Woo hoo, I can finally talk about this one. Been testing it for a LONG time, so if anyone has any questions about it let me know.
As mentioned it’s only for Live 11 to maintain compatibility with the current library and instruments when you transfer to Live. All the synth sounds use the newer Wavetable instrument, so you get a very powerful little synth in your pocket. Some pretty sweet drum racks in the app too, with some nice effects in each which you can edit back on the desktop.
Yeah it's nice to see, but I need bi-directional set support. I want to be able to take sets I create in Live and jam with them on mobile devices too, I think this is essential for me over the long term.
Porting the whole Live library including all the instruments and sample packs to the iPhone would be very hard given its many GB in size.
One more thing I haven’t seen mentioned here is that you can only store up to 5 Note projects in the cloud at any one time. It’s easy swap out projects it’s local ones if you need to, but that’s one limitation that had to be made.
I don't need the whole library, just being able to create a custom set to export from Live is what's needed even if it's restricted to some basic instruments and drum racks is fine.

How do I change the length of a note? I can't find any information in the manual and have tried countless gestures.

Agreed, plus some the stuff in Ableton is Max for Live.

I’m loving it so far, I use several IPad apps that export projects as Ableton projects but this is the only one that actually allows us to use and even edit Ableton instruments. I’m not really that sold on the Ableton cloud yet, Airdrop from the IPad to me Mac works just fine but I can understand that feature being there for PC or anyone with Airdrop. The only thing I REALLY wish this had was core midi so we could use midi keyboard controllers, I’d love to use my Mpk mini rather than the screen keyboard, other than that, completely worth the money and then some.
Well hopefully Ableton will address compatibility from Live as it's a bit of a deal breaker for me.
Live 11 should be able now to create a "Note Set" which might include just a sampler, drum rack and Wavetable synth. Or you could export a small range of these custom instruments from Live to Ableton Cloud for Note.
I don't need the whole library just the basics.
I'm a heavy Live and iOS user and a bit of back and forth is very useful creatively to build on ideas.
Hosting AUv3 would be great, especially if I can export to M1 Mac and use the same AUv3s now that Ableton can host them.

I'm personally a bit underwhelmed. Ableton has so many great technologies under their control, but they released a walled-off, somewhat gimped app. Reminds me of what NI did with iMaschine, Akai did with iMPC, Pioneer did with the RMX-1000, Serato did with Serato Remote, etc...etc...etc. Instead of leveraging the power of the iOS platform, they use the brand recognition to funnel users into more expensive hardware and/or desktop software. I have Ableton 10 but rarely use it and this doesn't make me want to upgrade at all.
Love that you can nest folders in the Files app for Sampler imports and the UI makes them easy to select. One or the other is usually cobbled in ios apps. The UI is so intuitive. Great start for a 1.0.

And Files app functionality is limited to .wav 8 tracks export (or mastered single .wav?)
And there’s no access to midi files it produces, except via that new format, which opens in Live…
The export is not .als but a Ableton Cloud specific format, and you can only sync 5 projects at a time. Seems like 8 x 8 matrix only, 8 tracks with 8 clips.

Doubtful that will come, as mentioned elsewhere that would break compatibility for Windows users.
It's not possible yet to duplicate from one drum rack cell to another right?
Edit: figured it, just get the sample from recordings.
I've got a question. As a Live Standard user, I can't access the Wavetable synth on the desktop, so what do I see when I pull in a Note project that uses these Wavetable based presets? Are they then flattened and uneditable?

As far as I know also Live Standard comes with some sounds which are based on Wavetable, but you can't "open" (or edit) them.
Totally missed you can automate stuff too! Thanks for the video. Say what you want, but it is a smart little thingy. One wish I have is another background when editing notes, instead of pitch black a grid would have been awesome.
Be great actually if this was a AUv3 app so we could host it inside AUM etc just to keep everything on iPad and use external AU effects would not grumble about that at all as a starter and a improvement from version 1.
I am pretty much done with iOS for now. I banked a ton of stems for desktop though. Was a good time.
