    The automatically transcribe audio messages?!?

    How?
    Where?
    Why?
    Can it be disabled?

Obviously. All of these features are optional.

Yep. I've got 2 teenage kids. A very useful new feature.

The new Macs are so beyond anything I want to do. I can happily run Ableton and a bunch of plugins on my M1 Mini, do graphics, design, whatever. Even my Intel 16” MBP will keep me happy for another 5 years.

    I guess if I was a video producer, but…

Yeah, for video, engineering, animation, etc.

Even then though - my 16gb M1 Mini is the fastest computer I’ve ever owned. I’m pretty certain it’d cope with a bit of video editing or animation. If I was making an actual professional film I’d probably want better kit, but for 99% of most people’s uses it’d do the job.

Saying that I wouldn’t mind a bigger iPad if they bring a new Air out…

WWDC23 Notes (all times in CST)

12pm - While waiting for the event to start, they're playing boring generic music. I'd rather listen to Coldplay.

1201pm - A fruity bubble ad that I guess is supposed to be funny and endearing?

1203pm - Oh dear, let Timmy's circlejerk and bragging begin. 😆 Be still my gag reflux.

1204pm - "Biggest announcements ever at this year's WWDC"? Isn't that every year though? 😴

1205pm - Oh, a bigger Macbook Air. I bet it'll cost the same price as a used car. 🤣 But then again I bet 15.3" would be perfect for running Mac's Logic Pro and seeing what you're doing on it. Nice battery life too.

1207pm - Oh I know PC sucks compared to Macs. You're not telling me anything new here since I haven't bothered with Windows ever since Files was introduced. 😂

1209pm - Oh wow, the 13 inch Macbook Air is now $100 cheaper. What a real generous price reduction. /sarcasm 🤣

1210pm - Mac Studio is rather cool. Nice to see that updated.

1212pm - Okay, starting to become bored. 😴

1214pm - Mac Pro with Apple Silicon, nice! This makes me tempted to get one just for the virtual street cred. 😆 Kidding, kidding. But all those ports would be rather cool, especially the audio ports. $6999 is too expensive for my broke self though, lol.

1217pm - Oh geez, more circle jerking from good ol' Timmy. Please shut up and get onto the next topic.

    1218pm - FINALLY! iOS!

1219pm - Personalised contact posters in the phone app. BORING! Oh shut up.

1220pm - Okay, live voicemail is actually a nice feature. It can tell me when I can be faffed to answer my cousin or not, lol.

1221pm - Leaving a message via Facetime? Couldn't we already do something similar in Messages?

1222pm - Speaking of Messages, search filters. Wow, how exciting. 😴

1222pm - Transcribing voice messages? Actually that's a good addition, no sarcasm this time.

1223pm - Uh oh, more tracking features. 🤣 "Your loved ones will have your back". Sure, and I'm sure Apple will have your back too, right?

1224pm - Who cares about stickers? Ugh, yawn. 😴 Oh please don't bother me about how you make stickers.

1226pm - NameDrop. 😴💀 I wouldn't mind dropkicking Craig out that bloody window.

1228pm - Oh my goodness, a "transformer input model". Boring, but still more thrilling than I predict the latest Transformers movie will be.

1230pm - "Relive special moments"? "AI journalling", lol hahaha. 🤣 Oh dear. At least they talked somewhat about productivity regarding the new Macbook Airs, Mac Studios, and Mac Pros, but so far iOS 17 announcements have been a waste of time.

1233pm - "Standby" is actually the most interesting iOS 17 announcement so far. Sad.

1235pm - That's it for iOS 17? What a load of bollocks. Nothing to do with productivity.

1236pm - iPadOS!! Okay, now I'm excited. Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro!!! Lets go!!!

1237pm - Oh, widgets. Controlling lights and music. Yay.

1238pm - I couldn't care less about customising my lock screen, mate. Sod off.

-Well, while slogging through this chaff, I will say that he mentioned Logic Pro was rebuilt from the ground up for iPad. Did you lot catch that? That explains why not all Logic Pro features were added off the jump.

1239pm - Oh wow, you can keep track of multiple timers on the lock screen. What a real step forward. /sarcasm

1240pm - Health app. I feel my mental health suffering more and more as we go along in this WWDC23.

Forget this. I've endured 40 minutes for largely nothing really. 🤮 I knew that aside from some interesting Mac announcements this would be a waste of time. Tell me when something actually interesting happens.

(All of the sarcasm isn't meant to be taken seriously.)

  • macOS Sonoma!

I keep telling people, you should experience these presentations with no expectations. You set yourself up for disappointment based on rumors.

As far as I’m concerned, new versions of macOS and iPadOS are already enough.
