I still don't have Note yet, but yes that's annoying to remove features. It says on the update notes that it's been removed from Chromatic scale but does that mean it's still there on other scales?

That's correct. It's there for the in-scale layout but it was hardly usable on the chromatic layout and caused more pain than good for many users.

wasn't painful at all for me and I used it alot, please put it back if you are from Ableton dev team.

Is velocity still there for other scales? Can someone confirm

    Yes, it's still there.

have to say taking away velocity from the keyboard is not a particularly great move IMO. Hopefully Ableton will stick to adding features rather than taking away perfectly useful ones. Bit baffled from this feature removal.

    wait what?

edit: ooh for the chromatic keyboard, meh

My wish list in order of priority:

    • Midi in
    • Monophonic sampler
    • Stem export
    • Perfect loop export (no tail)

    Edit 2:

    • Sidechain Compressor
    • Send tracks

    Lol I'll never be happy

Midi in is a must. Including VIRTUAL midi.

The fact that you can open Note with KB-1 side to side perfectly but can't use it is just so wrong :(

  • If only they’d support normal sequencer recording and editing, I’d buy this - since I now have V11. But the weird system they’re using just doesn’t appeal at all to me.

I keep hoping for an update, but….

it might be meh to you but I use a normal keyboard to write music, not a scaled version as I know all my scales. I like to borrow notes outside the scale so velocity is very useful to me on a chromatic err normal keyboard..

  • Yeah removal of velocity seems like a retrograde.. :(
Is the retrospective recording system any good/similar to Endless?
    That’s a magical feature.

indeed, weird to add a feature and it doesn't work. not like anyone wouldn't notice midi input.

I tried the bluetooth also, Note says it connects to my seaboard but it also doesn't actually work. Bit of P tease.

  • What’s weird is it’s not even mentioned in the version notes

  • Looking into it, thanks for the heads up peeps.

  • Certainly doesn’t work with korg nanokey 2.

  • Doesn’t work via usb with any of the three midi controllers I’ve tried, doesn’t even see them. It does says it’s connected via Bluetooth to my Microkey Air but I get no sound. Hopefully it’ll get solved soonish, this was the thing I wanted most in Note 🤞🏼

  • Yeah this midi implementation sucks. There’s no virtual midi whatsoever so if you’re thinking about using all of the cool midi sending apps we have on iOS with Note, forget it. Very disappointed at how half assed this is

    Whattt

  • Yep. It only seems to be a bluetooth connection but it doesnt even work with bluetooth.

I just want to play chords with tonality or audanika ableton pleaseeee

  • I just want to be able to use my launchpad with it considering they were made for ableton

    Same here

  • Overall is good news, at least they are working on it

  • It feels like an update that was prematurely published.

  • Definitely not supposed to be like this, it was working fine in testing. We're looking into it, I'll let you know if I hear anything back from the Note team.

Did it work with other ios apps or just with hardware connection via bluetooth?

  • @cokomairena Not working with hardware connections for me, either

  • This is the thread on the ableton forums:

    https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=246642&sid=b2ad5b35d4634fcafd1ebf8f77f4b2a2

For them seems to be working(?)

  • Also official info always said capture MIDI

  • Technically what you are playing and recording in Note IS MIDI via the app itself. But the new update was supposed to allow external MIDI devices to be used, and it's not working for some people. Patience, something odd happened with this 1.06 update and we're looking into it.
