I hate to be the one to say it, but plugins like this will quickly become unnecessary after Logic Pro comes out in a week.

Something like Borsta is integrated in Logic, really? Tell me more…

Something like Borsta has been in GarageBand for a while now (probably more than a year?). I'm guessing that's where Klevgrand got the idea.

These brush drummers can do nothing compared to what Borsta is capable of, only cheap suppliers. There are not only brush sounds but also percussions and endless possibilities to influence dynamics and groove.

GarageBand had brush drummers before Klevgrand and for the majority of people putting together a GarageBand track, I believe they'll be well served. Borsta provides additional options.

But what if you’re not going to subscribe to Logic? :)

Why not? ;) If you have the hardware capable of running it and the room to store it, I can't think of a reason why anyone wouldn't want to at least use the free month for evaluation.

I’m unfortunately right at the hardware cutoff point with an iPad Pro 12.9” 2nd gen (2017). Still working great for my music needs (and has a headphone jack). Can’t justify a new iPad + subscription fee at this point just for Logic.

Yes, for those of us with older iPads/iPads Pro it'll be decision time. I'm planning on upgrading.

Is Brusfri still considered the best thing on ios for removing noise, say recording on ipad mic in relatively predictable sonic environments? If not, what is? For those who use it, has it been running well lately? Does Klevgrand offer nice/responsive customer service? Thank you

I use Brusfri to reduce noise from my tracks brought in from my 4-track, and I’m very impressed with the quality of the noise reduction, and the lack of artifacts. Not sure about the level of support… never needed to contact them. :)

But why? I'm mostly using my iPad for FX/recording/mixing, I'm pretty happy with what I have at the moment and I don't think Logic would give me any meaningful upgrade over Cubasis (okay, other than the acoustic drums). I've used Logic for a few months and frankly I regret paying for it, it was full of small annoyances and had one critical issue (which can thankfully be circumvented now that it has Ableton Link).

I certainly take the position that with current information I don’t see any compelling reason to switch from Cubasis to LP. Once full reviews are out and I can trial it maybe the MIDI and audio editors will provide that. I further already avoid built-in effects and instruments in Cubasis, I don't want to be locked in.

They don’t seem to have a problem selling VST versions to desktop users, many of whom most likely also have Logic X, so I’m guessing our AU’s won’t suddenly become redundant.

Personally I’ve never really got on with the Logic, or GarageBand drummers, and have always created my percussion tracks on the iPad with apps like Borsta. I’m looking forward to using them with Logic iOS when it arrives.

Exactly, professional DAWS are all over the desktops, and a zillion developers creating awesome VSTs for them, so where is the idea coming from that Logic for iPad is going to make our apps and fx completely obsolete? Since the announcement of Logic it’s like some fine people overhere started sniffing glue and can’t think straight anymore. :#

My question was not whether people are well served by the quite generic GB brush drummers (btw we really should expect Logic to exceed GB in this regard, don't we?) but rather if Logic leaves some outstanding AUv3 plugins like Borsta as unnecessary. My guess is definitely not. Some apps from Bram Bos, FAC, FabFilter and other top tier devs will be hard to beat and I don't expect anything comparable in Logic. Although I think we will soon see a certain quantum leap for iOS in terms of DAW functionality. But let's be surprised....

Thanks for pointing that out, I missed that. Sometimes apps do need those permissions to perform their functions, I’m not sure if this one does, maybe for syncing the content across devices or platforms? Not sure. I could see it needing that if it was a collaborative tool to keep track of what person provided what content, but this seems to be a personal project and task tool. I downloaded it, not sure I’ll keep it though.

As far as i know, the Drummers in GarageBand are the same ones in Logic Pro. Only difference is the ability to customize your own kit in Logic Pro. I consider the drums in MODO Drum far superior, but there’s no real interactive Drummer in MODO.
