  • I’ve often wondered if Drambo could support skins in some way. It’s a fairly basic ui with lots of repeated components.

I for one would happily pay a Drambo iap for a skin that made it look more like Combustor @giku_beepstreet 🙏

  • This looks soo nice and clean that i buy it no matter what it does lol 🤣

What about the colours that connect modules?

    lfos, midi.

Would you forgo better module identification, for colour modules?

Isn't that a major justification for iOS app purchases in general? 😉

It also sounds much more methodical than the ABF default "INSTABUUUUUUUY!!!!!" war cry.

    Precisely that 🫡

I reckon you could still have both. Doesn’t have to be exactly like this, there’s just something about these knobs with the subtle shadows that looks great to me.

I’m proud of that war cry, it’s releasing me of guilt. Telling the world “I’m appoholic and I don’t care”, so I can spend more. 😂

    Sure

but Drambo uses colour to define the inputs and outputs.

Seperate lfos send the colour. So you know what lfo is what lfo.

Theres probably not a better way to make this easier.

    Even if making basic connections.

  • Dont worry.

I were even saying to make Drambo like this app.

    Forgetting how Drambo works.

Like others said that would break the color coding. The way I see it I would rather have the ability to make custom overlays only for the performance part. Underlying it would work the same, but if you entered overlay mode for a module then you would exit connection mode. Like you can now collapse racks and decide what elements to show, but more diverse visually.

Almost like a fake AU that only worked in drambo

I dont even use modules anyway but can see why synth building would be good, with x amount of lfos to any parameter.

Remaking modules would also need to look ok, with the rest of app,

    The sequencer etc.

Without modules being same colour as sequencer.

  • If you look closely at Drambo’s modules, the dark colour is a very dark colour of the connection colour. I would keep this but make it a bit less dark and use the black knobs from combustor, then go from there.

I’d mock it up but I just have no spare time atm

First time I noticed that and I spent many hours looking at drambo

Drambo should use classic modular cables to indicate signal flow, that wouls be SOO much better than what is there now , just random mess of all kinds of colors … Not needed to reinvent wheel, for modular system cables just works, nothing better than that .. at least as optional possibility.. for examole for colorblind people is Drambo basically unusable …

    Maybe.

    Havent really made anything modular

So dont know the complexity needs.

but it dosent seem like mirack modules anyway.

Cant see how auto connecting is more messy than connecting all modules and then to the output.

I guess it can still auto connect but as I say. Not sure if its like mirack. Is the signal flow the same. Does patching make it so?

What about synths with a matrix. Should there just be cables instead?

You cant really make an app for colour blind people, if its worse for everyone else.

    ( If )

What about synths with a matrix. Should there just be cables instead

That is different story.. matrix view with list of slots, every slot with source/target is something very different.. that traditional and very clean way how to show all routings at one place.

Cant see how auto connecting is more messy than connecting all modules and then to the output.

Both autoconnecting and cables can work together, especially in Drambo’s case - like in Reason - it autoconnects and just works, but if you want you can just swich to “back” view to see cables and go wild .. even in Drambo i can see how there may be just some switch, to make cables visible, somyou can quickly see signal flow and eventually reconnect things.

Thing is - i doesn’t see reason to use Drambo for simple things - for that just classic synths with fixed strucrure are much better for me.. but every time i tried use it for something more complex- to really utilise it’s modularity and set of powerful modules - i just got lost in signal flow after a while. And i tried many times cause i really wanted to love Drambo !!

Anyway.. there is lot people who like Drambo so maybe it’s just me. Cables are main reason why for modular approach miRack hosted in DAW always wins for me.

yes, I even very like and almpst love Drambo…. but its great to hear similar about miRack! in true Drambo was a reason for me to buy an ipad (switched from iphone to ipad) … and generally speaking to sell 100% of my hardware synths/samplers and effects (plus cables and more)….
now with a lot empty inputs and outputs in left interface, but with better and faster usage of Drambo, I like this total recall / modularity and full spectrum of different apps.

    So, Drambo update? ❤️
new app Combustor…. yes, it can be helpful to add „body” I hope to the sound. cheers

    Cool, Dendy.

    Havent used DAWs.

    Apart from some DAW stuff.

Drambo made a groovebox with maybe more features, than most DAWs.

Fwiw I really liked the combo of @giku_beepstreet ‘s colours and @echoopera ‘s tweak, both the font and the ‘wob’. Gives the whole thing the look of real hardware, somehow. Back in my publishing days ‘wobbing’ (‘white out of black’) a background element to allow it to stand out without overwhelming the main attraction was a daily part of the design language of the mag.

    Holy cow, instant Vitalic-izer.

  • ❤️❤️❤️

  • wow. nice.

  • I think I drooled a little. Wish this was desktop available. Or had something similar.

  • Not for me, but I can certainly hear how this will become a new standard for a lot of people.

  • Oh yeah. Looking forward to this.
