Maybe a benjolin? I'm betting on drums

  • Aaaaaah yes!!! @Hainbach my dude!

😏 "This will be perfect for Ambient." 😂🤣 (That phrase is the new forum meme it seems, so I had to say it.)

  • Who knows... after the ambient backlash...

  • Me, ready to buy.

No kidding. I never thought I'd see such a backlash here. It's not like the Creations section is full of only Ambient. For example this is not Ambient.

    https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/57656/heart-attack-made-start-to-finish-with-drambo-on-ipad-love-to-get-your-feedback

There's a wide variety of genres to listen to. It makes no sense.

Anyways, I was confused about "Comedian" (duct-taped banana art), and initially thought it was not art. I deeply thought about it, and came to the conclusion it IS art in that it is bold, daring, challenging the status quo, rebellious, and it did get a reaction out of me, even if initially negative. It caused me to think, and isn't that what art should be about? Even if the initial reaction is an ignorant "what the hell was this person thinking when making/doing this?!"

In the end, everyone has unique likes and dislikes, but I try to go by the guideline "don't like it, don't bother with it and move on". Sometimes I'm narrow minded and don't always adhere to that. 🫣

Anyways, hopefully this ridiculous backlash simmers down. We don't need such negativity here. If such people don't like it, they can go to Gear Space and KVR and other toxic forums full of pretentious narrow minded onanism.

Call me perverse ( people often have) , but the more some complain about ambient here, the more I feel compelled to work on it. And the separate genre of noise music has the potential to be one of the most confronting, alienating, downright annnoying auditory experiences out there. So trying to develop a mash up of the two really, ah, inspires me :)

In any case, based on the fact that I have literally bought everything Hainbach has released for IOS, if his new thing makes its way over here, I’ll be buying it. And, who knows, using it to make even more of that ‘low effort non-music’ that seems to get some folks so riled up… ;)

Nothing wrong with non-traditional, non-musical sound explorations. One of my friends is the most talented musician I know, but all of their recent work is about creating sound environments.

  • Looks like I missed some forum drama. I'll don the appropriate safety gear and go read the thread in question.

Nice thing is, it could be anything! Though something benjolinesque would be good. Unlikely, I suspect - or if it’s in that ball park there’ll be a twist of some sort, rather than a straight clone.

Haha I was just thinking we all need to either post a lot more ambient tracks or swap it out for some dark ambient or harsh noise. That’ll really piss em off 😎

Really hoping this one does make it to iOS. I don’t have a desktop so I’ll try to patiently wait lol

  • Has there been any confirmation that it’s also coming to iOS? Since AudioThing is porting their stuff I wonder if they’ll do like Baby Audio has and start releasing their plugins on desktop and iOS simultaneously - or at least close together.

Anyways, I’m sure it’ll be great. Hainbach is one of my favorite musicians and AudioThing is one of my favorite developers. Win win.

    👍👍👍

I have every intent to add my meagre contributions to the ABF Experimental/Ambient massive’s fight back. A new Hainbach tool will be just the thing… heh, heh, heh 😈

Surely but since AudioThing is pretty “in” on iOS now, there’s a possibility of both releasing at once or at the very least coming to iOS soon. If enough people bought Gong Amp they may realize releasing a Hainbach collab on iOS as well is a good idea to sell more copies.

Art’s all about entertainment. I never got why people elevate it into some lofty thing. It’s just a person making something. Do I enjoy looking at/listening to/watching this? Let’s just say any kind of art criticism (aka lionizing creations as an excuse to speak intellectually) as a field is not for me. I just cannot get it.

Save your time Richard. Here is the abstract:

A member (with no clear motive?) revived an old thread about Ambient (no real bad intention from the OP in 2021) and fueled it with disdain claiming that's Ambient is not music and doesn't requires skills. Well...Opinions are opinions... It then evolved to a discussion about abstract and conceptual art with @Gavinski brilliantly mentioning the work of Marcel Duchamp to pinpoint the relevance of a Banana. The thread then reached its peak when another well known strongly opinioned member (and very likely blinded by parental love) chimed in to claim that his kids could do better then Jackson Pollock in a single afternoon. Yeah, you read right, a single afternoon !
The thread necrophile then took the opportunity to indirectly attack some of the work of our well esteemed iOS community YouTuber (I love you Gavin !! But, script might not be a bad idea sometimes 😉).
In between those highlights tons of love for ambient was transmitted and that was heartwarming.
Reading this abstract, it sounds too juicy to be true... But, yeah, drama drama drama. I really feel like staying away from this kind of bulls... (for very good reasons😉)

Can't wait to see what this Heinbach Audiothing Collab will bring !

Fantastic summary lol 👏 I’ve been avoiding that thread moving forward as well. I’d rather spend my time making ambient than arguing with people about whether or not it’s real music 😂

Thanks JF - Trust me, it's hard enough to speak coherently and move knobs etc, make music, while also talking, without having a script. There's also a lot of time involved in making videos for very very little reward, and making scripts would be more effort than it is worth in our niche. But yes, some of my vids are better delivered than others and there's always room for improvement there, as long as it is improvement that doesn't involve too much extra time. Even the amount of time involved in administering giveaways is a lot more than people might think, so I'm actually going to be passing that aspect on to an assistant.

But yeah, look, once you realise someone is a troll, you call them out - that part is important - and then you just gnore them and completely stop engaging, and / or get them banned of they really overstep the lines of what is considered acceptable by mods. It's simple really 🤷‍♂️

Can definitely imagine the incredible amount of time you have to put in your content, especially given your release pace! Hoping you didn't take me observation in a bad way. It is something I noticed on tutorials for more complex apps like NonInputMixer and especially on Beatcutter. But it also gives a charm and feels like we're in front of the iPad screen with you! Your tutorial are very useful to many of us. The troll was full of s... some people find their fun in very strange ways these days...
