Also official info always said capture MIDI

Capture is already working in Ableton Note since it was released. It's not specifically linked to external hardware midi controller input.

Technically what you are playing and recording in Note IS MIDI via the app itself. But the new update was supposed to allow external MIDI devices to be used, and it's not working for some people. Patience, something odd happened with this 1.06 update and we're looking into it.

What about midi via other apps? Do they just plan on ignoring the entire ecosystem they’ve inserted themselves into? They expect me to buy hardware for my software on my mobile device?

Well I’m sure the excuse will be that it’s too difficult to get the capture to not reset itself while the user switches from the other app back to Note. Whatever.

Dude you work at Ableton? Or is this a quote from them? Nice!

Yes I work for Ableton, advanced product tester and I admin their user forums. Plus various other things here and there as needed.

They don't expect you to do anything I imagine, not sure they even know who you are.

Will it support external midi APPS?

That's the whole point of having midi in iOS :(

midi is midi, if it has midi input you can throw any midi output at it including ios app midi output.

errrr ... it just doesn't work at the moment....

    LOLOL

  • Yup, my Roli Block connects but no triggering - I’m sure Ableton will fix it shortly.

Send this screenshot over to them with a link to Audanika in the store and say this is what we want

I’m 100% sure they don’t know who I am. I’m just butthurt I can’t spit chords from Audanika at it. So sue me.

  • @Tarekith Thanks for the info. Deep breath guys, good that they're on the field, just need to fix their cleats :)

Right Shoe for Right Foot…Left Shoe for Left Foot…Jock Strap for…we get the picture 🤪

  • Yer hoping they sort the midi out can’t see it anywhere mentioned in settings !

  • Wish there was an option to make every track auto grow.

    The “Drambo” setting?

  • Yes, Drambo does it…of course!

  • They’ll be talking about Drambo at Ableton headquarters too I bet.

Hey folks, just a quick update on MIDI input. This feature was not supposed to be enabled/visible in the latest v1.06 update, which was pushed out to fix a critical Ableton Cloud Sync bug. That menu item for MIDI input should not have been in the update, which is why it's not working yet. There's still a bit of work to do to get this functionality as stable as we'd want it to be for release, but in the meantime consider it a small teaser of things to come.

    Sorry for the confusion.

  • That's... contradictory, ok, let's hope we get midi in soon!

hihi, it was a P tease after all! look forward to the real release of midi in. Should be very cool.

  • You all will laugh, but I finally bought the app yesterday because of this, as it turned out, teaser :D

:s well, it's a fun app without midi

  • It’s indeed fun without. I am wondering if more sounds or something of that nature is in store for the future. Obviously you can load your own samples, but it’s reaaaal nice to tweak and automate those synths

  • Soooo midi is gone altogether now? Did they just give up? 🤷🏽‍♂️

They said it was a mistake, they haven't finnished programming it, maybe in a month or so? hopefully, but certainly not in a day.

  • Patience grasshoppers, patience.

  • You never know a new tease could be any moment.
