Korg Gadget Update 1.0.3 is out!
YAY!
Comments
Abu Dhabi sampler with included loop slicer looks wicked from the screenshot in the app. So does the one shot sample -sampler Bilbao (which also expands the London drum module). Definitely insta purchase. Pricing seems pretty decent when looking at these new Gadgets. They seem very full fledged (when compare to some other Gadgets). Anyway, automatic loop slicing ala recycle = yay. Awesome work Korg!
Landscape mode which should make a lot of folks happy.
No ability to share projects.
But lots of chances to spend more money.

I haven't tried it yet but are you sure about that? It has export to Dropbox, Audio copy, something called Ableton Live project.
Edit: and it appears you can pick which track you want to export
Will probably get these - but would love to hear comments on how the 2 sampler slicer gadgets work....anyone?
Do the new gadgets allow for importing of just one sample per gadget? Or can they work like London or Amsterdam and load a few different ones?
I haven't got it yet. But I'm gonna assume they mean that the Bilbao don't do multi-samples (like multi sampled pianos for example). And it's drum oriented with pads, so you'll most likely be able to assign any sample you have in your import library to any pad.
On the IS store looks like is on sale:

Downloading...
A little disappointed because I'm not much of a sample guy and it sounds like BOTH machines are samplers. But you can do a lot of things with samplers, ranging from beats to chords to effects hits. Will be curious how "open" it is with imports.
But the rest of it sounds pretty good. Landscape mode was the #1 request and we have it now.
What does "Export audio any way you like" mean? And the MIDI improvements?
As far as importing, it's looking like ACP or Dropbox.

Not sure what landscape gonna bring here, except making the app dock compatible.
You can export audio to Dropbox, as Ableton Live project (not sure what that does exactly as I don't have Ableton), AudioCopy and to GadgetCloud/your soundcloud. Don't see any dedicated stem export options.
All the devices have MIDI learn for their thangs now. When in a gadget, you can bring up a popup with the gadgets controllers/CCs.
Wishlist item Nr 1 for the next update: proper undo function. C'mon Korg
Midi learn doesn't work with my OP-1. Values just jump from one end of the range to the other.
You can export each track separately. I just exported one track to Dropbox and it was very quick.
Yea you're right! When you choose your export option (Dropbox, audio copy/paste etc), you can now choose Master or each track separately. Really cool, and will come in handy!
Not up for me in the US store on my iPad, but I was able to download it through iTunes.
New workflow with Ableton Live?! Like the sound of that as a Live user.
Really psyched for this update!
EDIT: Okay don't quote me on that Live workflow, it was listed on the iTunes update page, but it's not in the description.
Big update, hope they add Audio Tracks next and IAA with better integration of AudioBus.
Landscape mode is pretty nicely done. For the Gadget screen the added space on the sides has the master mixer control on the left, and the gadget mixer control on the right. I was wondering how they were going to handle that.
@1P18 It can export gadget projects as Live projects to Dropbox. I exported as Live. And the project folder on Dropbox contained 2 folders, one with the rendered track scenes from gadget, and the other was empty I think, and an .ALS file (which I assume is the Live project file extension?)
MIDI is a minimum enhancement. The big deal is external sync. The big disappointment is promiscuous omni in. Audiobus input slot is now supported too.
@dwarman You are now able to control all the controllers inside a gadget via MIDI, w. MIDI learn. Not exactly a "minimum" enhancement. How the midi and selected gadget works hasn't change. The Gadget you select in the mixer view (the small LED light/button above the gadget) will receive midi (alternatively the gadget u got open).
Audiobus was added 6 months ago I believe

Sweet! It's there. Yeah .als is the Live file extension, and you can export a Live Project to iTunes as well. I'm going to test this now...
Freakin' awesome. When you import the .als file into Live you're clips get imported into Live's session mode. It even names the clips for you based on what name you've assigned in Gadget (drum, pad, etc.).
Bilbao sampler let's you import via ACP or Dropbox, and is pretty straight forward beyond that, and has the same effects sends as other Gadgets. Kind of cool it has a small wave display for the samples, and even shows when you change the length or start point. It has a total of 32 new kits, including a kung fu kit complete with kung fu sound effects.
Looking into Abu Dhabi now, and it looks like it can do some things...
Okay Abu Dhabi is a nice little addition. It's a loop slicer. It let's you control the marker positions, then for each slice you can change the pitch, attack, decay, reverse. It also has a repeat function for each slice, with different tempos to choose from. Then it has an arp function for the slice playback. For the effects it has an XY pad rather than the dials you see on other gadgets. For import you can use ACP or Dropbox, just like Bilbao. It comes with 53 kits.

Live screenshot, works amazingly well!
Ableton .ALS export is going to turn an awful lot of heads, many of which may not have paid attention to iPads for music. I'm gonna stick it in the 'big deal' column. Well played @korg product team.
Gadget shot of the same song:

Gotta admit, $9.99 for each new Gadget is twice as expensive as I was expecting but I'll definitely be getting Bilbao at least.
Also, is it just me or did they fix the bug with the limiter causing ringing distortion on low end frequencies? I gave a few of my projects a quick listen and when I switched the limiter on I didn't hear the ringing.
Landscape mode, Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi XY effects pad, Bilbao with sample length shortened.
