Incidentally, I am getting some of the most remarkable sounds I think I've ever gotten out of a synth with Dagger, @giku_beepstreet. This synthesis model is incredible.
Ah, thanks. Some labels are needed on the UI layout to explain that.
Would be cool if we had a large user patch thing going on like we did with Hilda.
@giku_beepstreet If it's at all possible, I'd like to be able to export a single patch instead of all patches in a folder. Maybe just have that as a multiple choice when tapping on the export patch button? "Export Selected Patch" or "Export Folder"?
I know, I know, you said no. But I couldn’t resist doing a mockup…
This is rough obviously…
what a big fat filter. incredible
fx version pleasse 🤤
Made a quick Dagger experiment with some patches I made today. This is one fun synth that makes creating interesting sounds fast and easy. Everything except for the drums are Dagger and I added a few effects on some of the tracks.
You should continue work on it and expand it - sounds pretty good, but maybe on the short side.
Thanks. This was just a test to see how easy it would be to get together some usable sounds and put them in a song snippet. I'll definitely be using this for other work. The sounds are phenomenal, in my opinion and I created more than 30 patches today.
I can’t imagine the OP was suggesting that it’s manual reading OR tweaking? (I.e. false dichotomy)
Informed tweaking is usually more fruitful than tweaking alone … how is less information going to help us get to grips with anything?
I’m glad to see BeepStreet is still making synths! The original Sunrizer was the first iOS synth I got, along with the original Magellan. It must have been around 2012.
I couldn’t believe I could get sounds like that out of an iPhone. I’m looking forward to trying Dagger.
You don’t always need to come to grips with everything. Just go with the flow man. I hate to sound like a hippie, but there it is. Gotta find a way to activate your zen zone.
Nah, I like to come to grips with everything. I also like to flow. There I go again, busting out of other people’s boxes 😬
Agreed, every app needs a manual. I thought there is one for this, no?
It definitely sounds very unique. Can’t wait to get paid so I can finally dive into it myself.
Another bit of playing around with Dagger on two of the tracks in this very short piece:
Great job on mockup, love when people express their thoughts visually so we can make clear conclusions on rough ideas. 🤩
With this mockup, you completely backed up @giku_beepstreet statement, intensifying module colors diminish small connection color circles, even worse, some background now juxtapose connectors ( on ‘midi to cv’ green connector looks like yellow, on ‘euclidean 2’ yellow connector looks like green, and so on).
Regarding white marks on the knobs, never use 100% white, it burns through eyes. Especially when it is on black bgr. I really dislike this on the Dagger Synth too, better don’t know how it looks like with my astigmatism. 😅
I dunno, I kinda like it. All I did was copy paste the knobs from Dagger, added some shadows and sloppily changed the background colours in procreate, which messed with the connector colours indiscriminately too, which is why they’ve shifted. Connector colours could be sorted with a black stroke around them.
Still, not my app, and to each their own. But I would definitely switch to this skin if it was available. I’ve never really liked how Drambo modules look, and instantly fell in love with the look and feel of combustor.
I’m with you on the 100% white too - I have astigmatism in both eyes 😂
Nice, I like the look of this too, I really struggle with the connection colours anyway, they might work better for me if they were almost day glo, but it always takes a few back and forth glances to establish, and then I’m never sure anyway and often end up tapping and checking directly…
I got a coroidal neo vascularisation, tecently and astigmatism ( about a + 9.00 ) prescription.
If I lost my glasses during the apocolypse. I may as well just sit in a gutter, saying the end is nigh.
The neo warping is probably how your eye deals with light. Like eyes in general.
Had to refund a load of synths.
Kept dagger and hilda.
I think bland monocrome is best with some colour as needed. As a DAW.
An app can be any single colour with black knobs.
Might just be me but having a multi coloured cockpit in a plane isnt ideal.
As a painting its nice
but not when your brain has to deal with technicalities.
Especially if you move modules around.
Why did you not decide to give a module a colour instead of different colours for the same module?
If the euclidean were alocated a colour. A reverb alocated a colour.
You would associate colour with a module.
Cool effort though.
Absolutely LOVE this .. it would maybe even drag me back to playing with Drambo again Fantastic !
This plus visible cables for connections 😇 I know it’s just dream, but .. man can dream ..
When I decorate my room.
Its always multi coloured.
Never monochrome or matching colours.
+1
Could work for synth building though. If a module is a defined colour but I just host auv3 and effects.
It would be weird if making synths were better with coloured modules but hosting is better as it is now.
You would probably just leave as is now because theres a picture window for the different auv3s.
Could it work as a multicolour for synth building but how it is now for hosting ?
Why do only people who don’t use Drambo want to change that ingeniously crafted GUI design? No cables and how Drambo connect modules are a unique and fantastic solution. We already have miRack, please don’t make Drambo to be miCRack 2.
I understand for old people like @dendy, 😉 he used to work with cables in sparsely lighted rooms without internet connection and espresso coffee. But I don't understand young modern ones.
BTW, I don’t blame anyone, after all, I’m the guy who wears sandals with socks in the summer. 🤪
That’s a bummer, I sympathize with you. Your time with the iPad is everything but easy.
Different colors per every module is a must because of the connection process.
That must be a joke about cables. Regarding dagger - hell knows but it seems the first software synth (for my hearing) that actually sounds like hardware 303 in terms of punch. Especially when you drive it heavily with distortion. Wow
I’ve heard a few demos, but I’m curious what people think Dagger Synths strengths are in terms of types of sounds? Basses/Leads, or can it do pads, keys, plucks, etc just as well?
I guess I’m asking what types of sounds is Dagger Synth really good at making?
