So much good advice in this thread regarding personal growth and Psy Trance production. I listened to that 2023 mix @dendy posted, and yeah. While the concept of a kick and bassline is simple, there is so much else going on sonically that it boggles the mind! I tried to listen to AVB's take on Psy Trance, and it just feels...lacking in sonic depth and complexity. A shell of what actual Psy Trance is, at least in my subjective personal opinion.
But man, going back home from work listening to that mix was just sublime! That is driving music right there, lol. So what I need to do is listen to more of it and start to get a better feel for it. I used to listen to old school Psy Trance as a teen like Infected Mushroom and such, but it has definitely evolved beyond that.
So yeah, when I'm ready to do so, I'm going to start a new thread about "How To Produce Psy Trance", my usual "what's this" and "what's that" type of questions, asking for tutorial vids, interviews with prominant producers, etc. Right now is my "listening and absorbing" phase, much like how I started listening to Lofi religiously at the end of October/beginning of November last year, and then in mid-November creating a thread about how to produce Lofi and becoming so good at it I have a couple rappers paying for my beats, lol.
Thank you mate. That means a lot. Yeah, even though I was stuck for three weeks to a month, I've not only experienced musical growth but personal growth as well. And now I'm listening to Psy Trance to absorb it and then learn all the details and such in a couple weeks' time.
Reading it is easy as we use the same alphabet with a few extra accents added. Understanding it though...😄
Let me find an English-language recipe that is correct or comes close.
There are havens of sanity on this subject to counteract the drivel that get wrapped onto it by Nasties.
