Logic Remote may help…. A lot.. 😑
Edit… if implemented..
It is a really new iOS GUI responsive redesign when you co pare to the Desktop one.
Oof that Facebook demo looks nice. Even more excited now.
Let’s face it, the subscription is peanuts for Apple. The big money maker for them will be in device upgrades - they’ve been miffed users are keeping their devices for years longer than they’d like, so this is a great incentive for us to upgrade.
Performance wise there is no issue with my iPad Pro 12.9 Gen 2. Works just fine. Looks like it won't make the LPX cut due to processor even though its performance is very similar to base level A12 chip.
I would rather not upgrade but we are were we are.

If Apple cared about money for software they have never ever been selling Logic Pro for Mac for 200 bucks - also, give ten years of free upgrades!
Apple could, if they want, give Logic Pro for iPad free to all customers, but, Apple don’t want to scare away other developers/companies on Appstore - they together with Apple have made iPad ecosystem great (a lot of envy from the Android community)…
Yeah. I could happily squeeze a few more years out of this Air 4, but for running LP I’d like a bigger screen, and since the 64gb drive is already full, I’ll need an iPad with more storage too.
The proof of the pudding will be running the trial when it drops, I can then make an informed decision on what I need to upgrade to, or if I actually need/want to.
Imagine the size of the thread that will be generated when this thing actually drops, lol
Wonder how many will actually read the manual!
And how long will it take until the feature requests roll in 😄
This is very true. They have full control when you need to buy a new device once you are stuck in the subscription loop. But maybe they allow at least the installation of older versions then?
LOL. You like your manuals
I don't think they can get too greedy with that. Good ipads are really fucking expensive devices. If apple thinks they can make someone buy a new Pro every few years just to have access to logic and fcp on their ipads they will have a waves style mutiny on their hands for sure. This kind of thing would be the perfect incentive for ableton, bigwig and others to step in and steal their customer base by being less greedy and not caring about hardware sales.
a new iteration of Apple's
device upgrade - software update - device upgrade - software update - device upgrade...rinse repeat, world without end amen
I've been on the hamster wheel since 2010, fourth ipad, fifth iphone. And so it goes.
I've read thru the full manual for the desktop version of Logic Pro at least a couple of times over the years...
...not in one go though as it's quite huge
I still reference it from time to time when my memory fails me.
Up-To-Date PDFs Manuals are here...
https://support.apple.com/guide/logicpro/welcome/mac
It's at least a good start to get the grips of the scope of things to come...
With each new screenshot and/or video it's starting to feel closer to Logic. Still very curious to see how it will deal with all the menu's, shortcuts and modifiers, along with which features will not make the grade.
Speaking of the Logic manual, here's a huge tutorial based on the entire Logic 10.6 manual. It's a slightly older version, as LP is currently on 10.7, but much of the underlying framework remains the same. Of course, it will differ from the impending iOS version, but much seems like it might translate.
Also, I doubt it'll take much time for MusicTech Help Guy and Why Logic Pro Rules to squeeze out LPiOS tutorials
Just waiting for the Manuals for the iPad LogicPro leak from somewhere...
...it will be an interesting read for sure! (I love to be 'prepared' when I 'dig in').
I'm wondering if you can start a project on Mac and then progress it on iPad?
We'll have to wait and see but as long as you use plug-ins present on both platforms it is likely doable.
All we know is that we need Logic 10.7.8 for the compatibility with the iPad version and that update is not out yet...
tried for the fun of it to open a garageband project with drambo and moog auv3 in logic, works well and loads the auv's. If it could load the auv2/vst counterparts of the auv3, that could have been great. Like bleass stuff.
Anyone has bleass synths auv2/vst ? Does it have preset import? Cant find it in the demo.
Dived to logic again ( like many if you )
Its such an archaic program, compared to live, but has some very cool stuff. Like the logic remote which is "dynamic" and changes according to the track youre on and stuff.
Many things are pain , like audio to midi, many basic things are many clicks away.
Anyway already moved all my "in proccess" works to logic 😂
Apple promise 2-way project compatibility. Someone else mentioned the idea of there perhaps being something like automatic bounce-down or freeze for non-Apple plugins. That would seemingly be a great solution.
Sincere apologies to @Lady_App_titude We clearly hold very different ideas about this whole situation, but in the tussle I think we ended up talking past each other. I'll take responsibility for that. Anyway, trying to steer clear of arguments, past the point of trying to clearly state my own position. Certainly don't want to accuse others of having intentions that they may not actually have.
I'll extend this apology to anyone else who felt my replies in this thread could've been seen as gate-keeping.
Cheers.
I can't wait for May 23 to arrive.
Not to get my hands on Logic Pro, but just so people stop making new threads about the app...
I'm now thinking the sub is a sensible move from Apple, because after the hype dies down they'll have no refunds to deal with
LOL.
I’ll admit, I’m a little bit excited for the psychological implosion that will occur when the subscription cheerleaders realize the app still crashes.
No, Logic Pro for iPad is NOT a hype, it’s an revolution in the iPad software market, a new level reached…
Try Digital Performer, it's even more archaic, still the only daw I literally couldn't figure out.
