Thanks. Will go that way then !
I’m very tempted to agree with you here. It’s definitely in my top 5 iOS apps ever now I would say. I’m not as tempted by pro but do want at least Standard even if just for morphing and layering and additional parameter/mic tweaking.
Well I know what I’m doing tonight. Gonna scroll through all the patches and start favoriting some. Thanks!
@JanKun @Grandbear I’m trying to sign up for a JRR Shop account to buy it there, but it’s not loading the captcha I need to complete the signup process. Did either of you have this problem?
v8.1.3 is out:
It worked without any problem here. Maybe try from a different device.
I tried that. Also tried with different browsers. I wrote to JRR support, and then just gave up and bought direct from Modartt.
I picked the Steinway Model D, the Blüthner, and the U4 upright.
Does not work for me either. Which browser did you use? I tried chrome, safari, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. Tried both Mac and PC for the first 3. Also tried on iPad.
I already have an account, but I tried the sign up page and the captcha image is not leading for me either, so there does seem to be a problem at the moment
I’ll report back if they reply to my support email.
If I remember well, I registered from my android phone using Chrome.
I called JRR Shop just now and let them know. I was pretty blunt and said any new customer that wants to sign up to your shop and give you guys money right now can't. He said he would text the owner right away.
Update: The captcha issue on JRRshop has been fixed
Nice. Too late for me as I already bought it direct, but thanks for making them fix it!
Maybe I will grab another piano
Nice! I can only conclude that a lot of people who think pianoteq sounds bad have not checked out the recent versions. I don't think it was great when it first came out, but has been constantly improved. I'm definitely a fan on every level.
It really is great. I have only compared it to the Spitfire upright in Ableton, and the Pianos in Logic on the Mac, and I much prefer it. It feels more alive, and really shines with a good weighted controller. I also love that I can run it on my iPhone, which is insane.
Don't forget to check out the non piano instruments too! I personally really love the harps and some of the electric pianos. Pianoteq modeling and tweakability is miles beyond Genuine Sounds stuff, btw, from what I have seen so far. The vibraphone for example is not remotely on the same level as Pianoteq. And remember if you have at least Pianoteq Standard, to experiment with the morphing feature and with the various physical modeling parameters. There is also a random morph feature which is super cool, and which benefits from having as many different pianoteq instruments of different flavours as possible, which is why you may end up wanting to buy the Pianoteq Pro Studio bundle like me and McD did 😁😅
+1. I love the modeled organs from GSI and I am a big fan of Just Piano, but Pianoteq is truly marvelous. I think my next buy will be standard + either the electric pianos or the vibes. I’ll probably stick to Just Piano for pianos though surprisingly. Not sure why but I just really clicked with the sound of it. Not quite as realistic as Pianoteq and not nearly as tweakable, but sounds great and more pleasant to my ears.
Can I purchase only single instruments without an upgrade (standard, stage) Path? Will they be fully working instruments? Or I have to have at least Standard version?
When you buy Stage you get to choose 2 instruments. You need at least the stage license.
Thanks. I see separate instruments to purchase so that is why I asked.
Their naming conventions are horrible. Standard is not the cheapest level, Stage is. So basically at a minimum, you need to buy Stage. Stage includes all the free instruments (the Kivir instruments as they are called, plus Bells and Carillons) plus 2 paid instruments of your choice. After that you can buy single instruments or upgrades
There is some very good stuff among the free instruments, especially, to my taste, some of the harpsichords and clavichords.
Yeah, thanks for clarifying
I’m pretty sure you have to have at least the stage version, which is the lowest tier.
If Modarrt still have their sale and you use the JRR shop group code you can get Standard (which includes 3 instruments) for not much more than the usual price of Stage (which never goes on sale as far as I can tell).
Not sure that anyone has said it sounds bad though, have they? Just that it would be good to see it continue to improve, as it has every version I have bought. I do think that good sampled instruments currently have the edge, but who knows in another version or two?
If you look online you definitely see some people dissing it, but most of those comments are a bit old now and no longer relevant. If anyone DOES think the instruments sound too sterile, they just need to give the condition slider a nudge to introduce a bit more imperfection. Easy peasy!
You need at least a Stage license, which comes with two instrument packs. At that level, the instruments are fully playable but lack some tweaking options as compared to the Standard and Pro versions:
As I’ve mentioned before, btw, I strongly recommend standard. Most people don’t need the extra features that come with pro, but Standard is a really significant upgrade from Stage and worth having for those who like to really tweak and design sounds
