WWDC 2023 - What to expect today?

Just less than four hour before Tim Cook will open the 2023 years WWDC in Palo Alto…

The release of iPadOS 17 beta 1 is exciting, and for me, I really wants the features with real external monitor support (without black borders) and in the same time, possibilities to close our iPad when running external screens…

Also, hope for a better Files app.

What’s your expectations of a new update to 17.0 on iPad?

  • I'm hoping to see a game changing VR/AR headset. It's the only thing I'm interested in.

  • MBA 15”, Mac Studio M2 Ultra, Apple Reality (Pro). Ive just went to the Apple Store website and it says it’s temporary under construction. This happened before and it’s an indicator that Apple is updating the Store with new products.

  • I missed to mention yet another features that I like to be added to iPadOS 17, and that’s a real mouse pointer, not a circle, a real arrow mouse pointer…

  • I expect to want to watch it, completely forget as I either take a nap or engross myself in music, and then come back here to catch the highlights minus the narcissistic circle-jerk of "oh how great we are" from Apple. 🤣

When they introduce something new, it’s usually well-earned. The competition copies Apple for a reason.

Hahaha good one. That circle seems like a dis to iPadOS — treating it like a kindergarten OS or something.

True, they always do copy Apple for the most part. However, Android tablets always came with a stylus while it took Apple a few years before they released their 1st gen Apple Pencil. ;) That said, well-earned or not, I don't want to spent 40-50 minutes hearing them boast just to glean 10-15 minutes accumulated of actually useful information. 😂

  • Bravery.

Yes. I wonder what else they can remove.

I don’t know if it’s true to characterize Apples competitors as copycats without acknowledging that apple is very rarely the first to market with devices.

In fact, which device did Apple make that wasn’t already done before?

I would say Apple is in the business of Better vs First.

Ericsson was using mobile phones already in the 1950th in Stockholm City, Sweden…
In very rare cases the famous/most successful company in history was first with a product, but, they took known technology and made it better, and, most important, made it attractive for a big amount of customers…

  • I remember when the first iPhone dropped. An absolute game changer. Took a lot of existing technology’s and melded them into a single slick device. I’m hoping that Apple will once again do the same with VR.

    For me, a 16” iPad Pro M3 with 32GB RAM and a 5k screen…

I’ll have the whole thing playing on my TV and if anything comes on not interesting to me I’ll just pay attention to something else for a minute or two. 👍

Yeah. About that headphone jack… I can’t see it ever happening. I’m hoping they invent a almost latency free Bluetooth technology that uses the existing stuff so we don’t have to buy new kit.

Remember, this is a conference for developers. Better to be prepared for no new hardware announcements and if any do appear you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Looks like i can't buy anything on the site so could be something hardware related...? maybe just price adjustments?

Perhaps price adjustments down, not up?

Tim Cook has recently lower his salary with 50% (from $80.000.000 to tiny $40.000.000), so, this may go to price cuts 😂😂😂

This is an interesting teaser (in the Apple TV+ app). “A new era”? That definitely sounds like Apple Reality is getting its debut.

    “A new era of emojis!”

Ha! Even with their usual hyperbolic announcements I can’t recall anything sounding quite so grandiose from them since the first Mac was announced.

    Two more hours to go…

Does anyone remember when they’ve taken the store down without releasing a new Hw product? Not saying they haven’t just genuinely curious.

I’d be surprised if we don’t hear more about Logic updates to Mac, iPad OS > @NeuM said:

Good catch. If I had to bet, I’d say it tips off what we’ve heard about MR. However it could also just be a new SDK kit for Apple TV.

Yes, I think it’s likely the SDK will be available before the hardware.
