    Hi Poppa,

How do you track deals on plugins for Desktop? I'm looking for a website with alerts like AppSliced.

I use a few sites. Mostly for samples since I don’t really use desktop, but they have lots of great stuff updates almost daily.

    Y’all beat me to it…

    Klevgrand App Store page

I hate to be the one to say it, but plugins like this will quickly become unnecessary after Logic Pro comes out in a week.

Something like Borsta is integrated in Logic, really? Tell me more…

Something like Borsta has been in GarageBand for a while now (probably more than a year?). I'm guessing that's where Klevgrand got the idea.

These brush drummers can do nothing compared to what Borsta is capable of, only cheap suppliers. There are not only brush sounds but also percussions and endless possibilities to influence dynamics and groove.

GarageBand had brush drummers before Klevgrand and for the majority of people putting together a GarageBand track, I believe they'll be well served. Borsta provides additional options.

My question was not whether people are well served by the quite generic GB brush drummers (btw we really should expect Logic to exceed GB in this regard, don't we?) but rather if Logic leaves some outstanding AUv3 plugins like Borsta as unnecessary. My guess is definitely not. Some apps from Bram Bos, FAC, FabFilter and other top tier devs will be hard to beat and I don't expect anything comparable in Logic. Although I think we will soon see a certain quantum leap for iOS in terms of DAW functionality. But let's be surprised....

As far as i know, the Drummers in GarageBand are the same ones in Logic Pro. Only difference is the ability to customize your own kit in Logic Pro. I consider the drums in MODO Drum far superior, but there’s no real interactive Drummer in MODO.

Yeah, it is to be expected that Logic will unfortunately not make a decent step forward in terms of drums, compared to what has been standard for desktop for years. Admittedly only in the form of plugins but a slimmed down version of MODO integrated into Logic with some interaction would have been a great move.

The nice thing with MODO compared to EZ and especially Superior Drummer is its relatively small disk space footprint and very affordable price. Physical Modeling technology is hard to beat and I'm surprised there aren't a lot more apps offered in the meantime, which would save us a lot of headaches with the ridiculously high prices Apple charges for RAM. If at least the devs would consistently implement disk streaming, which is not even the case with Xinematix. As much as I appreciate Harry's stuff for years, but somehow some things don't seem to fit at all with the latest release. But that‘s already discussed in another tread.

On one hand, “low knowledge customers” and the attitude of “if they can’t afford it , they won’t know how to use it” REALLY rubs me the wrong way.

    That is a great deal!

I'm sure they sound great, but I'm trying to only buy modeled instruments at this time. There's no reason I should download a multi-gigabyte instrument when a very capable dozen megabyte one will give me a better result.

Just a general statement in support of modeled instruments versus sampled ones.

Pianoteq out here ending everyone’s career 😂 I agree though. There’s really no comparison.

$.99 for Manetron is great but I already have Mellowsound and Sampletron so I can’t really justify it. Unless it offers something then others don’t?

Totally worth it. I think it has a unique sound and workflow compared to some other VAs on the App Store. Grand Piano 2 is great as well. Basically a high quality sampled piano that you can turn into a synth.

Kind of annoying when devs do that. Customers who paid are left feeling like chumps, notwithstanding "if it wasn't worth it to you, you shouldn't have paid in the first place" argument.

Yup, it definitely was mentioned but absolutely worth a double for those who may have missed it.

@satchnut i totally understand where you’re coming from, but to be fair the people who purchased were able to use it the whole time, plus it wasn’t that much money, and the company could have changed, or evolved in some aspect of their thinking, thus changing their pricing strategy. I will say… if I would have just bought the AU unlock, then it went free, it would sting a little. Lol. In this case, if that did happen to me I’d still feel like I got my moneys worth, I think.

And I think some of his apps support AUv3 and some only support IAA, so people might want to check that before they buy in case that is a concern. But they look like nice sounding apps.

    See it as a sale.

I paid full price for Moog Model 15 and then....I saw it for 0,00$ for a couple of days.

I don’t feel like a chump at all. I’m happy I’ve been able to AUV3 this entire time and the money went towards supporting a great dev. Win-win. Kinda like saying that when an app goes on sale too. No need to feel like a chump because someone else got it cheaper. It’s just the way it is.

True. If you're happy when you buy something, don't be unhappy if the price changes later. Things are always changing and you can't predict the future.
