simple and intuitive platform to create rough drafts on that I can smoothly transition to desktop with less intimidation and more momentum to finish a track.
That being said, I wouldn't turn down MIDI input. I have keys and pads and they could come in handy for more precision, but it IS a sketchpad. I'm getting audio in on channels one and two and sampling guitar into a drum rack from Live! back through my AUDIO4c. Soon I will try that with vocals. A sequencer might be okay, but is that too much precision for a rough draft?
I've drastically pared down the music apps on my SE first gen and I am wishing I could get a refund on a large portion of the music apps I have bought over the past few years for my iPad.
I'm very grateful for this app and looking forward to finish up some tracks!!
Can you put the sampler in mono?
nope.
great to have our own user presets or a minimal feature of mono/poly switch.
The poor trap dudes can't make 808 sample basslines without mono on the simpler.... I'm partial to a good 808 bassline myself.
I guess adding a switch will break the current design. I suggested having a mono sampler instrument with a glide time macro
yeah a specific simpler factory preset on mono will help if we know what the preset name is.
still the issue with the default simpler which is in poly mode though.
why I look forward to editing my own presets on live one day and import user presets via cloud to Note. the same 8 macro knob system can be used to restrict the options.
When midi in comes I wonder if Ableton will enable MPE?
The wavetable synth is a MPE powerhouse. Infact Simpler is MPE too.
I know why my apps have every single feature mapped to an immediately discoverable menu entry or toolbar button like in the 1980s (best time to be alive) 🥳
I just thought about something very positive that comes from note limitations:
I can share a project to whoever has Ableton Note seamlessly, I don't hve to worry about AUv3 compatibility or anything as everything is nicely packed on the saved file.
Bonus micro jam:
That’s really nice man. 👍
Anyone?:

some serious bugs have been fixed in Ableton live in regards to Note so its good to download 11.2.6 when you have time.
I still want midi in, stem export without tail and a monophonic sampler 🤣
Can Note sample from other apps, like Netflix etc?
Yes, just hold the mic on your phone up to the TV speaker.
This feels as though it's the answer to so many questions I am asked out in the world....
🤣
No program can, some can extract audio from a screen recording, like koala, so you could record the screen, import to koala, and share to ableton note...
At that point you are better using koala tho
Oh. I removed the mic from my phone. Shame.
Have anyone noticed similarity to Auxy Studio app? Even the fonts and colors are the same. I think both are great but I don
t like Auxy Studio
s subscription model so I will stick to Note. Thanks for Ableton not going that route. I wish they will add vocal recording and Auxy type midi editor. Note would be perfect for me then.Yeah I always wanted live recording and knob turning automation in Auxy so this does kind of have that vibe for me. The subscription isn’t even the worst part of Auxy, it’s the fact that everything must be manually programmed, no jamming whatsoever.
This does give me the idea of sampling Auxy sounds and then importing them into Note
I remember being on a very active Auxy discord community, I wonder what they think about note, for sure is WAAAAY CHEAPER
They are just one shot samples aren't they?
