Bram, congrats for release! Hilda feels like Ripplemaker big brother sister in every possible way. Tuned OSC, wavefolding and FM sound delicious, sequncer with randomizing and mutations useful as always. Wanna compare it to mighty Aalto in terms of sound, feels like they're on a par, which is fucking fantastic.
By the way, here's an interesting advanced method for layering Hilda with other synths, by combining the MIDI OUT and the EXTERNAL INPUT:
Btw is it possible to fix fm ratio?
mini melodic techno jam with two instances of hilda for bass and aroeggio, supported by NS pad and drums
love how it sounds, just wish it was polyphonic - i can see huge potential for chords and pads - @brambos any chance ? even for the peice of high cpu load
Wow, you did all that since launch this morning? Great work!
Hilda is really far more simpler to use for you than Model 15. For Model D most of people use the preset no problem for a noobs.
Hilda will provide the fun and you will learn very quickly how to create good sound design. Once you got that you would enjoy Model 15 an other way.
Thanks bud
during last hour, officially i am working but couldn’t resist lol :-)))
thanks:) hilda is highly inspirative, love the realtime twwaking with “touch sensors” that was really great idea, when i will have more time will connect ipad version with my elektron gear for some live jamming
impressive work with oscillatoes/shapers/filter - sounds really like hw analog … you’re Boss :-)
That was the first thing I tried! Very fun. When I have time I’ll see how to record their modulation. It’s a very cool concept, I mean it could look like a plain old knob, but these little things make the experience so much fun.
Or this can be some NSA ninja shit and @brambos is collecting all our fingerprints for later hacking into our devices and buying all his apps. Tinfoil hats aside, if that was the plan then joke’s on him, I already own pretty much all of them 😎
@brambos
it doesnt work on my old iPad Air 1, iOS 12.5.7
black screen...:(
is this fixable !?
thnx
Nice! You can actually hook up the Live touch-pads to external controllers, because their parameters are exposed; so that could open up some more unusual ways to tweak them.
Yeah I presumed they were momentary patching points like the Strega until I read the manual so was trying to connect two or three for a while 🤣
I'm sure it should be fixable, but it will be difficult to test because my oldest test device is an Air 2.
Have you tried a restart of the iPad to see if that makes it work?
I can't think of anything that should prevent an Air 1 from running at least one instance without issues.
Are you running it standalone or in a host?
could open up some more unusual ways to tweak them.
yeah noticed that, giga smart !
Ah, momentary would be another cool thing. I’m guessing Bram would use a circuit symbol for a switch or something, though.
One thing I love about ripplemaker (one of many), is that you slide an existing connection jack away without releasing it, you immediately hear the sound engine running without that connection, you can A/B and decide if you leave it plugged or not. Makes patch designing such a hands on approach
It’s very kind of you to assume we know what we’re doing ; )
I just discovered this! I have been p-locking them with Drambo’s sequencer.
@brambos
standalone starts with black screen
and after a while a text message says to restart the ipad so the auv3 will work
but I restart it and it does the same ...
and the auv3 wont load in AUM...
if you can fix it - it would be grand
still using that old iPad...
thnx
Hopefully we can expect to see it in an upcoming video 👀
Just gotta say @brambos you've really outdone yourself. Hilda is insane win. As others others said, it’s basically a hardware synth on iOS in sound and feel. Absolutely loving it.
Wow, that's high praise!
Could you please email me the crash-log (if there is one for Hilda)? Then I can perhaps see where the issue is?
There are no features that require a specific piece/generation of hardware, so I really have no idea why an Air 1 wouldn't run it. But it's difficult to test without the device at hand, obviously.
Heavens above, this thing has a built in time warp or something. Barely started playing with it and over an hour has just gone in a blink.
This is happily living up to expectations!
Thank you, @brambos !
This is really a very old IPad , certainly among the oldest that people have in this forum. Proof that Apple do solid state IPad to last so long 😂 but OS are limited on Apple support updates. Usually apps dev doesn’t support IPad Air 1 for new released IOS apps. I can understand that you love it but you would be more and more limited to do music with it.
This thing is bonkers. I love that it invokes some of the alternative hardware experimentation we’ve seen so much of recently, rather than following the often repeated conventional architectures. This is going to open up needed territory. Thanks so much.
try reboot your iPad, this apple auv3 initialisation process sometimes fails and iPad reboot is needed to fix it
Hilda: noun. a female given name: from a Germanic word meaning “maid of battle.”
A portable 0-coast + Strega.
Nice!
By the way....if anyone is concern about optimization....
20 AU instances with 20 fx au instances.
oh don’t be so modest. I just understood the signal chain of basic oscillayor> @mistercharlie said:
Oh so modest!!!
Yea you guys know what you’re doing compared to me. I’m a new iOS wannabe producer and some of you are the real deal and some are pro musicians who know what each thing does, and I’m just learning now.
But from the reactions and the unique profile of this app I think I’m gonna to bite. I like that people say it’s a little of each type of synth, and I want to see what they mean
It looks amazing, sounds amazing and it shouldn’t be harder than a model 15 as was pointed out so count me in too
Can’t wait to try it out
Yes!! @hainbach Please do a hainbaching ios video!
@brambos
I guess its not about the hardware
its more about old iOS
