It reminds me of Moogs app Animoog for iPad - payed 1 (!) dollar for this tremendous synth in 2011 and it stills running good after 12 years!
But, I think the iOS/iPadOS community is accepting higher prices in the future for good stuff (like Pianoteq 8)…
Thank you! Worked even easier than that; just clicked on the files in the Files app and they were automatically loaded and recognized. I was confused because doing it from inside the app didn't work; the Install A New PTQ button led to a directory where there wasn't any content. Many thanks!
Hi! Pianoteq 8 exists in multiple plug-in formats. On Logic Pro on a Mac, you can add it as an Audio Unit. It should work just fine.
If you can connect a keyboard to your iPad, Pianoteq and pretty much every other MIDI app should work right away. You will have to open the MIDI configuration of the app and make sure it is "listening to" your MIDI keyboard.
Another reminder. There’s a free Yamaha CP-80 which is a vintage electric piano available. Sounds lovely for that SuperTramp vibe.
One small clarification: the CP-80 was an electric GRAND piano, with strings, hammers, and a soundboard. It was not an "electric piano" in the sense of a Rhodes or a Wurlitzer or a Hohner. But with the right settings, yes, it can give a sort of Supertramp feel.
The CP-80 was a very rare beast. It was the full 88-key version of the famed CP-70 Electric Grand, and it didn't sell very well because it was even heavier than the CP-70, which was a beast, and the sound of the extra notes wasn't all that great.
You could probably tweak Pianoteq to give you a CP-80 that sounds more consistent than any actual CP-80 ever did... assuming the KiViR research group hasn't already done that.
(If you want Pianoteq to give you "the" Supertramp sound, get the Electric Pianos Pack, which has a Vintage Reeds sound set based on the Wurlitzer 100 and 200/200A, which is THE Supertramp electric piano. There's even a preset called "W2 Logical"!)
Yes. And much loved by folks like Tony Banks (think he actually used the CP-70)
I will have a look for it. I used to own a Wurlitzer and miss the sound.
Been waiting a long time for something of this magnitude to hit iOS! After Gav’s vid and some deep diving, there was no way I wasn’t completing this plugin! Costly but totally worth it!! This thing is STACKED!!
Why doesn’t Modartt sell Yamaha Grand/Upright pianos?
U4 and YC5.... maybe not the U4 but the YC5 is Yamaha themed. infact the YC5 is the most versatile grand they have in my opinion.
Holy shit dude 😂! What did you get, Pro with all the packs?
Yeah. Grabbed Pianoteq Studio (includes Pro, all 21 packs and any new instrument introduced over the next year is included free)
lets gooo!
Have my respect…
Nice! Did you win the lottery haha? That's a lot of cash, enjoy! > @ninobeatz said:
Thanks Gav. Just the advantages of having a GREAT Wife!!
Ok, thanks for quick answer!
The things that confused me was that Modartt using brand names on the other piano IAP, like Steinway, Petrof etc etc…
Perhaps I go for YC5 as next step into Pianoteq…
Ha! Don’t underestimate our women concerning support for expensive hobbies…

How's her sister? 😝

Feels more like she gave up a summer vacation to keep the hubby happy

Have to say, I'm looking forward to listening to some "Creation" posts from @LinearLineman .
Lol, me, too. I hope I still have it. I’m also very interested in how much more expressive the large number of velocity points will couple with the acoustic action of the Kawai Novus I’m getting.
We are looking forward to it.
It looks like Pianoteq has an annual "summer sale" every August (and again for Black Friday). I don't think the basic "Stage" license ever goes on sale, but I might be mistaken. I am tracking sales using AppSliced.
Hmm, I was hoping they’d include upgrade from Stage to Standard in their sales.
I doubt you had a Playel concert piano because there were no Playel concert pianos...
Anyone try Steinway B v Steinway D? I bought the stage version thx to @Montreal_Music s group buy 15% off. Sign up if you’re purchasing.
Mike, you can demo everything yourself. No need to ask anyone's opinion really, as you can try them all, the timer in the demo version allows you to go up to 45 mins at a time as long as you press the 'rewind' button enough times.
