I’ve reported a total of 40 bugs to KV331 for the major version of SM ONE for iPad app and the major version of SM2 app before. This is the highest number of bugs I have reported to a software developer(s). Since I was new to reporting bugs, they were daunting tasks. However, this is not to say that reporting the bug was very difficult. It was only a little hard, because 40 bugs did not appear at the same time. (However, I am mentally burned out because reporting bugs gives me headaches. Besides I was also stressed email address and password were not automatically entered to log into KV331 website. But it may be necessary for security purposes. Or maybe those will be auto-filled if I log in with PC instead of iPad.)

On the other hand, when I tried the beta version of the ‘pre-launch’ ButterSynth app before, I found it to be a very hard task.
I found it would crash at unpredictable times for a user, in other words, by very common operations. (e.g., selecting something from a menu).
The difficulty of debugging a ‘pre-launch’ synth app beta and a ‘post-launch’ synth app beta is probably very different. I gave up testing the beta version of the pre-launch ButterSynth app after reporting two or three bugs. It was beyond my ability and capacity. (So I respect beta testers of the beta version of the pre-launch DAW apps and Host apps and all other apps.)

When the pre-launch beta testing of SM3 (PC and iOS/iPadOS versions) begins, developers and beta testers might have a very tough time. It might be 1000 times harder than what I’ve experienced regarding bug reports. (I don’t mean that there is a problem with the developers of KV331. Because almost all of the bugs I reported were fixed. So they are excellent. I mean I am afraid of all pre-release beta apps, except for the ported versions.) I show my respect to all of them.

  • I have SM 1 and 2 and I don’t even remotely use them enough to justify buying version 3 unless is really different and can do things the others don’t and more importantly doesn’t sound just like the 1st two.

  • I hope to hear back from them. And even if a reply comes, I hope that it will not be a simple fixed form.

I have already given up on expecting support from KV331 Audio.

    My thoughts exactly.

  • Will release on Mac, Windows and iOS. Expected release date is by the end of February 2024

Is it releasing on all 3 simultaneously?

  • As far as I know, SynthMaster 3 will release on all platforms simultaneously.

  • You have 4 layers with each their own oscillators and fx group. You can combine up to 256 oscillators (!!). It’s also possible to just layer 4 different presets. Workflow is similar to SM2.

    Cool. Thanks!

When it's released in the 4th quarter, it can only mean October to December 2024, as the 4th quarter of 2023 is already over.

The 4th quarter was meant for 2023. The original post is from June 2023.

    Predicting timelines is hard.

  • It will struggle to cut through on desktop. It’s a very crowded market.

Personally speaking, I’ll be saving for The Legend HZ and will give SM3 a miss.

Are there already available sceenshots from UI ? Curious how it was improved, still want to start using this synth cause sound engine is really great but UI of 1&2 prevents me from do it ..

  • Will it have iOS version or will it be iPad only like SM2?

  • @HotStrange @dendy I did post it here in it’s own thread, but it sank without a trace more or less😂
Anyway, please bear in mind that this is still the Alpha Version.

KV331 Audio also made a much more detailed tutorial covering the new features.

  • This type of synth isn't conductive to ipad music for me, too complicated and the porting from desktop is painfully obvious. Regret getting SM2 really, it's been replaced with Tera Pro for my complex synth slot.

  • Today KV331 announced first official beta version of Synthmaster v3.
There's an demo version to download for both Mac & Windows, both VST and AU.

Sounds great - a lot to program in that synth!

The price is still 69 bucks, and, for that you also get an license for Synthmaster 2.x

LOL... I'm not paying anything for a beta. Test it, then sell it. Who are they kidding?

And Tera Pro seems to be the better synth than SM2 anyways as @tekk pointed out. And I can use Tera Pro on my iPhone as well, although sometimes I just want to pull out Bleass Monolit and make sounds with that.

Why pay before SM3 get into retail version?
Just play around with the beta version and get you a serious take on everything…

    Hmmm...

With all respect to mr/mss tekk, but, to compare Tera Pro (really great synth) with Synthmaster 3, that's a joke...
Virsyn makes awesome products, but, not on the level of KV331audio...

  • early 2024?

It’s almost here, and the current beta version is stable for me, so, nothing to wait on any longer…
